Though he is 74 and has Parkinson’s so uh this kinda just makes sense. Dudes seemingly still looking for places to perform local to himself so he won’t have to do all the city to city and country to country travel. So like you might have to go to ozzy instead of him coming to you but he’s still looking to do shows.
I totally missed JER's debut album last year. He's the mad genius behind the Ska Tune Network youtube channel, and he's put out a couple of fantastic singles leading up to this album. But it's out now and it rules. Such a fucking cool blend of ska, indie rock, punk, and hip hop.
Just a heads up, Jer is nonbinary and uses They/Them pronouns. But yes, they make some very dope music.

continuing my dive into dungeonsynth and man, just... Vibes. Vibes for days. half of it is nostalgia for old school RPGs like Might and Magic; or maybe it's just nostalgia to when I was six years old and a videogame with dragons and castles seemed like the most amazing thing ever. The other half? depression, melancholia, weltschmerz; you name it, I have it.
If you are a millennial of a certain age, like me, who got into metal as a tween/teen, like me, you probably listened to a lot of Lacuna Coil at some point. Today, they released a full re-record of their 2002 album Comalies, including a lot of updates and changes to the songs. But it is still, undeniably, the album I remember from when I was a dipshit 14 year old.
It's kinda giving me emotions.
I am so conflicted on this - on the one hand I love the new instrumentation and Christina's audio, but on the other hand the fucking growling... it just clashes so much with my memories of Lacuna Coil, I find myself enjoying and cringing in equal measure

Henk with freaking t-shirt and jeans killing it with the added fry in his second verse and that freaking last note...a 10 second, straight tone E6, even Brightman would respect that.

Since my upstairs neighbors have started being loud again I've been to scared to pickup my guitar and turn on my amp really at all and I feel like I'm probably atrophying what little practice had earned me the past few months.
I'm bummed about it especially after getting the new guitar and amp and all to focus on while my mom is laid up. Makes me feel like I have given up on it already even though I'm hopefully only taking a break.
I think next time I pick it up though I'm going to start trying to learn some different scale shapes. If only other positions of the major scale shape, or maybe playing it up and down the neck more to get used to actually moving around the neck rather than stay so static in one position.
I also gotta pick one song to just learn the whole thing. If only in chords.
I'll have to find my capo and learn wonderwall maybe, or finish learning wish you were here which is similar anyway but doesn't use the capo.
I also need to get over my fear of the metronome and actually get a sense of rythym and build up speed on some scales and chord changes.

But neighbors being loud is the universal symbol for “it is now okay to practice guitar, loudly.”

The new Depeche Mode track, the first single off their upcoming 15th studio album, just dropped and as a longtime fan I think this the best they’ve sounded in like 20 years, minimum:
It's Bandcamp Friday, so here's some of the stuff I've been listening to the last couple of weeks (none of this is new, just new to me, and maybe you).

Been on a huge Sleep Token kick since the new tracks started releasing, found this live performance on YT and watched it a few times already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcdOelgezq8
I have an incredible need to shout "OH GOD I WISH YOU WERE HERE" at Vessel in person, and II's live drumming is so incredibly tight. Praying for a big US tour with this album.
Half a watt on the power selector. Master volume to halfway. Enough to reverb in my sternum though.
Got my neighbor to shut her music off with the intro to iron man and a few chord change practices I usually do though. So objective achieved.

Garbage, Metric, and Noel Gallagher are playing Central Park in July and holy shit it’s been a while since I’ve seen a big show that’s seemingly laser targeted at me.

I was hoping to see him do his solo stuff but I can understand seeing to your health first.

But yeah I could
I turned my amp to 25 watts and 20 percent master volume the other day to test the aux inputs when she was being pretty loud with her music.
I think I might have to be careful about tripping the breaker if I turn it to 50watts.
But look, I get the aversion to confrontation. But at the same time, fuck her.
