Bumping because my post is cooler than LightReaper's. :rotate: I was skeptical when the franchise shifted hands, but holy shit if that isn't an amazing first set of songs to release. Knights of Cydonia in particular will completely melt faces.

Did anyone else read the whole release...?
Turning it up to 11, Guitar Hero fans will channel their inner rock god using Gibson Guitar’s Les Paul and Kramer models as the industry standard. In addition, players will experience an incredible number of newly added features and explosive content including a new multiplayer action-inspired battle mode, grueling boss battles, a bevy of exclusive unlockable content and authentic rock venues. Expanded online multiplayer game modes will also allow axe-shredders worldwide to compete head-to-head for true legendary rock status.

What? Boss battles...? O_o An 'action-inspired battle mode'? What the hell is Neversoft doing...?

    Also:
For the first time ever, Guitar Hero fans will also be able to thrash and burn with new wireless guitar controllers available for each platform. The exclusive Gibson guitars will include innovative features such as removable faceplates that will allow fans to later personalize their guitars and make it their own, and a new button color design that will be integrated for an even greater authentic feel and rock experience.

    New button colors...?

Also...what to do...buy it for my PS2 and get the new guitar controller...or buy it for the Wii and have to buy another two controllers for it. I already have three guitars... D:

    That's what I'm talkin' about.

My only reservation is if Neversoft can keep the note patterns as wonderful as Harmonix did. Regardless ... KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA!

Fuck yes! Now all I need is some Pink Floyd and maybe Mars Volta, and I'll be completely satisfied.

Also, that Muse song better be with the original vocals.

The song list is fucking amazing so far (The D!), I'll give it that much. But I'll reserve my judgment for when someone gets their hands on a playable build.

Edit: I'm pretty sure most of those are the master tracks, or at least the ones without the patented "as made famous by" modifier.

I'm a little confused, is the mention of new controllers to suggest that we can't use the old ones? Because I'll be pretty goddamn annoyed if I have to buy a new controller for my 360.

The Metal is fine. I mean, I love the D, but they don't have a whole lot of Guitar Hero-appropriate songs, what with being acoustically based and profanity-laden and all. The only other song by them that I would want is Master Exploder.

Edit: And if my old SG controllers won't be compatible this one I think I will have to choke a bitch.

My first thought was a Guitaroo-Man-style head-to-head battle mode, where you have dueling guitar leads and while keeping your rock meter up you have to drain the other person's rock meter.

It does seem like an extraneous addition, but hey, they feel like they have to do something. So long as there's still offline co-op, I could forgive wonky online play. I just want to see the note charts and hear play impressions.

So what's the deal with master tracks? Are they more expensive? Why not use them all the time?

Especially since they used a cover for The Rolling Stones in GH2.

I want to say it's something tied to RO's patent on the specific key-color pattern on the GH1 and 2 guitars. Kind of like how knock-off DDR mats always try to change enough things to avoid having to pay licensing fees. But I don't know if this is entirely true.

This is exciting news, especially happy about Cherub Rock (ohmanohman), Sabotage and The Metal. Even happier that they appear to be sorting out the 'as made famous by' stuff. Most of the time it doesn't irk me but I couldn't imagine playing a Beastie Boys or Pumpkins song with a generic rock voice...it would just feel...so wrong.
