That is the most generic looking film superhero costume I think I've ever seen
it is, but Shang-Chi is also a hero that almost never actually needs to be in costume. He's perfect for street clothes superheroics, which looks to be the case in the teaser
(also it's a little thing but the clip of him punching the training log synced to the beat of the soundtrack was a cool touch)
Punching or shooting to the beat of the score is kinda a newer version of a slew of trailers using the inception bwaaaam.

Shang Chi remains the one Marvel movie upcoming that I have any anticipation for, and most of that is excitement at seeing a mostly Asian cast and just... the stakes are lower and there’s no big CGI laser-army to punch at the end, so all they really have to fall back on is “making an exciting Kung fu movie”
Like I’m a lapsed comic book person, and I don’t have a ton of knowledge of the Shang Chi character, so I don’t think a lot of people in the audience will either, which means the movie has to work as a movie and not as a collection of predetermined character traits, references, and fan service
i would never count out the mcu's ability to insert a laser army in the third act
Not after WandaVision.
I mean
The literally Ten Rings are in this movie. This is probably not gonna end with an entirely practical fight scene.
Also hey its hilarious that somebody accused this trailer of showing you the entire movie. I don't know shit about what this movie is about except that the Ten Rings exist and Shang-chi has been trained his entire life and then was given a ten year gap of freedom. That's not a movie.

I don't hate the costume, but at the very least I think it could stand to be sleeveless, perhaps they are zip offs for when things get serious.

Oh hey, Nathan Filion as Wonderman!
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Did anybody happen to get Way of X? There are a lot of X-titles coming out, so I'm at my budget basically, but it's Spurrier doing a Nightcrawler focused title and the idea looks interesting.

It didn't super grab me so far, it's mostly a long issue of nightcrawler being Very Uncomfortable with Krakoa, ending on him visiting Blindfolds grave...
and getting ambushed by Legion
So it's got a good core pitch and it's tackling some rich story stuff, but it's not an instant banger in the way SWORD #1 was
they brought back maggott, so now the goalpost i have set for me to ever give hickman era x-men a shot is if fan favorite character joseph gets in the mix
Oh are they finally addressing the Blindfold/Legion stuff? That's exciting
Kinda sorta?
Spoilers below
Basically, in between Kurt raising serious issues with Krakoa but struggling to actually doing anything about it, there's a running mention of The Patchwork Man, who seems to be a new boogieman. Xavier even has a nightmare about this, talks to kurt about it, concluding it's probably Legion and admitting that he (Xavier) is a terrible fucking dad. Great going Xavy boy.
So Kurt heads to Blindfold's grave, and proceeds to get lectured by Legion, called out on the whole no procogs on Krakoa thing, and by the looks of things at the end of the issue, is in the process of being actively disintergrated by Legion. So it MIGHT be, or it might just be framing Legion to be the villian for this.

Considering that
Si Spurrier wrote basically the only Legion series ever and never wrote him as a villain, I would be extremely surprised if that were the case.

Ah, that's good to know! I'm really not aware of his ovure as a writer, and i dont think i've read anything of his before. (i should hunt it down!). I was just reacting to how it was framed within the issue, which is... not friendly.
Thanks for the info, everybody. I think I'll wait for the trade, but I'm liking what I'm hearing.
Spurrier's Legion was indeed a great title (I also liked his Doctor Aphra btw.) and with Krakoa's policies of no precogs on Krakoa (except if you're Betsy or Tarot apparently... nevermind), Legion would have very good reasons to be a "villain". I trust Spurrier enough to write him better than just the villain though.

he does!
yeah i don't see the correlation
also like, he's literally looked like that since before Marvel contacted him. He probably looked like that when he was an accountant!

He flexes and the sleeves explode.
I am going to be furious if this does not happen.
It does appear to have rolled up sleeves.
I always think of that guy as MCU Austin Walker.
