how would everyone feel if this thread turned into a Bong Joon-Ho filmography watchalong

as someone whose DVD of Barking Dogs Never Bite is showing up today

    pretty good

the only one I don't have is Memories of Murder since I literally cannot buy it, but I've watched it on the extremely sketchy site it's on

One step closer to making Bong Joon-Ho an irredeemable rich elite. Good job.

She said, "You're pretty good with words, but words won't save your life."
    And they didn't.
    So he died.

So there's a single repeat screening of Parasite at the big downtown Embassy Theatre this weekend on their main screen and I guess I've got my Saturday sorted.

I just found Memories is on youtube, which I'll assume is the extremely sketchy site you mean.

Now that it turns out that the pizza box video scene was a real video filmed in Ottawa I almost feel required to go see it again at the local indie theatre that has been playing Parasite for like a month straight, so I can find out if the audience cheers when they start huddling over the phone

    What a hometown hero

watching Barking Dogs Never Bite, which uh, really goes for it

my man here really started out his film career with a comedy/thriller with so much dog murdering

Barking Dogs Never Bite is a weird movie

there's a lot of proto-Bong touches in there but a) man there is some dog murder and b) I don't think most of the points coalesce clearly in the same way they do with the work of his that I've seen?

I liked it, and it really is fun to see that Bong's first movie is still on the "yo the class structure is fucked and seems permanent, don't take out your frustrations on a dog you fucking moron" kick

what I found interesting about it is all of the characters are either a) unemployed and ashamed or b) employed and insecure

everyone is thinking about what their career means to them and what happens to them if they can no longer define themselves by their job

and it seems like the lead seemed pretty dissatisfied after BEING employed and Doona Bae was having the time of her life hiking?

I like Barking Dogs Never Bite but it is hard to watch...on account of all of the dog murder.

Memories of Murder is some A+ top tier shit

I don't understand how a cop movie about a serial killer is regularly hilarious without undercutting the emotional weight of what's going on
