I'd still rather combine Thor with Aquaman, so for the time being my Superman partner will likely remain Spider-Man, aka the Super-Spider.

Simple change, but how about hero + villain?

Superman + Magneto = The Chosen
Believes he is the second Jewish messiah who will usher in the seventh eon of peace, no matter what it takes!

Captain America + Lex Luther = Manifest
Government sanctioned super-intelligent super-soldier turned politician, who has one chance to do good... but will he?

    Batman + Kingpin = Linchpin
Billionaire arms dealer with an off the books paramilitary organisation code-named “Utility Belt” will take New Gotham City for his own, without question, but will he destroy himself in the process?

    Miles Morales + Loki = Mischief-Man
A lowkey street-smart hero who uses gadgets and tricks to defeat his foes, coupled with the power granted to him by a radioactive fire!

Oh I like these. This is a fun twist on the game.

Superman is a difficult one, I think mixing him up with Captain America was the best thing the original Amalgam could do.

Silver Surfer can be a possibility: Krypton gets eaten by Galalaxx*, but Jor-Radd convinces the world-eater to spare his child, sending him to Earth. Would take some heavy lifting here and there to really make it work, but I think you can tell a good story with that. You have to avoid making the story too depressing as many Silver Surfer stories can be, but by having him grow up on Earth with a family he has the human connections the Silver Surfer usually lacks.

BTW: Happy to see that somebody took note of my Iron Canary mash-up from the last time we did this.

*= don't like Paralaxx, but I can't think of any other big comic DC character except for the Anti-Monitor and Anti-Galactus or anything like just doesn't work at all for me.

Beta Ray Bill is obviously the best answer there

But I would also like to suggest Superman x Loki

He's an "alien" taken in by an occasionally kindly family and raised as their own

Obviously he'd end up being played a bit more antihero than standard Superman, but I think there's something there

You can even have it be a thing that like, consumes planets that become too "evil"

I like the potential of this one, and it's better than the bog standard ThanosxDarkseid combo.

Like, he's searching for the anti-life equation as a way to sate his hunger, and he spreads evil not for malevolence, but because he needs to feed.

But OrionxSurfer works better in this context, I think.

Wasn't considering Darkseid, because I was sparing him for a New Gods mashup with something or other (Eternals, Asgardians or Inhumans also seem to obvious but with else is there...)

Omega Effect can easily send the infant away to another world (Validus comes to mind) so that's a plus for this. So Darkseid definitely works.

I'm playing with the idea of Jor-El tricking the world-eater into sending his child to another planet which somehow involves the child gaining the powers that will let him stand up to the world-eater if they ever meet again (the presence the cosmic powers infuse the child or something like that).

Think you can only get a oneshot out of it, because the Surfer really lacks a supportive cast so amalgamming all those people around Clark in one way or other will be tough.

Anyways, despite everything else, my Superman pitch is still

The Azure Panther - King T'Challa of Wakanda, the only son of the previous King T'Chaka, who is secretly a space alien sent to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton. He was adopted and raised by T'Chaka in order to secure his dynasty. As a teenager he developed powerful abilities due to Earth's yellow sun (and possibly his consumption of the heart shaped herb, a traditional rite of passage for Wakandan rulers to be). He spent some time as a young man on a sort of rumspringa in America, where he attended college under the dubious pseudonym of Clark Kent and fell in love with American student Lois Lane (he even switched his major from politics to journalism just to spend more time with her). When called back to Wakanda by his father's untimely death, he decided that it was time for the isolated nation state to finally open its borders to the rest of the world.

Supporting cast includes Ulysses Luthor, a ruthless American capitalist who wants to take advantage of Wakanda's vast mineral wealth; his adoptive sister Shuri, who emulates his abilities using advanced Wakandan technology; the Metal Killmonger, an old rival of T'Challa's who has been transferred into a kryptonite powered robot body; and his UN liaison, Everett Olsen.

Btw i really need to read these stories ASAP. i dont even need artwork just get me some text to follow - does Linchpin destory himself or does The Chosen destroy him instead?! who knows!

Idea that I left out because I think it could get a little bit too Ancient Aliens - merging together vibranium and kryptonite. Wakanda's vast wealth and technology is built upon a strange meteoric metal that once composed the planet Krypton. I think you need to do some time dilation or like, a cryogenically frozen baby Kal-El for this to work, but I also think it could provide some cool material if you can thread the needle.

Oh and also it's Azure Panther as a reference to the medieval panther as a heraldic beast - presumably their coat of arms is an azure panther rampant on a field of gold or something like that.

Oh I like these. This is a fun twist on the game.

Doom + Superman, last son of Latveria

Dammit, I was just writing that! Well not quite.

Kal-El of Krypton lands not in America, but in the small eastern Europeon land of Latveria where he is adopted by a displaced Romani family and is given the name Victor. Attending college, he befriends Rex Luthor, an egotistical but brilliant physicist, and reveals his alien nature to Rex. Rex speculations he may have incredible power lying within his alien DNA, but an experimental probe triggers a monstrous metamorphosis and Victor eventually decides to encase himself in a suit of armor to hide his condition from the world. He then proceeds to use his newfound power to liberate Latveria from its cruel overlords and establish a benevolent dictatorship from where he can ensure his countrymen's needs and wants are seen to in totality and he eventually turns his eye to the rest of the suffering world as Dr. Destiny.

Meanwhile, using the data gathered from the experiment, Rex founds an aerospace company. Desiring to find Kal-El's world and possibly a cure to his condition, he assembles a team of the best and brightest to man the mission. Things go awry and the entire troupe is exposed to cosmic rays, warping them into strange an monstrous forms. Driven insane by what happens, Rex blames everything on Victor and establishes a new syndicate with his friends to get his revenge. I'm thinking maybe:

Rex Luthor - Reed Richard/Lex Luthor obviously
    Armageddon - The Thing/Doomsday
The Electric Woman - Livewire/Invisible Woman
The Human Parasite - Human Torch/Parasite
