Eli Roth is fine. I'm not the biggest fan of his genre of horror but the guy is definitely SUPER enthused about the horror medium and seems to bring a pretty good degree of passion to everything he works on.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. He's super enthused about super gross practical effects and female nudity, let's say instead.

What part of "fingering a rotting hole in his dying girlfriend" has to do with growing up queer in the 1950s?

Super gross practical effects in the context of a horror movie is absolutely what I'd classify as "fine". Like, how can you have an issue with that? His type of horror has existed since the start of the horror genre.

I do recall him having some weird thoughts on women getting nude in film which I absolutely don't agree with that but I don't really see how that makes him a bad person.

Super gross practical effects can absolutely rule.

Roth's though are there specifically for the pornograohy of torturing the people in his movie and that's kind of gross.

I'm not sure I'm expressing myself very well but Eli Roth's violence is bad.

I'm saying he's interested in just making incredibly gross scenes, he's not interested in horror at all.

Nah, I know what you mean. Honestly his stuff isn't for me either - though I was one of those people that just had to see Hostel due to the hype.

That being said, his particular style of horror has always been around the fringes of horror with things like Cannibal Holocaust, etc.

Eli Roth seems like a director who would look at Borderlands, which can have genuinely interesting stories told in its worlds (hi, Tales), and ignore all of the neat shit to triple down on the violence, innuendo and little person jokes

Yeah, I think this is the most likely outcome too.
That said, I'm not really convinced that Borderlands deserves better.

    Whoa!

"On Tuesday, Hawk announced on Instagram that Pretending I’m a Superman, a documentary about the immortal Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game series, will be premiering at the festival on February 29. He’ll be in attendance for a panel with Rodney Mullen and the filmmakers to discuss the film."

Eli Roth is basically just clean cut Rob Zombie. Two dudes who live and breath Texas Chain Saw Massacre with absolutely no idea why that movie worked and theirs don’t.

From the sound of things Borderlands 3 doesn't do right by any of the Tales characters, so as far as I'm concerned it's dead to me
