Switching to my new bigger SD card is just a case of copying everything over on a computer, right?

    Yes

edit: Well that's just a fantastic totp post. Adding quote so there's some context.

Is there any limit to transferring user data between switches? I am thinking about trading in mine for the newer model and was wondering if I could do the system transfer to my son's switch and then get the new one and transfer it again into that one. There isn't a one transfer per year thing is there?

As of this morning the SNES controllers are still available for order and the site is running fine, so we were able to save the trouble of shipping the controller ourselves. Unfortunately urahonky's extra order can't be cancelled, but he said he could use a second, so it's cool. And of course, he's still awesome!

I'm pretty sure there's no limit. I searched online for a second and others said the same thing.

Witcher 3's big Switch patch is rolling out worldwide, with various users in different areas getting it already (Korea and parts of Europe). EDIT: Patch is now live in the US as of about an hour ago.

It adds a bunch of graphics options including:
    Bloom
    Sharpen
    Depth of Field
    Depth of Field for Cut-scenes
    Chromatic Aberration
    Water Quality
    Foliage Visibility Range
    Anti-Aliasing

    https://wccftech.com/witcher-3-switch-patch-3-6-cross-save-graphic-options/

There are comparison pics at the link but I don't like them because they're really low quality jpgs that look like they've been uploaded and re-uploaded to 3 different sites (which is probably true). But even so, you can see a difference.

EDIT: Here's a good comparison, open in 2 tabs and click between them:
    default visuals
    high sharpening turned on

Also apparently adds cross save support with the PC version?! From a menu right in the game, no SD card shenanigans?

They haven't said anything specifically either way about this, but I wonder if a factor is how much later the port was made, and specific decisions made by Saber Interactive. As far as I know, the original was CDPR on all platforms but Saber may have had some different goals in mind.

It's possible that the original release over 4 years ago used a different save file format for each platform, but for this one they decided going into it that they wanted to maximize compatibility and leave this import/export as an option, especially taking into account the mobile nature of the Switch - export to Switch, take it with you on a long trip, re-import to PC when you get back.

Just a guess but I wouldn't be surprised.

But does it have gyro aim? That's critical for a Switch release.

Edit: Looks like it does! Good to see that developers have stopped being inexplicably surprised that Switch players want it.

Interesting. We've had a Pokémon Direct, a Smash Direct (with some Fire Emblem stuff attached), and now an Animal Crossing Direct.

Wonder if this is a sign Nintendo is moving away from more general Directs or if it just happened to happen this way.

Witcher has cross save with PC, meanwhile a first party title, AC, is so abyssmal save management wise.

What is this I don't even.

I was tempted to grab that Animal Crossing Switch, as the better battery life is appealing and the JoyCon colours are lovely, but it doesn't include the dang game. That seems super weird, non?

It's actually better, because it doesn't force you into a physical/digital copy

That being said, you'll have to keep an eye out for pre-orders to open back up. I don't think you can order it from anywhere except eBay at the moment.

    Speaking of Altus switch ports:
IGN asked Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula if it was finally time for fans to give up on hope for a potential port during a Persona 5 Royal preview event earlier this month, to which she responded “I am a strong believer in ‘never ever give up on hope’.”

    ...

“You want what you want,” she explained, “and if you don't let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.” Advincula said Atlus is listening and does see the desire for Persona 5 on Switch, saying “it’s important to always voice your opinion.”

Advincula encouraged fans to “keep telling us what you want,” saying she was fighting for it internally as well. However, it’s important to point out that she also said she’s obviously “not the decision-maker” in a situation like this despite being an “internal champion” for it, so this shouldn’t be taken as an indication of what is happening or could happen down the line.

Who knows if it'll work, but get to (gently) pestering.

Okay, Atlus, let's call your bluff. How's about Persona 3 Plus (reworked to be like the original P3 Festival edition), Persona 4 Golden AND Persona 5 Royal, all as Switch releases, if you want us to make our voices known? You have a bunch of amazing games you're just letting languish on dead systems, get them back out there for a new generation of gamers!
