Nah, I'd draft linemen basically every year if I were in charge.

I got an alert on my phone that 3 dolphins players tested positive for covid. About to go to espn to try and find the details.

    Edit
The Dolphins have placed LS Blake Ferguson, CB Cordrea Tankersley and rookie DT Benito Jones on the reserve/COVID-19 list meaning they've either tested positive for COVID or been in close contact with someone who has.

They are fools if they play this season

I mean baseball has a team infected with covid and they are letting them play again I believe on wednesday. Bread and circus's must be obeyed.

I miss sports. I love my football. Im excited as hell about the dolphins future. I think more players should opt out. Its not worth the risk and its going to turn into an asterick season if it even finishes.

We have a plague going on, we can live without sports for a little bit.

The list is growing. 6 guys from the Patriots have opted out now, which is drawing some attention (and wild conspiracy theories, of course). Sounds like they've got at least a week yet to decide.

What sucks is for some guys they dont have a choice. If youve got a name and a good deal you can opt out. But a journeyman making the league minimum on a one year deal? Ya, that guy has no choice.

The opt-out comes with $150,000 for the year ($350,000 if they are 'high risk'). Weirdly if I was a league minimum guy, you'd think they'd be out in droves since it's pretty close to what they'd be making. I'm assuming it's not happening because they want "exposure" and there could be an internal backlash on players who opted out (their soft, selfish, whatever other BS excuse football personal come up with).

I could see a "the country is fucked, no way I don't eventually get COVID19 anyway" mentality, but not if you can actually get paid and stay safe

If you don't opt out and take the 150k you have had too many concussions and need to retire

I'm kind of surprised we haven't had a state/city government step in and say "hey, knock this shit off, it's irresponsible" to a team. Presumably they'll have more influence over whatever college sports try to do, but I'm skeptical that somewhere like Seattle would say "yeah, you guys can have fans in the stands"

The version of that saying I always think of is admittedly less classy:
There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

One of the brewers top players just opted out of the season because of the shit show that is the MLB response to covid. I imagine that was a surprise to all of the mariners who just do that in spirit every year.

So I wonder if the NFL will have players do the same thing. Like Russel Wilson has a newborn at home I can't imagine he wants to expose him to COVID.

Stafford's on the COVID list. Unclear if it's because he has four young kids and a wife recovering from brain surgery and plays for the Lions so fuck it, or if he's been exposed.

    From espn
Stafford was put on the list after results came back from the team's third round of testing on Friday. Players are put on the list either if they've tested positive for COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who has the coronavirus. Players must stay on the list until they are medically cleared to return to their teams.

I wonder if bookies have bets open for how many NFL players/staff will end up with Covid before the end of the season. And if so, where the betting line's at. It's gotta be in the hundreds, right? There's no way a ton of people aren't gonna get it if they actually go through with the season.

While I really want things to succeed, I have to concede it probably should cancel.

Even if no one dies or suffers long term consequences (which is unlikely b poss, the randomness that already exists in the league with regards injuries is going to have an exponential explosion.

Teams losing significant amounts of players at key points, or star players or critical coaches, and it just becomes a crap shoot.

Any Superbowl winner is going to carry a massive asterisk on that title.

And cancelling it MIGHT send a message to some dumb fucks that this is actually serious. Not many, because most of them are on the kool-aid and will just think it's wussification by highly paid athletes, but there might be a marginal number that don't.

I realize this is the last thing on anyone’s mind but how would next year’s draft work?

Would it just be the same order as this year?

If there is a draft (without a season being played), the order will most likely be the exact same as this year.

Another question is do they move the draft if the NCAA season moves to the spring? If college does not play, how many would be considered eligible and would they want to declare? Going first is not as likely to be a big payday this next draft.
