New Threads not tracking

Whenever I visit a thread, the thread doesn't remember I've been there and tosses me to the beginning. Threads that are currently being tracked are fine, it's just new threads since the site broken-ing that don't work.

Edit: posting in the thread will start tracking properly

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

    An additional data point: If I manually mark a since-broken thread as read, it changes to read, but does not start tracking normally.

    EDIT: Nevermind it is every new thread, just hadn't noticed that posting in a thread fixes it
