People have gotten awards for playing against type before and transitioning from "mass-market film" to "genuine cinema" or whatever BS terms you want to apply but it's become increasingly clear to me that the Oscars is just a big Hollywood clique club and is basically an over-glorified high school homecoming as far as the merit of candidates and thought given to selecting the winners.
Brain worms is bad, stop using it. And yeah, if I came into work and 95% of the days I deliberately shit my pants and went home early, I wouldn't expect to get an award for the 5% of the days I do a really good job. Because I'm the "Sorry but I have to go home because I shit my pants" guy.
