A day late, but I got Chernobog on Auto-Deploy now. Easy 1200 currency, nom nom nom.
Still like barely into chapter 2 since I keep focusing on the EXP/Cash missions. Sort of hit the wall now where my units all need specific things to promote so I guess its time to start opening up story stages to farm those rare materials.

Edit: Oh, forgot. I got another Lava out of recruitment today, but she's already at full unlocks from dupes. Is there something I can do with her token now? I probably missed something in the store to convert it to generic currency I imagine.

This is probably very obvious to many, but I realized I hadn't done it yet:

    https://gamepress.gg/arknights/tier-list/arknights-operator-tier-list#caster

Review that list against what you have. Note who your best in slot is, and then who you'll replace them with. Try to sink resources only into your best in slot characters rather than getting willy nilly. This can help you plan your team progression.

Edit: This won't do anything magical, but it'll help you not upgrade stuff willy nilly when you're trying to think through progression.

I just took all 3* to E1 40~ish. All it takes is exp and money. Which is really easy to get if that's all you want.

As I progress, if I run into a map where it feels like my strategy is right but I'm failing a stat check, I'll pull out a 4+ unit and raise them to fill the slot. It's worked pretty well so far.

One of these days I'll have to look into the specialist roles tho. I haven't messed with any of them yet.

This is probably the best way to do it. For me, it was helpful to know whether I'm no longer leveling someone because they've been replaced. It would have been nice if I'd done this a bit ago as I'd have saved some XP and coins, but whatevs, game has been out a couple days.

In my experience so far, the first time you need to understand the specialists the game will bash your brains in about it. "THIS MAP REQUIRES YOU TO PUSH STUFF. PUUUUUSH."

Reminder that there isn't a limit on credit gained from visiting clue exchanges, so big friends list = more credit income. (It's kind of silly how fast that can add up with people actively using and trading clues)

Clue party ending (+210) and visiting 4 (+120) meant I had to burn credits down today. This is a good problem to have, since it basically just becomes free upgrade mats.

Yeah, was reading that. You need to be below 300 credits every day. Really you might as well just buy whatever is on 75% discount plus the character every chance you get, I think?

I believe it's the only source for the two characters available that way. More copies show up based on total credits spent. And you get exactly 6 copies of each so you get to max them out from it. It's nice.

How is my entire line-up of units anime catgirls, a couple of human (female) and a manticore (female?)

I'm all for women being bad ass, and I'm glad there's really little to no cheesecake in the art/design of the characters, but like, what, does the Infection go after one gender mostly? I know there's a few male characters in the game, but literally, 12 units on my team, not a one is male.

Target demographics still apply. And I take it you don't have SilverAsh then because I usually throw him out in place of a defender and laugh as he murders things. Looking forward to promoting him and getting his second skill that lets him turn into a tank.

Started with Silver and Angie. Just kept the first double 6* with Silver. Game has been going just fine. Got Chernabog on auto 300+ with my collection of 5*s and 4*s and one 3* tank. Farming the xp, monies and chips. About halfway into 2. Fun game!

When I rolled, I ended up with Siege and Angelina as my 6*s. Other than the "free" 5*s you get as part of launch/course of the game, I have a few good-looking options. Manticore is interesting because she can't block anything, but she's a melee unit with an AoE attack and can hit 2 squares directly in front of her, so she's nice to sit behind a tank and just crunch units that pile up in front of them.

The only "men" I have look like lizard boys.

My MVP other than Silver because he is just nuts has been Gummy. She has the ability to block multiple and heal herself and allies close to her. She is really strong early and is only a 4* so easy to upgrade. She will be my first 4* I E1. Just need the money which I can get today I think.

I'm having a hard time figuring out when to use Vanguard/Guard, and when to use defenders. I keep thinking I'll have found a spot where I can let the defender take aggro and the vanguard can keep hitting, but it keeps not quite working out. Are Vanguards there to just sandbag while I get a proper defensive area set up behind them?

Some Vanguards will actually refund their cost when you recall them; so I try to use them as actual Guards until they can't handle and then just quickly pull them out before they die and then drop a Guard in with the refunded point boost.

My three uses for Vanguard are sandbagging, a cheap deploy if something comes up, or using Plume (who can only block one) to thin out lanes by putting her two squares in front of a defender.

Defenders (mostly) block 2-4 and have higher defense. Guards (mostly) block 1 and have higher attack.

I'm sure there's uses for guards but I haven't really found them yet. Vanguards seem preferable to get the roster slot. I would eventually turn all vanguards into guards if I had unlimited roster, but I don't. (SilverAsh is the exception and he is a Defender Guard Ranged god)

defenders are meat walls who can block 2-4 units depending on type/skills and tend to have lower attack but high defense. their skills center primarily around healing/buffing their defensive stats.

guards are melee dps units who can only block 1-3 units depending on type but have much higher attack and lower defense. their skills center around aoe dps/buffing themselves to do damage.

vanguards are melee units intended to be deployed at the start of a map to hold the line and give you a chance to establish defenses. they have much lower deploy costs than defenders/guards and tend to be less survivable since they're intended to be temporary. in return, they will either have a skill that increases the amount of deploy points you have so you can drop units faster or gain deploy points on kill and can be recalled for a full refund on DP.

there are a few exceptions to these general archetypes but by and large this is how you're supposed to use them

Guards are also there to 1 on 1 certain units. Unless an enemy is ranged, they don't melee attack your units as they pass through them; they only melee them if they get blocked. You can use a guard to slow down or kill a particular enemy unit.

The Annihilation tutorial on the 1st page of the thread shows an excellent example at around 350 kills.

I believe robot-sexy-women being android-cloned boats could be substituted for android-cloned guns and the point is still valid. I doubt the class of weaponry was the pressing matter.

GFL had a surprisingly dark tone to the story in general, let along compared to Azure Lane where half the events are the ships organizing parties.

Still early in the game but Arknights story feels a LOT closer to GFL's dark post apocalypse setting.

I feel like I should note four special Vanguards that are out now.

Siege might as well say Vanguard+Guard. She's the best of both worlds: cheap cost gen, good damage, and tanky all in one single package.
Texas does AoE Magic Damage that Stuns and hits both armored enemies and fliers.
Zima isn't especially special by herself other than being solid and a Courier+++, but her second skill buffs every other Vanguard on the field.
Vigna is a much better Plume, a 1-block fully self-refunding Vanguard that gens cost per enemy killed by her. She's also maybe the highest damaging Vanguard in the game with her second skill as a 4Star (though she doesn't have the durability of the others).
