I'm gonna throw out a wild idea here, each lantern corp: represents a different pantheon of mythological gods

Simple change, but how about hero + villain?

Superman + Magneto = The Chosen
Believes he is the second Jewish messiah who will usher in the seventh eon of peace, no matter what it takes!

Captain America + Lex Luther = Manifest
Government sanctioned super-intelligent super-soldier turned politician, who has one chance to do good... but will he?

    Batman + Kingpin = Linchpin
Billionaire arms dealer with an off the books paramilitary organisation code-named “Utility Belt” will take New Gotham City for his own, without question, but will he destroy himself in the process?

    Miles Morales + Loki = Mischief-Man
A lowkey street-smart hero who uses gadgets and tricks to defeat his foes, coupled with the power granted to him by a radioactive fire!

Btw i really need to read these stories ASAP. i dont even need artwork just get me some text to follow - does Linchpin destory himself or does The Chosen destroy him instead?! who knows!

I don’t have a lot of time to draw right now but here, have a Linchpin.

Oh I like these. This is a fun twist on the game.

Doom + Superman, last son of Latveria

Dammit, I was just writing that! Well not quite.

Kal-El of Krypton lands not in America, but in the small eastern Europeon land of Latveria where he is adopted by a displaced Romani family and is given the name Victor. Attending college, he befriends Rex Luthor, an egotistical but brilliant physicist, and reveals his alien nature to Rex. Rex speculations he may have incredible power lying within his alien DNA, but an experimental probe triggers a monstrous metamorphosis and Victor eventually decides to encase himself in a suit of armor to hide his condition from the world. He then proceeds to use his newfound power to liberate Latveria from its cruel overlords and establish a benevolent dictatorship from where he can ensure his countrymen's needs and wants are seen to in totality and he eventually turns his eye to the rest of the suffering world as Dr. Destiny.

Meanwhile, using the data gathered from the experiment, Rex founds an aerospace company. Desiring to find Kal-El's world and possibly a cure to his condition, he assembles a team of the best and brightest to man the mission. Things go awry and the entire troupe is exposed to cosmic rays, warping them into strange an monstrous forms. Driven insane by what happens, Rex blames everything on Victor and establishes a new syndicate with his friends to get his revenge. I'm thinking maybe:

Rex Luthor - Reed Richard/Lex Luthor obviously
    Armageddon - The Thing/Doomsday
The Electric Woman - Livewire/Invisible Woman
The Human Parasite - Human Torch/Parasite

Does Rex Luther have an incurable condition, or is he just going bald at an early age? It’s definitely left ambiguous by the artist...

You've got Red and Yellow switched. Frank Castle isn't trying to influence anybody about their lives - he wants to kill criminals, end of story. Matt Murdock wants you to give up your sinful ways and be a better person and he'll put the fear of the Devil himself in you to get it done

(Daredevil gets offered the Yellow Ring for the same reasons Batman does. Frank and Dex-Starr are Reds for the same reasons)

    Hahaha, Frank Cat-sel

The biggest challenge I had with this kind of mental project is Superman.

Marvel doesn't really have a great fit for the boy wonder.

Spider-Man works for aspects of him (growing up with an older parental unit, working in journalism in a city, the focus on the secret-identity, the overall non-violent philosophy) but their personalities aren't really compatible.

I guess I could see a combination of Superman & Spider-Man where they are the surviving child of an ancient/intergalactic spider race? They quip a lot while fighting aliens & robots?

    I don't know...

    Robin is the boy wonder.

Superman is the big blue Boy Scout.

The Man Without Fear with the Fear Ring is a fun choice, he'd have to go back to his original costume of course

Lets give this another go. Constraint is I want the colours to already be something they're tied to.

Red - Betty Ross-Banner (instead of becoming Red She-Hulk)
Orange - Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley) - he's a CEO billionaire supervillain who already wears orange
Yellow - Daredevil (stealing from Ringo, this is just too good)
Green - Karnak of the Inhumans
Blue - this needs to be a young hero I think. Kamala's probably the best choice, but as an alternative... Nomad (Rikki Barnes)
    Indigo - Rick Jones
    Violet - Hulkling

    bonus:
    White - Faiza Hussain
    Black - Dracula

I'm not familiar enough with the whole Lantern Corps things but:

Willpower - to not go for the obvious A-listers: Hannibal King. Guy was turned into a vampire for 5 years and never drank the blood of a living person (only reason why he survived the Montessi Formula and Dr. Strange could turn him back). He's also the only vampire that could resist Dracula's commands. (Never read his appearances in the 90s, so big chance that they messed it up there, but he was great in the old Tomb of Dracula).

Fear - Dr. Strange, just for the scene with him and Red She-Hulk in Defenders.

Love - I was very annoyed when I saw pictures of the Corps that represents Love and they all seem to be female supermodels (there must be some token character that never made it to the covers), so Eye-Boy, just for his scene with newborn Rockslide in X-Factor recently.

Rest I can't think of anybody not already mentioned or too obvious.

    Oh jeez...
Microtransactions have long been a lucrative market within video games, and sensing an opportunity to spin that idea off into its theme parks, Disney has revealed that guests can purchase a few power-ups for its new Spider-Man ride opening in June. Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure will open up on June 4 inside Avengers Campus at Disney's California Adventure park, with the attraction featuring an interactive ride that allows fans to fire off webs by moving their arms.

That's what the standard version of the experience will offer, but for a few dollars you'll be able to purchase a "WEB Power Band" and WEB Tech that unlock "multi-fire webs." The power band on its own will cost $35, and WEB Tech will be an additional $30, but unlike the digital nature of video game microtransactions, you can at least take these add-ons home and display them. To further entice Marvel fans to spend more cash, the WEB Tech add-on is available in Spider-Man, Ghost Spider, Iron Man, and Rescue variants.

Yeah, that makes sense. Cuz it's not like going to a park was expensive as shit as it was. My only saving grace is that Disney can't use Marvel stuff in its Florida parks, but this is definitely going to give the people at Universal ideas on how to monetize the rides.

  • Options
DJ EebsDJ Eebs Moderator, Administrator admin
I think the real problem is that the webshooters aren't a cool enough piece of merch to want to have outside of the ride. You can buy a wand at Harry Potter land that does special stuff in the parks, but you also have a cool display wand, or a neat toy to play with. You buy this web shooter and you have a weird arm contraption that doesn't even really even shoot webs. You can go buy something like it at Target that does.

I'm gonna guess that these aren't gonna set the world on fire in terms of sales.

    Crippl3Crippl3 oh noRegistered User regular
Nintendo World at Universal Studios Japan also sells expensive arm band thingys, for about the same price I think, in a bunch of varieties for various characters. However, those do things all over the area, not just power-ups for one ride, like letting you into extra attractions, playing special minigames all over the park, etc. so it's a much better value.
