Then there's the Devils and they are...uh...really something. They're above the wizards, incredibly powerful, and they do whatever they want whenever they want to whoever they want. They're as likely to help as they are to harm as they are to play weird little games like pretending to be some dude's dog just for kicks
Would I gain anything from reading the manga of HxH over just watching the anime? I know there's a few fairly major things that were left out (namely Kite's background with Gon).
And I know that the anime ends and the manga is still going (if you can call it that, with the author's health issues and all).

You’d gain the ability to talk about the manga whenever anyone mentions they’re watching the anime!

I know Yoshihiro Togashi is unwell but I don't think he released a new chapter in 2019. Should be fine waiting a couple more years before trying to catch up to the manga. Details wise I don't think you really miss much.
If you dig HxH you might find Dorohedoro to be a good transition, it even have an amazing and satisfying ending. It's more seinen than shounen though so there will be more violence and on very rare occasions some lewd stuff

Dorohedoro goes off the fucking rails
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Eizouken is very good. If it keeps it up, it'll be amazing.

Eizouken has the added benefit of featuring the most attractive archetype possible for any character, male or female: lanky, odd, casual, scheming but supportive, same kind of expressions as the Groke from the Moomins universe.
Shirobako may be kind of a love letter to the anime industry and otaku culture, but eizoken feels more like a love letter just to the art of animation. Like its setting is weird and filled with wonder, and it's about wanting to capture that sense of magic through art.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

also, mori
HxH is still only on the next arc after the anime ends, and it also has a mini sorta arc within that arc that contains straight up stands wielded by people that are somehow even bigger sociopaths than what you would expect

All the Kite stuff you can find in the opening chapters of Volume 1.
A thing to note is that the anime actually toned down the violence in Hunter x Hunter, if you can believe it.
I’m sort of the opinion that Madoka really needed a continuation or extra stuff; the original story told itself well and ended nice. And I say this having enjoyed the innocent malice manga spinoff.
But then, the existence of a Madoka slot machine game in the first place kinda baffles me, so I guess it’s not surprising that the concept of its anime spinoff would kinda lose me.

Just finished JoJo: Diamond is Unbreakable.
So goddamn good. What a villain, and what a finale. I'm bummed that Hulu doesn't have the rights to Golden Wind.

I hope Funmation, as a company, crashes and burns so all the licenses they're hoarding gets picked up by a service that actually airs things in Europe.

Bad news, they’re Sony.
Good news, they merged funimation and aniplex together likely for this reason at some point.
While I consider Funimation going away as the preferable solution, because I'm incredibly fed up with them (and piss-poor licensing deals that keep me from watching things in general), I'll take it.
All I want is to watch anime in a legal and convenient manner. It's really simple and it pisses me off a lot that they're apparently capable of screwing it up.

One Piece episode this week:
World building/myth arc foreshadowing are what Oda does best. Between arc stuff is always my favorite. It's just so rich and interesting.
Just binged Spy x Family, not hard since there's only 19 chapter, man I had fun reading it.
I usually get turned off from more comedy manga since is usually just lame japanese word games with (ugh) translation notes, but on this one the humor is more clever. Also Anya is adorb.

My only issue is they just stop doing the main story to do weird side stories seemingly at random.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
DOROHEDORO! It's out. (in japan, but not US). First episode was really good. Real real good. They're adapting it properly. No sterilizing the craziness or stupid exposition for dumb viewers.

And I'm really hyped for the anime.

Ah, my Nen power has conditions, I see.
Now if I tell Siri "Big O, Showtime!" she responds by saying "Cast in the name of God, Ye not guilty."
If I say "What's for dinner?" she plays the "Tacos Tacos Tacos" song from El Cazador de la Bruja.
Lastly, if I say "Goku! Frieza!" she plays "Ka Ka Kachi Daze."

i want friends like her
She's portrayed by Sairi Itō, and it's her first anime role according to her ANN profile.
Luffy is played by Mayumi Tanaka, and she's got a list of voice credits longer than my arm.

Also the idea that the bad moms are just a magical fight away from being good moms is.. not great.
