Ghostbusters: The Boogieman Cometh
Posts
Good news is the pack is by far the hardest part if you don't want to settle for the Spirit Halloween one, so skipping it makes things a lot easier.
First thing I'd recommend is the Ghostbusters reference library, just in case you need some references.
https://www.theghostbustersreferencelibrary.com/
If you know how to sew patches, or are willing to learn how (took me basically a five minute youtube tutorial, plus a couple of practice runs on non-ghostbusters stuff to go from not knowing how to sew to being able to slap those patches on successfully) you can get like 80% of the stuff you need from GB Fans. https://www.gbfans.com/shop/
They sell jumpsuits (make sure to get one size bigger than your own size so it's properly baggy), patches, customized nametags (so you can have your name instead of a specific 'buster), the gloves, elbow pads, hose, hose attachment and belt fobs. Though since it's close to halloween they may be sold out of various things. I'd recommend starting early and not putting things off till next year as there's always a rush around this time.
Basically everything except the boots and other belt stuff. You can get replica boots from Magnoli Clothiers (prop replica company out of New Zealand.)
https://www.magnoliclothiers.com/
Though while they look good, they are the most uncomfortable fucking things I've ever worn. Make sure to get insoles. Also tore my ankles up so now I only wear them with added layers and some bandaids, just in case. If you don't mind being inaccurate, you can probably get away with any style of black army boots.
Magnoli also sells custom fitted jumpsuits and you can have them sew the patches on even. This is roughly 3+ times as expensive as doing it yourself, though. I haven't had the nerve to take my measurements and order one yet though. I believe one of the other 'Busters here got one.
So the only thing left is whatever else you want on your belt. Sadly the PKE Meter and Ghost Trap that Hasbro are putting out aren't for sale anymore. You can cruise etsy for all sorts of fun Ghostbusters stuff if you're looking for stuff to put on your belt. (I have a 3D Printer yellow belt alarm, and some slime vials, plus a very innaccurate belt gizmo that lights up at least.)
One thing that might look nice but I'd have to warn about is the Spirit Halloween Ghostbusters Radio. It's fine for what it is (it's annoying Ghostbusters branded and only plays lines from the movie), but the strap for the holster broke on mine so I have to encase it in black tape so it doesn't just fall off. I even tried sewing it together but it's just too weak a material for too loose of a design. it flops everywhere and puts additional strain on the strap.
I think that's about the extent of my costuming knowledge.

Saw Ghostbusters in Concert at the Symphony tonight. It ruled!
The coolest bit, besides listening to the live orchestra do all the musical stingers and scores, was the reactive lighting that matches what was happening in the film in real time.
Ooh! I got to see that when they were in Toronto!
Oh, I don't think we had that, though!

I wanna steampunk pack.
The Ecto-1 Haslab is still going, Brian Brink put out his projections and his worse case scenario has things just barely getting funded. It's going to be a nail biter for sure.

Ghostbusters community annual toy drive telethon is live!
And then after it ended, over 2000 got added so now it's at 17706. Not bad!
I'm a little confused about adding more after it's over. I thought the point of it being over was that it was over, not that it would keep going?
Or is this like a Desert Bus thing?

That wasn't such a chore!
Also apparently somebody bought a superchat to say I was handsome and I was too tunnel-visioned to notice.
I couldn't play this one because I'll be traveling that day.
It's not advertising for the Two-in-the-box, it was advertising for the Ecto-1. Ideally they would have wanted to get these toys into people's hands while the Ecto-1 haslab was still going, but it's clear that wasn't going to happen, hence getting it into the hands of influencers.

I know the authors so I gotta buy it. Also I am a book hoarder.

Also got my Two-in-the-box. The PKE meter is a chonk boy and I'm not sure I like that, also there's way too much EM interference in my apartment for the EMF mode to be any kind of reliable.
The trap is surprisingly heavy, which makes me surprised they went with a plastic handle.
I also feel that the PKE is far to thick. Kinda hard to grip. The Matty PKE, while not as good sounds, feels better in the hand.
Trap is neat. Seems a bit quiet though. Hose is good and long and the connectors seem far sturdier than the Matty trap.
Is there a breakdown of what buttons and switches actually do? The instructions are very vague.
PKE. Switch under the graph is, I think, gb1/silence/gb2,
The four main silver buttons are,
Upper Left - Sets the PKE to sleep mode
Upper Right - Random Sequence
Lower Left - Lower Arms
Lower Right - Raise Arms
Switch on bottom has 3 setings: O/I/II
O is off, I is EMF mode and II is normal mode.
Switch on the back enters into taser mode, at which point any of the face buttons will activate the "taser". Will "overload" if you hold the button down too long.
Make sure to lock the black parts back into place when your done with taser mode, do not try to put the arms back into place, it'll do that automatically
Secret Stuff!
Point the PKE at the trap and extend the arms fully.
I found that holding down the fully extend arms button on the meter and also the taser fire for long enough cause both modes to go into an overheat and shutdown
The beeping only last tens second, which is sad to me, I wish it kept going until I stopped it.
Also the volume is weird. The beeping is plenty loud but the rest of the sounds are kinda quiet even with the volume maxed.
PKE Meter: Comparing it to the Matty's PKE, the bodies of the two are fairly similar in size, it is just the handle the Haslab which is like twice as thick.
Those were two separate secret things, sorry.

Wore it yesterday while shoveling in the mid 20's. With a hoodie underneath I was more than comfortable.
Wore it again today. -8 windchill. Just a t-shirt underneath. I could feel a little bit of a chill but it seemed like it did very well at keeping the wind out. Actually kinda impressive since this thing is not a fully cold rated parka and the real one is so very expensive.
Ordered this bad boy back in *checks e-mail* September of last year! It's finally here.
It looks great and is HUGE! (Root beer can used for reference)
One downside is it uses 3 triple A's with no option for AC. The other downside is I was going to hang this at work, but I changed jobs recent and I don't think I really have a spot for it now.
Ah well.
EDIT: Forgot to mention it's one sided, so if you hung it like the real one, one side would be blank.
It's obviously a -- forgive the expression -- sign that you need to buy another.
