After many fulfilling years at CNET I will be moving over to the Games division at Red Ventures to work with the fine people at Gamespot and another website about videogames, Giant Bomb™, to help lead content strategy/development and partnerships

I like how in the reading of this that he is going to be working with the fine people at Gamespot . . . and also Giant Bomb. Bakalar did not have it in him to comment on, or is undecided about, the quality of those people. Except to say that he might be insinuating that "fine people" don't play a fucking clip of someone shouting Yeehaw! while someone else is talking about concessions having to be made with the planning of their sons birthday.

Technically, as written the "fine people" descriptor does apply to both Gamestop and Giant Bomb. If he wanted to separate them out, he'd need a comma before the "and" or change it to something like "as well as" or "along with". It's definitely valid to read it the way you describe, but strictly speaking it can't be taken as his clear intent.
Why yes I have worked as an editor for the past 15 years, how did you know?

It would definitely be much funnier given the playacting antagonism between Jeff and the Beastcast. "Oh and those assholes too, I guess"
Dan tells the New Day his egg whites story on the newest episode of that pod. Their reaction is about what you'd expect.

Bit late to the party on this, but I'm super happy Bakalar is making the move to the vidya games land permanent. He's become one of my favorite personalities and I'm glad he's going to be around for the foreseeable future.
Dan is curious about things and will ask questions (sometimes way too late, but he asks them) and change his views in response to the answers he gets. He admits when he doesn't know shit about something.

He's very above average.
ehhh, this is true sometimes
he also still has a bad habit of writing some things off as stupid or bad without any willingness to consider why he feels that way
generally he's better than average but he still very much has his blindspots

This is basically correct, and also shows us how terrifyingly low the average is for humanity

What I said comes off harsher than intended, I have no really animosity for Dan, he's entertaining mostly. Just uh, hard time wrapping my head around that one.

That's just being a person
He's also improved significantly on this front over the past whatever seven years. He's consistently trending away from having obnoxious opinions "just because" or because Paul gave him bad advice or taught him something dumb when he was younger. I think his personal growth should be celebrated, honestly.

As someone who is a vocal non-fan of his shtick, I've always found it important to separate dislike of the shtick from dislike of the person. His on screen personality is sand paper to my mind but I have no issue with Dan as a person nor do I begrudge his success in the slightest. I'm always happy when people who are generally good folk get their shine, even if it's not for my palette.
Jokes on him, Kofi actually looked great in that Halloween shirt.
Anyway, I guess people are really excited about Fire Escape, but honestly I am realizing more and more that I only care about these people when they are in the Giant Bomb sphere, interacting with the Giant Bomb staff.
I barely tolerated Dan when he worked at GB. I'm not going to seek him out now.

Yea i can take dan in small doses. He does put out some gems. Out of the three I'd want to see more content from Mary outside of her twitch stuff.

For those of you that need a Ryckert fix.
Law and Order ≠ Justice
As an American, the scary thing is that last November and January 6th have demonstrated that Dan is above average when it comes to adult functioning.

That said, I've actually enjoyed his nonsense on the New Day's podcast - him being the worst to them on the regular is quite good.
