Anyone have any opinions on this Viewsonic? User opinions are very positive, and I have had several people recommend the Viewsonic brand, but I have seen zero professional reviews. $260 for a 22-inch widescreen this nice seems a little too good to be true.

bestbuy has 22" acers for like $190 or something this week, might be out of them already though

that viewsonic is optiquest which means enjoy the terrible image quality and probably tons of ghosting

and as with all 22" monitors its a 6-bit so you will have viewing angles that are terrible

Thanks for the heads up. After doing a little research and seeing so many satisfied customers over at the HardOCP forums, I went to my closest BB and they had tons of them. The employee who helped me find them in the store was pretty floored by the price, and told me I was the only one to ask about them all day. He then ran off to tell his co-worker about the deal (heh).

Anyway long story short I took one home. Gonna hook it up soon.

I already let Tzen know over AIM how this thing is, but for the benefit of anyone else curious: It rocks. No noticeable ghosting in games, mine came with zero dead pixels (I checked with Dead Pixel Buddy), the screen is bright and beautiful.

The only thing I can complain about is a lack of height adjustment, but considering I paid a hair over $200 for it after tax, I think I can buy a tiny $5 table to raise it up a bit without griping.

Dunno what your price range is, but I own this: http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/nec-multisync-20wmgx2-flat/4505-3174_7-31627974.html?tag=prod.txt.1

Amazing contrast ratio (1600:1), clarity, almost completely perfect next to other monitors i've seen. Only drawback is slight glare, but I think it's worth it as long as you can afford it.

There's a thread with a pretty bitchin' first post (tech stuff, buyer's guide, models to steer clear of) over at Anandtech.

I think I'd rather have two 20.1" monitors than a single one for the same amount of money. Or spend a few bucks more and get a 24" monitor. That's a seriously expensive LCD considering the size. I don't think I could justify it unless I were doing design work that required super high image quality. And then I'd just use a huge CRT because they're cheap and have way better color accuracy than any LCD monitor.

i bought an HP w2207 a couple months ago and am very very happy with it. didnt hurt that i got it discounted down to 300 and change, but it still would have been worth it at the original asking price (350 i think)

May i ask which Acer you went for? Was it the AL2216Wsd, AL2223W, or X222W (only ones i can find.)

The very existense of flame throwers proves that at sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves "I want to set those people over there on fire, but i'm just not close enough to get the job done."

I just bought a new 22" LCD in April...It's a Sceptre X22WG. I had been using my 21" Cornerstone CRT for the past 6 years, and switching to this new one, I am blown away. The sharpness, brightness and color clarity is striking to me, which I didn't quite expect. Now, is that due to this monitor specifically, or a statement of how far LCDs have progressed in the past few years? Dunno, but I'm happy either way. Claims to have a 2ms response and a 2000:1 contrast ratio, in native 1680x1050. Has built in speakers, but I don't care for those and don't use them. Very bright screen, as well.

Got mine from Newegg for about $250 http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16824112009

This is the link to BestBuy.com's page for the monitor on sale. It's noted as the AL2223WD. I'm pretty sure that is the model noted on the LCD itself, but I will double-check when I get home from work.

Quoting this in case anyone missed it. Amazingly helpful.
