If you liked Stardew Valley then let me tell you about a game I discovered yesterday quite by accident. Caveat, I’ve only played it briefly, but in that time I have found the following:
A dilapidated area to rebuild.
Expansion areas to purchase.
Oddly bolted on combat.
Mining.
Farming.
Crafting. So much crafting.
Making food from ingredients. Some acquired in a questionable way.
Tech trees to unlock.
An entire village to interact with.
Questing for favor.
All in an isometric 2d format you’ll find familiar.
What is this game that reminds me so of Stardew Valley? Why it’s Graveyard Keeper. And it’s like $7 in the store right now.
It seems pretty rediculous and I haven’t plumbed it’s depths yet, but I got a lot of similar vibes from this game as I waded through a bit of it yesterday. I do not think it’s quite as polished as SDV yet, it might be but I’m not sure. But that core gameplay loop appears to be there. Tell me what you think.
You know, I've been noticing that most of my new controllers have been a lot... I dunno, softer? more sensitive? than old ones. I'm noticing especially because I just discovered that Hellsinker got ported to Steam, an incredibly unique shmup I loved years ago and played with an old 360 pad, and boy does it become noticeable how this Xbox One pad "bounces" backwards when you let go, or how sensitive to diagonals it is, when you need to be carefully streaming a wall of bullets that takes half the goddamn screen. And then I've been also trying some SoulCalibur, since, you know, humble bundle, and seeing my actual inputs in there as arrows I'm noticing how many weird double presses and diagonals I'm inputting without realizing.
I'm going to need to futz a lot with deadzones and shit, I think.

Not quite Steam-related, but might be relevant to some of you in here:
I awoke to an email saying that a free month of Origin Access had been redeemed on my Origin account. I haven't logged into my account in months, so I immediately assumed the worst. But it appeared no hacking had occurred. I did some digging and it turns out this was given by EA to everyone who had signed up for 2-factor authentication by October 31st, and that they're rolling it out in waves.
Anyway, I'm downloading a bunch of games that I've heard good things about, especially Titanfall 2. Everything else I'm getting is something that is available on Steam, but hey, if I have free access to it for the next month, why not?
(Chances of me playing these games in the month allotted are near-zero due to the fact that I just got a Switch + Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey)

I got that Origin email too; immediately went to change my password.
They could have communicated that a wee bit better, I think. (Fake edit: apparently I got an email the day before saying this would happen, but it got buried and I missed it.)
Titanfall 2 is extremely awesome, by the way. A must-play, and for free is even better!
My Time At Portia has made me want a post-apocalyptic Stardew Valley that's not so... sugary sweet? Not grim, nessisarily, but not diabetes-inducing either.

Did anyone else get an email cancelling and refunding their Steam controller?

Looks like they're discontinuing it, which is why I can't just get some when they restock. Oh well, I'm sure I've got $12 worth of stuff on my wishlist I'd be happy with.
Have you ever tried the Rune Factory games? They're amazing, particularly 4. It also has a Switch port coming out next year.
As good as they are, 1 and 2 are difficult experiences compared to modern game design(1 is really bad about this) and I would probably not actually recommend anyone start them unless they know they're in for an... "arcane" experience. 4 is a perfectly fine place to start especially with the Switch port coming soon.
How about a "Stardew Valley" where you play a sleeper cultist that slowly corrupts the town. Your goal is to corrupt the town to the point that the townspeople will assist with the summoning of an elder god, but you have to start small so you're not found out.

These prices are ridiculous. I honestly usually just buy things straight up on Steam and always raised an eyebrow at folks who are "waiting for a sale. . ." but I have almost replaced my entire PS4 Pro game library (Hitman 2, ACO, Tomb Raider, etc). with their PC counterparts: and the games look stunning of course (ACO in particular at 60FPS at 1440P; glad I didn't finish this).
. . .then of course there's the off the beaten path games that are dirt cheap I wouldn't have tried (Phantom Doctrine for example; which is amazing - I'm honestly floored with this game and all it's little mechanics). I thought that Race Car event was crazy (I mean it was, I got two Yakuzas for doing absolutely nothing but joining a group).

Isn't that Cultist Simulator
I feel like Cultist Simulator is more puzzler than Stardew Valley'er. If CS had the deep/personal storylines that SDV had - that would be amazing.

I mean, Stardew is... not really saccharine? A lot of people are in bad situations, have issues, and the town, while nice, is not really some idyllic perfect countryside.

Flip side, CS captured that feeling of being a novice scholar diving into the eldritch horror by puzzling out formulas and diving into lore to gain transcendence while outwitting hunters.
I mean the actual gameplay is an Eldritch cookbook with recipes you stumble upon but man it was a good feeling. Too bad about the milkshake duck attached to it.
Edit: Vileness! Betrayal!
@chuck steak has gifted me Door Kickers: Action Squad. Said something about "co-op"?! Don't know the meaning of the word!
@Karoz has apparently been very naughty while I was visiting parents for Thanksgiving over the past couple of days. Thank you for The Forbidden Arts, Indivisible, and Trials of Mana!

Stardew Valley isn't.
My Time at Portia is very saccharine though. And post-apocalyptic, but you have to dig very deep (both figuratively and literally) to really see anything that isn't sickly sweet.
So basically I want a post-apoc Stardew Valley with Stardew Valley's tone, rather than Portia's.
All right, so after having slept, performed Black Friday shopping, helped out with my city's Christmas Lights parade, and then slept again, my mental capacities are finally back to normal, so it's time to thank some people.
My Extra Life stream turned out to be the most successful one I've ever had. Thanks to @Mugsley , @an_alt , @Gear Girl , @Betsuni , @Ed Gruberman , @Karoz , @Pixelated Pixie , @Big Classy , and @Iolo for donating, and for throwing my stream and donation link up in here. There are two other folks who donated but used their real names and who I can't figure out who they are on the forums, so thank you two as well, you know who you are.
Also thanks to Karoz for South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Now that I'm almost done with VC4, maybe it'll be time to play something new and different in 2020. I really enjoyed the first South Park game, despite not being a huge fan of the show, so this'll be fun.

Atomicrops is the closest thing we got and that kind of seems to be more of a roguelike sort of game than a true farming RPG.
Picked up Life is Feudal: Forest Village for a bit over $5. It’s been called a copy + paste of Banished with better graphics. I never played Banished, so I couldn’t say how accurate that is.
It’s very slow. Even with time sped up 10x it takes forever for things to get built. I’ve enjoyed it so far, though. It’s a nice little built-this-thing-to-get-that-resource-to-make-that-other-thing city builder in a medieval setting, with a pleasantly chill soundtrack.
Starting a village from scratch has some... disturbing implications. The only way your village population grows is by your villagers having children, and you only start with two people if you start from scratch. I imagine my village being populated with people of the Shadow Over Innsmouth variety.

Theres also Gleaner Heights on Steam which is going for more of a weird dark sort of thing under the surface.

I got one saying it's preparing to ship, which was nice.

Heres another one, in early access but sounds promising:
