Have they said why? Seems weird to lose three people all at once. Vinny and Alex I could see given GBEast was already extremely shortstaffed, but Brad too?
This is especally weird after losing Abby and Ben in rapid succession.
Also interesting they didn't stick around till at least E3 next month.
So that's almost all of the remaining founders. We already lost most of the younger talent last year. Kinda difficult to see a future for Giant Bomb after this.
Probably going to be canceling that now, what a massive bummer
I’m sure they’re doing what they need to do, hope they all land somewhere good.
I know Will Smith quit tested to work more full time on his projects and the Tech Pod Podcast/community that he and Brad run. I imagine there must be enough money coming in through that route that Brad has a bit of cushion to leave. Brad has certainly sounded more interested in general technology than just video games on Tech Pod. I could see him expanding his horizons. I imagine Vinny and Alex are in the same boat. Heck I could potentially see them joining up there, even as just freelancers occasionally.

I wonder if some shit was going on behind the scenes with Red Venture. I have to imagine they are involved somehow as well. I could see the guys waiting till they were vaccinated before jumping ship.
Wish they could of had something written before they announced this.

Wow. Vinny, Alex, Brad, and Abby were pretty much the entirety of what I followed on Giant Bomb, with Jeff's experience and perspective just being a nice bonus. Maybe there's more devotion to Jeff than I think there is, but it's hard for me to see that much value remaining in the site going forward.
Correction Rorie said he is staying in chat, Jason confirmed too.
See this is where it annoys me they didnt have an actual statement ready to go out.
You have a customer support guy, two producers and one onscreen talent. Maybe you kind of owed it to all the subscribers to let them know what they are supposed to be paying for going forward.
EDIT: especially cause this isnt we were all let go, this is "we all quit".
My bet is that Red Ventures is both consolidating their games brands and wants their brand on the masthead for whatever that consolidation becomes. I agree with the above sentiment that Jeff is only there as the captain of the ship and it's a first in, last out kind of thing.
He'll either be gone inside a year or become a director or something inside the company.
My sub is set to renew on the 13th and the only reason I'd keep it now is to be able to watch all of the premium content (that interests me) that I haven't gotten to yet. However, if all of that goes free in the next week or so I can safely save my money.

I knew it couldn't last forever, but still sucks.
So much for my favorite website.
I love Jeff, Jan and Jason but like, trying real hard to see value in the website?

yeah my premium was set to renew in 2 weeks

Jeff has a 2nd kid coming and he will want time off come september, so really GB is pretty dead.

They've lost six out of 10 members in the last 18 months, including two founders. That is incredibly rough.
Rorie is leaving too
they're playing Lockdown
it hurts

Okay, that is SUPER worrying.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Giant Bomb entirely restructured and folded into Gamespot or whatever as a brand of sorts
Wish they could of had something written before they announced this.
At this point I'd mostly be watching for Jeff's old man videogames takes, and I'm not sure I'm paying $35 a year for just that.
I havent been following as much since the pandemic hit but no vinny is the end for me
I expect they're going to announce it will be folded in to Gamespot, and I bet Jeff stays at Gamespot in some kind of senior exec role.

Man, that would be the wildest way for Giantbomb to end.
The longest long-game.

I hate it all.
Also my premium literally renewed yesterday.

Let me make a new thread I guess real quick as I'm sure it's gonna be active.
...I think I'll turn off that renewal for now.
