  • I think that if someone with a pistol said they would kill me if I didnt eat 30 pizzas I would make a pretty good attempt at it but that is a long time to activdly enforce a threat of death Im probably going to try and get that pistol once they seem as bored as theyre going to get watching me eat pizza

I would certainly imagine that Pizza Jigsaw would provide the pizzas, probably nasty ones

  • CouscousCouscous Registered User regular
Would it count as eating the pizzas if I occasionally vomited up a pizza or two?

  • Pizza Jigsaw is probably going to insist that any vommed up pizza that is still recognisably pizza needs to get back inside you

Pizza Jigsaw uses Fear Factor rules, if you can swallow it and show no pizza in your mouth you're allowed to immediately go vom

Question about Beamsaber: between mech skills being their own thing and vehicle quirks being used to resist and push, what's even the use of mech gear? What mechanical advantages does it give?

The use of mech gear would be the same as the use of personal gear. It lets you do stuff.

Like, oh, you want some lockpicks? Check the lockpicks off on your gear sheet. You want your mech to have a big rocket-hammer? Check off the exotic melee weapon on your mech gear.

More specifically, you can try to do stuff without that gear, but it will reduce the potential effect you'll have

Part of the theory of FitD games is that equipment doesn't give mechanical advantages (unless it is fine gear, which isn't a thing for mech gear I don't think which is totally a thing for mechs but isn't entirely worth getting into at this moment), but rather provides narrative opportunity. Having a gun doesn't mean that you do more damage than if you had a sword, it means that you can easily fight from a distance - you could probably still use that sword from a distance, but it might be a desperate action instead of a risky one.

Mech gear is the same way, essentially. There are several different weapons, each of which might have different narrative uses (covering fire is probably going to work better with a machine gun than a directed energy weapon), as well as a variety of more general upgrades - having passenger space means you don't have to stuff people into the cockpit with you, destruction tools are probably a better fit for a wreck action than just shooting a building to death, and so on.

So it's a limiter to the approaches a character can have in solving scenarios?

    Sort of?

I mean yes, it is, but also remember that equipment works on a flashback system in FitD games. So it is more a limiter of the number of approaches a character can have on this mission, and those approaches begin the mission undefined.

Edit: not the flashback system, a flashback system. The stress stuff doesn't apply to equipment, it's just a general theory of flashbacks.

I definitely played FFX at least a little when it came out

the only thing I strongly remember is I got to a place that had very big mushrooms before I had to take it back to Blockbuster

also I was at a friend's while he was playing the end of the game and I remember the final boss looking like a Skulltula

To continue this daisychain of answers, there really isn't a specific mechanical advantage to gear, personal or mech. The advantage gear gets you is in the fictional positioning - you can always roll Wreck to take someone out, but it's going to be a hell of a lot easier (translated to increased effect, or possibly a less risky position) if you have an actual weapon

Since position and effect are set by the GM, gear in turn is only as effective as a GM wants it to be, both in terms of how much improvement they allow when gear does come into play, and how punishing they make rolls that don't make use of gear

"I Don't Want To Talk About Fight Club Anymore" is infuriating. It's amazing to hear these people just be completely unattached to the project they are currently participating.

The guy is 24 hours in and just said "I picked fight club because I thought it would make a fun name for a podcast, I'm only now just realizing there are some parallels with the movie pivoting around insomnia."
