its what i expected. i'm guessing we'll get a final round in week 9 before the season closes out. its possible that the delay to Shadowkeep meant things have had to be stepped up a bit this season. i can't imagine they originally planned to have the new Moon activity launch the same week as Festival of the Lost.
Festival of the lost almost done. Just missing that secret triumph.
Also recently discovers a good sword, Stronghold and parrying at the right time makes for a great fun and carnage.
If you don't have a Throne-Cleaver, you should try and get one from Heroic Menagerie. There are plenty of good roll options for it, but between Shattering Blade (massive damage increase if your heavy hit uses the last of your ammo) or Counterattack (big damage buff for 5 seconds after Blocking) you can just cut through just about anything that isn't a raid boss.
Also there is something delightful when you get 2 or 3 Titans wailing on a primeval and basically stunlocking them in Gambit during DPS.
Since they've fixed whatever "bug" had the bounties reset and will only be 4 next week, it sure as shit better not be the ability kills one.
I did all the quests and 6/7 bounties on all three characters last go around and after having done all of that, my Titan was the only one more than 50% on the ability kill bounty.
It's stupid, has been stupid since the weekly bounties were introduced into IB and should have been fixed a long time ago.
so maybe its just me but seems like the new FotL AR shreds in Crucible. need to get better at aiming for the head with it though, cut down on the number of encounters i'm just trading kills.
Confession time; I’m absolutely awful with Recluse (and every other SMG for that matter.) It just doesn’t click for me.
Luckily I have a Trust with Drop Mag/Triple Tat/Rapid Hit that seems to be the perfect secondary weapon for me.
If you're on console, don't feel bad. SMG's might as well be an entirely different weapon class on consoles vs PC. They feel completely different, and I don't find Recluse to be useful at all if I'm playing on console.
If you're on PC, still don't feel bad. Recluse is great, don't get me wrong, but takes a minute to get used to; and moreover it isn't necessarily better than other weapons in its role (depending on circumstances, Huckleberry and Riskrunner are flat better). It just is way easier to trigger it's effect and keep it going, than others are with theirs, so feels better faster. Numbers-wise there are even other SMG's that are as good, or better, once they get their perks going, but aren't as forgiving. Between being able to get its perk via other weapons and its perk applying to body-shots, it is far more forgiving than a comparable SMG that might require more work to trigger, maybe do more headshot damage, but lose damage because of lower body-shots. Even on PC though, its range falloff is pretty steep relative to a pulse or even a hand cannon, the latter, even post nerf, can be just as efficient for add clearing with the right setup and good aim. On console between the kick and the range, it (and other SMG's, to me at least) just doesn't hold a candle to many, many other options.
In fact I'm not super enamored with any of the crucible pinnacle weapons (except Luna's probably) on console. Mountaintop is still really good, but is far less forgiving than on PC. Recluse is an SMG which by and large, to me, feel pretty garbage on console. Revoker is just a generic sniper. Haven't gotten Randy.
But on PC they're all (except Revoker I guess) a reliable, superior even, loadout in virtually any situation. Crucible or PvE.
Not really related, and this is probably not news to anyone; Delirium is stupid in the Haunted Forest. Assuming you're using the helmet perks (and you shouldn't be doing the forest if you don't), heavy ammo drops so regularly that you should literally never need to reload and always have the 3x buff up. Having to use other weapons for dailies sucks compared to just mowing down everything with Delirium. I imagine Thunderlord would shine here too, with its AoE thingy, but I haven't tried it.
Oh I know, I’ve got Randy’s. Recluse is sitting pretty in my vault, just meant it’s funny how I can’t use it well.
All that said, I got Wormhusk Crown off the seasonal pass exotic freebie. I’m experimenting with mobility & resilience/wormhusk and liar’s grasp in momentum. Weapon of choice? That sweet baby Cerebus+1

No you pretty much got it in one.
Once you hit gear Power Level 950 (not taking into account the artifact levels) all Tier 1, 2, and 3 rewards will not drop any higher than your current PL. The only way to get higher gear PL is to get “Pinnacle” drops (master nightfalls, master nightmare hunts, the current raid, and iron banner), which can drop higher than the 950 cap.
The problem is, they were set to only drop +1 higher than your combined gear score, and Destiny rounds down. So you would need to get 8 unique slot drops at 951 before you’d even have a chance at seeing a 952.
With the patch that’s coming, you’ll be able to see a 952 right off the bat and not be completely screwed because after 2 dozen drops you still haven’t gotten boots, or a heavy. It’s made getting to 960 gear PL go from something that was effectively impossible to something that is actually technically attainable by people with tons of free time, within the season rime frame.
I got home from work and hopped on to do the Bergusia Forge so I could finally continue on Izanagi's Burden. Inserted my key... and nothing happened. Guess they now have a warning not to do this. Maybe some day I'll be able to complete this quest.
Man this triumph for doing the Vex Offensive in under 10 minutes is broken for console. It counts the load in time before you can start the encounter for folks who don't have SSDs, and the final 40 second timer after the boss dies also is counted... Twice today me and @Elki finished the challenge with the end-game timer reading 10:40. Snarf timed us and on the last run we beat it under 9 minutes, but timer says we failed by 40 seconds.

Even with the buff I find the 950-960 thing baffling.
It's more consistent, and probably faster, to just grind XP stuff and level your artifact instead, for functionally the exact same outcome.
One thing isn't entirely clear, and it could be in part because so few people are 951+; but once you're actually a higher power than 950, do normal drops move up, or are 951+ drops only ever pinnacle only. I.E. if you get your 4 952's and your average is 951, will normal stuff now potentially drop at 951, or will everything but pinnacles only ever be 950 even if you're 960?
Because in one scenario, you'll potentially be able to use the way power level drops work now to move through 950-960 much faster (get your 4 952's then burn tokens/get drops at 951 for other slots making the next set of pinnacles move you to 953 with only 2-3 drops, and rinse/repeat). And in the other, it won't actually be much faster because you're still entirely dependent on RNG in a very small handful of weekly drops, and you could easily end up getting stuck at a certain point with superbly bad luck, if those 4 slots that you got to 952 initially are the only 4 slots you manage to ever get to drop, and the rest of your gear is stuck at 950; there'll be a break point in that situation where the 950's will cause the pinnacles to stop dropping higher, until those off-slots get a drop.
Regardless, still, it seems like a headache and I'm not entirely sure who it's appealing to. No matter what it'll still take most people the entire season to potentially hit 960 via actual power, and in that time everyone else playing regularly either not doing pinnacle stuff or doing a handful, will still be pushing forward naturally via their artifact.
There's no obvious way, without examining individual gear, to tell the difference between someone at 965 via 15 levels in the artifact, or 13 levels in the artifact and 2 via pinnacle stuff; and gameplay wise it makes no difference either way.
The XP requirements for the artifact are so steep that I doubt there'll be many people who bother getting more than just comes naturally, and either way there's no use in going over 980, and the only point in even going there is to do a very specific handful of content, or to be at a bit of an advantage solely in IB.
Don't get me wrong, I understand that the fact that exists is the draw for some; believe me, I get that. My 87575 triumph score didn't happen on accident.
It's just this specific thing seems bizarre and even after several times of Bungie trying to clarify their intent, I still just don't get it.
300 scout kills last night, 5 Ghost in the Night medals. I was just a couple kills short of a We Ran out of Medals one too, which is a bit of a drag. I don't mind this mode so much, I want to grind out VWing later this weekend.

One thing you're missing is that weapon damage is tied to the weapon power level now, not overall power level. So when you're doing 980 rated activities, if you have a 960 weapon you're going to find it much easier than with a 959, even if your artifact takes you over 980. It's dumb.
Also I've moved over to the PC - I saw there was no room in the clan, but is there an invite to the discord I could get? The one in the OP isnt workin!
I’ve never spent money in the eververse before, but I’m really tempted by a skeleton outfit for my warlock.
I got tired of running Jade Rabbit in Momentum Control, somewhat so I could run Eriana's for progress, somewhat to mix it up. I realized my Explosive Rounds Imperative wasn't working because it seemed like OHKOs weren't triggering because of the explosions. So I just scanned ye-olde Collection for some random High Impacts.
I took out two Year 1 scouts that I barely played with before - The Dream (Kinetic FWC High Impact with Snapshot) and Motion to Compel (Trials of the Nine Energy High Impact with Slideshot/Kill Clip). I don't know why, but I was having a grand time playing Scout hipster, and those perks felt pretty damn crispy.
I really enjoy the idea that Momentum Control makes all sorts of gun experimentation fun to just mess around with (because having the absolute best or whatever isn't really necessary. That said, plenty of spawning bullshit occurs, and the community has migrated to Trace Rifle and Fighting Lion spam, which is pretty fucking ridiculous at times. Trace Rifles are probably the most ridiculous stuff going on, and feels worse than ye-olde-Laser Tag when Prometheus was broken.
Anyway, go grab some random Faction weapons from Collection and be a hipster in Momentum Control, it's pretty fun.
I don't miss Faction Rallies because fuck running loops in Lost Sectors but I do miss the faction gear.
I'm pretty sure some of the ornaments we're supposed to have are bugged anyways. So like, I'm missing random pieces to IB sets I've absolutely completed. I'd like basically everything as Ornaments, but at the very least Y1 stuff should be unlocked for us. The armor overhaul has yet to really wow me, aside from the general shenanigans of running double Scavenger.
I miss having all the old ornaments that I unlocked on the Xbox, and it's weird (for anyone but bungie i guess) that we can't earn them anymore. Just the basic armor ornaments that were there back at the start of year one. The universal ornament thing seems weirdly underutilized. My worst fear is they're going to fucking Bungie it and intro a system that seems like what we wanted, then only give us a smattering of ornaments and then turn around and try to sell us ornaments for cash. "EP armor universal ornaments....in the store! The whole set for $15 dollars...per class!" *grits teeth*
I'm okay with new sets added strictly for cash for a reasonable price. (Not horse armor) In fact, don't let people get them for dust until a year goes by or something. Just let us have the old sets as ornaments already via unlock when they drop since we know they're gonna make us grind for every item in the game 4 times somehow.
i didnt even know what triumphs were until i had to click one for some quest
Yeah, the Seals are like the uber-Triumphs of the game. Some of them you can only earn during a certain time-period too like the one for the previous Solstice Of Heroes.
