There should be a gif of some other guy coming back later and deliberately moving the bricks into mis-matched positions again.

Or maybe this gif if reversed and that's exactly what he's doing.

And I'm wondering how much those tools cost and whether it's that easy everywhere or if they're usually sealed in better.

The brick patios I've done had sand poured over top and vibrated down to fill the seams to keep things stable and level and then later sealed which basically turns the joint sand to a near concrete like hardness.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.

it's like a shootout contest, so it's mostly for flair

You could argue that it was a high stick, but it didn't hit anyone... The puck touched his stick last, it seems like a legal shot to me.

See how easily he just drops the bricks back in? Usually it is not that easy and is a very tight squeeze.

When I landscaped and we had to repair small areas like that we usually had to use a rubber mallet to get the bricks to fit back in.

That tool looks super useful though.

Now I'm wondering if he's fixing someone's prank of moving the bricks or fixing the original installer's mistakes.
    Fixing the original.

The machine they use doesn't always lay them perfectly, so someone goes in and swaps out the mis-matches before the sand gets put between the bricks to keep them from moving.
