Has anyone played this yet? The reviews look pretty mixed, and I am a diehard OFP fan - but I sort of don't want to pay full price for this if it's just a reskinning of the original. Any opinions so far?
Due to legal issues between BIS and Codemasters, the original publishers of Operation Flashpoint, Codemasters own the Intellectual Property to the game.
Since BIS has severed its connection with Codemasters and no longer own the Operation Flashpoint name, Armed Assault is considered to be the direct descendent of Operation Flashpoint but not a full sequel (hence the reference to Operation Flashpoint 1.5) while a total sequel to Operation Flashpoint is currently referred to as Game 2.
Codemasters plan to release a rival title to BIS using the name Operation Flashpoint 2 of which the Operation Flashpoint developers BIS have no participation.
as far as just a "reskinning" theres more to it than that. OFP is 6 years old, if you dont feel like spending money for a newer version after that long then wtf.
It's buggy at the moment even with the beta patch their are numerous bugs. They can hinder the experience of online games when half your team CTDs. One of my ArmA group member works for VBS2(Simulator which ArmA is based off) and sends BIS a list of bugs we encounter or occurs common.
However, I do remember reading an article a while back about how BIS had announced the sequel to their lauded Flashpoint. It doesn't really have a tentative title at the moment, they're just calling it Game2. Check around at the sites and what not though. I'm pretty positive there's at least minimal information at http://www.flashpoint1985.com. If nothing else the forums should have plenty of information due to the sheer nice disposition of the community as a whole.

Origin is the exact same as my Steam, in case you're needing a Support or Assault in BF3.

FYI, there is a friendly "rivalry" between Armed Assault and the "Project Reality" mod for BF2.
The devs @ PR swear that they will make their free mod better than AA, whatever that means.
Anyways, I've played PR and it kicks major ass, and am debating picking up AA.
