So for those of you not following along in the Holiday Hangout, My parents/brother got me an original Gameboy for Christmas with the Itchy & Scratchy Minigolf game to replace mine, which was stolen in the early 90's.
Since then I've been going to various retro game stores around town looking for games. I found Warioland at one but that was it, the other games I've seen were either unknowns, or in very bad condition.
Today I hit two more places with similar results. One was in the location of a former Gamers store. On leaving I saw a sign saying that the Gamers had moved to the nearby mall so headed over there. Jackpot. They had four Gameboy games. Two copies of Tetris, Metroid II, and Dr. Mario, all ones I'd been looking for.
Tetris and Dr. Mario were showing glitched logo screens on boot but I cleaned the contacts and everything works great now!
Also I think I remember owning the Bart Simpsons Gladiator game but that game sucked so I'm not interested in it. I also ordered a copy of Pokemon with a new save battery installed off the internet.
What other Gameboy games should I be looking for? I have a short list from the Hangout thread but will happily add to it.

Zelda: Link's Awakening
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow
Super Mario Land 2
Donkey Kong ('94)
James Bond 007 is pretty interesting, but not a classic like the others

Oh no. Now I'm looking into how to replace the save battery in GB cartridges. It looks very simple for someone with even a small amount of soldering experience, like me.

If you don’t find and purchase copies of Final Fantasy Legend I and II, you’re doing Game Boy wrong.
Garry: I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time I'd rather not spend the rest of the winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!

Okay I’ve exhausted local stores. Time to buy a bunch of stuff on eBay and get soldering.
I should definitely buy an official Gameboy carrying case with shoulder strap.
replacement gb batteries is pretty easy, there are probably some good youtube tutorials
ive never done it with the electrical tape method and always solder it, just make sure you get the batteries with the metal tabs on them and not without by mistake
One question, vitally important: The "Dagger" thing has to originally be a pun in Japanese, right?
I don’t think so? I’m pretty sure it’s just Garnet choosing a pseudonym and not really coming up with a particularly inspired one because she’s new at this.
Kinda reminds me of Veil in the Stormlight Archive, or how the Japanese version of Chrono Trigger had Marle’s real name be Marledia.
You're gonna get a Game Boy Camera at some point, right?
Man, can you imagine taking photos of yourself with a tiny little device you carry in your dedicated satchel?! Fuckin' wild.
Man this just reminded me of how most Nintendo peripherals sounded awesome and ended up being dumped by the roadside. GBA Link Cable, GB Camera, Super Gameboy, AR Reader, etc

Super Gameboy was great.
It was! I played a main Pokemon game on a big screen decades before Sword and Shield

I looked it up on a Final Fantasy wiki and apparently her name in Japanese was literally the English word "Dagger". So it has that cross-language mystique as originally written, I suppose?
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

From what I heard, her full name of Garnet Til Alexandros XVII was intact in the Japanese, and she didn’t have the name Dagger until that same scene wheee she chose an alias. Her asking Zidane what he called his weapon probably sounded more interesting in Japanese, since it’s an English word she’s choosing.

Internet corroborates this, her name is given as a transliteration in katakana for “Garnet Til Alexandros”.

Gameboy Tetris is just great. No T-spinning, no holding pieces, just pure, addictive Tetris.
