though the wii does have some interesting controller functionality that helps compensate for the loss of DLC (but not by much). the reason I put it above the ps3 is because it has better online support, at least at the moment.
Played the demo, it's interesting. I don't have much practice invested in the GH games. I can 5 star all but a few songs on medium in GH2 but on Hard I'm pretty inconsistent and on Expert I'm just barely hanging in there on the low tier songs. On medium GH3 scrolls slightly faster than GH2. I like that, definitely. hopos and timing seem to be about the same as GH2, maybe slightly easier.
The models and animations are terrible. I played GH2 and I found those animations looked a lot more convincing to me despite being less detailed. The male singer in GH3 is fucking frightening. The female singer looks ok, which makes sense because it appears to be the exact same model that was used in GH2.
That really blows, but I think I'll get it for the wii anyway as my only other choice is the PS2. The only plus for the PS2 for me would be if I can use my old guitar controllers with it. I don't really plan on playing online anyway, but only having one guitar controller doesn't bother as me and my friends mostly like to try to beat each others scores rather then play versus.

Is there any fundamental differences between the GH3 guitar and the GH2 one? Talking about 360 of course.
The reason being, I'm thinking of buying GH3 but I don't want to buy ANOTHER guitar and have 3 sitting around.. actually, can I buy just the game and save buying a new guitar all together? The GH2 seems to perform fine on the GH3 demo too but I'm wandering if there's some archaic limitation in GH3 to make you spend more money.
Also, is there a worthwhile reason to pre-order aside from having a copy aside, like do you get anything special?

It does, there is keep in mind the strat for rock band as well.
I personally however have a big worry sign over the strat since while harmonix may have the technology for the guitar down pat, I am worried about the build quality that the guitar will come in. I am not saying it's bad, but there is a definite possibility for it to go either way.

Like, what kind of paint and what type of materials did you use for the graphics. 'Cause as awesome as that looks, it's gotten me thinkin' that I'd like to do something like that myself.

for the paint i used Model Master brand spray enamel paint... i don't even know if they make it anymore though, my buddy has like 1000 dollars worth of it he got for free. This stuff worked wonders though, i didn't even have to sand the guitar like some guides suggest.
to be honest, yeah it looks good, but its not the greatest job in that i didnt clear coat it or anything.
which brings me to the graphics....
i'm ashamed to admit this hah, for now they are just pictures rubber cemented on there. The pin-up i cut out of a calendar, and the Hellfish from an old simpsons book i had and rubber cemented them on there.
one point of advice i'll offer is this, if you paint the buttons and the neck, BE CAREFUL, my buddy did and wound up having a very very very sticky yellow button.
and for shits and giggles, the original guitar we customized, we just used krylon fusion paint.
for the boba fett skull we printed out the image, and cut the image into tape on a mirror, then transfered the tape from the mirror to the guitar and sprayed.

All went well but them being collapsible would've been neat.. but than again, it's not like I travel with the 2 guitars often.

I think that whoever is producing the Rock Band guitar would have to be trying pretty hard to out-shit my SG.
The Xplorer? Bah. Tilt sensor is useless. Though, that seems to be mostly GH2...
in other news, finished my 2nd custom guitar, which i am going to just shamelessly post here at the end of this thread.
Edit: looking at the pictures i realize now how random the placement of the flying hellfish and the pinup feel.... hrmmm.

I kinda agree with this, but I like how the actual fret board doesn't shake at all or anything like that. Much easier to concentrate now.
