The video describes them explicitly as Jedi Knights of the round table. So a lot of knight errants in the new setting.
I'm potentially into the setting, at least as far as it being a place to tell stories goes

I'll be less into it when they inevitably have The Discovery of Tatooine as a whole thing

This should not happen. They always COULD do it, if they wanted, lore be damned. But High Republic is 200 years before Phantom Menace. KOTOR is like 1000 years before Phantom Menace. Tatooine already was a failed mining colony in KOTOR 1. As in, they tried to make it work for a long time, but they had given up. 1000 years before Phantom Menace. Having it be "discovered" 200 years before would be complete and total nonsense.

(KOTOR and TOR are currently like... slide canon since Revan was namedropped in TRoS. Something happened in the past involving a person named Revan, at least we know that much.)

I am hesitantly excited for The High Republic

Admittedly partially because its a shiny new setting

But the lead novel being from Charles Soule is a great sign as he is a very good writer and makes me hope they will go a bit more nuanced than the premise hints at

Right in time for Yoda’s midlife crisis

Like everything it'll come down to the content creators. The High Republic could have plenty of potential around starting to see the cracks in the republic form via the senate. Outside of books, TV seems like a good spot (I can't see a movie). Law and Order: Coruscant, dun dun! I'm not big on Jedi stuff, find them kind of boring, but I suppose they could introduce non-sith villains to the canon. God knows Star Wars could use some other villains other than the Sith and Mandalorian's. I wasn't a huge fan of the Yuuzhan Vong but at least it was something.

Actually something like SWTOR's Eternal Empire could be interesting. Some sort of force strong enough to challenge the republic with force users but not sith or jedi.

Real mixed emotion about the setting, I think that Star Wars is broadly at its best dealing with frontier-y and western settings, but making it outright the Republic's expansion into frontiers feels like it's going to play in territory about colonization that the setting will not be interrogating, especially when positioning jedi as the noble sheriffs. In that same context, comparing the villains to marauding vikings feels like it's only further playing that up - they're the BAD RAIDERS, while the Republic and the Jedi will be the force for good uplifting these poor pre-existing civilizations to a proper standard and protecting them from the villains.

Bioware had to make an Andromeda 2 somehow

The story will deal with the discovery of the planet of Revan's Cry, where rivers saturated with urea ooze down to the marsh and the main

I do appreciate that the announcement straight up says HEY WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MOVIES OR SHOWS PLANNED FOR THIS CURRENTLY

It will be real neat to see a modern setting where books/comics/maybe games are the driving narrative force

It has a lot of similarities with the clone wars multi media project and fucking loved that. That gave us the republic comics and shatterpoint and all of james luceno stuff

I’m interested in the comics and I might actually check out the initial novel, but I’d really love a Clone Wars-style TV series in this setting

Thought I'd toss this up here for anyone that saw the Super Best Friends Play LP of KotOR. The player from said LP, Woolie, is going ahead with playing KotOR2 and just as blind as he was with the first game. This time though he's partnering up with a metal cover-artist from Youtube named Little V who's replacing SBFP's Pat as the game expert guiding Woolie and his character for the game...

That KOTOR II name is so much better than Benny Agbayani or whatever the Wookiee’s name is.

I used to work with Little V! No way. Very cool, thanks for sharing.

I miss SBF, I'm glad their doing their own things though. V's been popping up in more of Woolie's stuff for a while, and seems like a fun guy to LP with.
Also 100% best Star Wars game ever.
