Streets of Rage 4 is even more delightful than I'd dared hope. It's glorious.
And Blaze's idling hair flip has to be a strong contender for "sexiest thing in a 2020 video game" when it's awards time.
You can't just say something like that without a video clip, or at least a gif.
It loses something in the translation, I think, but since I couldn't actually find a gif/clip of it, I had to make one. Which proved tricky when my Xbox's upload to OneDrive was being finicky and un-co-operative, as it often is. (Yes, I was playing it on the Xbox, because Game Pass.) I'm no @HiT BiT, but I did my best!

Are we not talking about Gears Tactics? I've spent 30 minutes in this game and haven't even left the settings. These are by far the best settings I've ever seen in a PC game. After years of having no idea what bloom, ambient occlusion, and dynamic shadows are this game just explained everything to me in 2 minutes in the settings menu with real time examples.
I'd love to talk more, but sadly all I can offer is "I can't wait for it to come to Xbox One."
Also it's weird that there's this narrative forming that Chimera Squad was rushed because of the spectre of Gears Tactics, when it's clearly a cheaper side game and not a 60 dollar title in a huge billion dollar franchise like Gears Tactics is.
Maybe I'd like Gears Tactics too, because the strategy layer was always the part of XCOM that gave me trouble, but Chimera Squad has a very light version of that that I think I can manage.

The only thing really bothering me about Chimera Squad right now is that I can't recruit new operatives whenever I want/need, I can't assign an android to the APC at the start of a mission, and I can't assign an android to one of the strategy slots. It's forcing me to take wounded soldiers out into the field and keep strategy slots vacant.
So I have a question for the Steam gifting veterans. There is a game I'm trying to send a friend who lives in the USA. I can buy it in Canada, but I can't buy it as a gift and send it to them due to "regional pricing". Can I buy it and then send it via inventory?

They took out buying games to your inventory a while ago. Your best bet is gifting them steam bux, or getting a key elsewhere
I finished up Streets of Rage 4. Pretty short, as you'd expect. I enjoyed it but... I'm glad it was on Gamepass and I didn't buy it. It sticks to its roots amazing well and feels great to play (aside from walking speed being so slow), but missing a few modern day updates makes it less great to me than it could have been. I'll run through a round or two coop and see if it clicks more, but I don't really see myself playing much more.
Also, the unlockable pixel versions of chars are neat but they are gimped compared to the others. Axel was, at least. He had no Y move, which is the ONLY manner of defense in the game, and it's not ideal as it is. Y on him uses his star power instead, so one level with him was enough for me =p.
CoolJammer - I think for Chimera Squad people are feeling that way both because of the timing and CS being so buggy. I definitely had the same thought, myself, though I loved every second of the game aside from the 2 crashes I had and the many bugs I ran into. It's the first Xcom I've enjoyed and I played through the whole thing in 2 or 3 nights because I was digging it so much.
As the series goes on she looks like she stops bothering to protect her head. To be fair, it may not be an immediate thought given that she also looks like she needs to pee as the series goes on.
Is the restriction game by game, or just a general thing where Canadians cannot buy games for Americans?
Pretty much the latter, on account of exchange rate / "regional pricing" fuckery.
Yeah, publishers can manually set regional prices, which might lower the delta so that it's not blocked... But most just user the default, so it's not of a general thing
Blaze has killed 100 armed thugs over the years with her bare hands and kung-fu kicks. If she wants to fight with her knees locked together, who are we to say otherwise?

Gears Tactics is really good so far. I will say there is one screaming exception: It's inventory sysem SUCKS.
But the game itself is great, ignoring that wrinkle. It's got a much better system of your guys getting shot not being the worst thing ever, and really cool ways to swing momentum in your favour.
Making Sid run over and bayonet someone for a one hit kill, which then gives him another action so he can load up overwatch or similar stunts is great
Also it's gears, so everything is hilariously testosterone poisoned. Your team gets hyped up when you execute a downed foe, giving everyone else more actions. This snowballs. It's great
Finally it's on games pass, so you know it costs peanuts to play right now. I would have to subscribe to games pass for over two years to exceed the cost of just buying it off steam, which seems very silly!
Humble sent me a coupon to get a year at the $12 USD per month price. I'm tempted, even though my backlog has been growing too fast even with me trying not to buy anything. A few questions might help me make a decision.
Can the subscriptions still be paused? Can you see any or all of what's coming for the next month before pausing or quitting?
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

Yes and yes, as far as I know. The Reddit threads for each month's choices generally have two things: 1) a list of those choices, and 2) people announcing their intent to pause their subscriptions.

Thank you so much. That makes it much easier.
Oh, a note -- you can't pause the first month. When you subscribe, you're automatically in for one month, and then you get 11 credits which are pausable.
Now that I look, apparently the window for pausing and unpausing is between 10 AM PT on the first Friday of a month (when the choices are revealed) and the last Friday of the month, when auto-billing will kick in.

Playing games to escape and hide from the madness while occasionally peeking my head out or running for supplies. Hope everyone is doing well or at least as well as they can considering the varying circumstances.
So I saw this morning that Maneater is finally releasing on May 22. As an EGS exclusive (which I already knew was gonna happen).
I twitched.
This is going to be a massive test of my anti-Epic resolve, I gotta say. It hurts. I want this game something fierce. I've wanted this since the first teaser.

How do I stay strong, O Steam Thread?
Wait for it to release on Steam and then buy it there.
Just make a couple Black Desert Online characters and 6-12 months will be gone before you know it.
Okay, the more i'm playing gear tactics the more baffled i am.
Where the HELL was the marketing push for this game? I saw shit all about this game until suddenly! Released! Reviews are really good! Good enough for me to go "huh, that sounds really interesting".
And now i'm playing it, and like outside of the inventory system (Which is not irredeemable, just too fiddley), it's really good! Does really good things with the tactical formula!
Storytelling is only okay, but it's not bad or anything either, just forgettable so far - maybe it has more impact if you've played gears before or something
But the gameplay is so strong! Where the HELL was the marketing push on this!?
Anyway, yeah, you like tactics games: Please do yourself a favor and play this. It's even pretty bug free (The worst i've encountered is not being able to switch characters manually, a reload fixed that, and some slow animations on a boss)

Effectively yes, if the regional pricing of a gift that's trying to go between regions is too great Steam won't let it through.
For a long time, gifting people in Europe wouldn't work except maybe a third of the time.
Steam Wallet money is giftable, isn't it?
