Nothing More after a middling self-titled album (could have cut half the tracks) is back and reclaiming their crown as the best hard rock band in the world, and to be frank a resuscitation of the entire genre.
Their bass-heavy, sneering, proggy hard rock is a really unique take. Their lead singer Johnny Hawkins is a rare talent with a sick set of abs. This is Undertow-era Tool by way of Billy Talent, with a saturated wash of modern metal and hardcore. This is complex music written in a way that is easy to follow, a melodic rainbow with ragged edges and scars.
And to really incorporate the modern era into hard rock, these guys are vegans and implement a lot of philosophy into their work, with a particular fondness for Alan Watts.
The Youtube algorithm can sometimes be real good, because it just dropped this video of Craig Finn and The Mountain Goats doing "This Year" live, and it's a pretty killer version.
Hey, thanks for this! The little tweak they do at the end made me laugh, because I am a fucking dork.
Alright so look shut up the new Modern Warfare 2 trailer dropped and I just happened across it on Twitter and it uses this song and shit goes hard as fuck
Very chill, very YYY, the horny mobile is breathtakingly surreal, KO street surfing on its roof a la Teen Wolf is life affirming, and her outfit is fucking amazing.

And yeah, "I am doing this for revenge!" is a great line that was tailor-made to be sung along at the top of your lungs with a few hundred other assholes at the Stone Pony, and I can't wait.

Phoebe Bridgers' only new music of 2022 is here and it's a killer song.

I've been learning the g major scale a bit on my guitar and it's been pretty fun because I can actually kinda noodle and make little musical sounding statements now for once.

Back when I was a youth going to the Pony meant seeing a band in a dive bar, trying not to get beat up and mugged if you went for a walk after and enjoying yourself.
Now it's going to see a show outdoors in a borderline resort town and going to get fingerbanged at Porta afterwards or something

Yeah, but Porta does have some dope pizza, at least. And sometimes you get to share a table with an extremely drunk drag queen, so that’s always a fun time.
But yeah, the stark change in Asbury Lanes is even wilder. That used to be a complete shit hole that all the best punk bands stopped at and the stage they rolled out onto the bowling lanes always looked like it was about to fall over if anyone looked at it too hard but at least you could get 2 dollar PBRs. And now it’s… uh… extremely nice. And you most definitely can’t get 2 dollar PBRs.

Pick up some positions in D and Eb and you're on your way to this:
I did manage to play through the g major scale up and down without looking at the neck or strings earlier today so I'm memorizing the pattern pretty well I think. I had to do it even slower than normal but I did it.

I always advise people to concentrate on accuracy first and foremost, as speed can be built up over time and repetition. Take it as slow as you need to get the muscle memory down and learn the shapes and fingerings in as any many places on the neck as your number of strings, tuning, and frets will allow. The better the fingerboard map in your head is, the more versatile you become, and the better your improv potential gets as you're less apt to get lost in the wilderness and wind up lacking ways to continue ideas.

Thoughts?
Haven't liked the last two MG albums as much as I'd have hoped but based on the concept and this first offering I'm very pyched.

edit: I saw a proper movie poster version of that image and I desire it like one would desire the One Ring
Why are the other positions of the pentatonic scale so much harder!?
Also chords are really hard to switch still.

He said he thought I am almost there to where I know enough and am good enough to just about play with a band.
I personally think my timing and ear needs a lot of work particularly before anything like that but it really feels good to hear that.
