I got a real good laugh out of this. All the times Bill Simmons has shit on The Decision and turns out he's just mad he got left out of it.

Adam Silver: It would take ‘significant spread’ of COVID-19 in bubble to stop play
Silver said players would be tested daily inside the bubble, “at least to start.” That level of testing was always going to be critical to maintaining the bubble the league wants to create.
Adam was quick to admit the Orlando restart was not an ideal situation, but that he did not want to stop play again. At one point he tried to spin the return saying, “We’re coming back because sports matter in our society. They bring people together when they need it the most.”

    This isn’t going to work

20-21 is also probably not going to happen...

Now stories about Nets and Pelicans testing positive. Dang, there are soooo many NBA players testing positive. Just based on statistics, you would really not expect this many. It seems that, despite their much improved quarantine environments compared to most, NBA players really did not do a good job of quarantining. This bubble is going to be a hilarious failure.

DeAndre Jordan said on Twitter he has tested positive and will not take part in any attempts to salvage this season.

Hahah. Honestly, I'm in. I was disappointed that they didn't take the opportunity to do something more creative with this opportunity. If we get a champion crowned out at this, it will come with the biggest asterisk yet anyway.

What a fucking sick highlight reel! Goddam!

In other news, Dame got one of the NBA 2k covers. If they decide to not just make it a grindfest corporate synergy lootbox nightmare hellscape, I might even want to buy it.

Somehow I missed that they would be playing in a conference room at Disney, that broadcast is going to look so weird. I'm assuming there's going to be a big ass curtain hanging in the background. Are any of the games going on simultaneously, really add to the pickup game at the Y atmosphere

The live games will be in an actual gyms/arena (three facilities total). The main arena looks like it can be three courts curtained off, although way things are going who knows if they actually make it to the games...

Looks like that case that Maya Moore was working on was resolved in favor of the plaintiff. She got a wrongfully accused man out of prison who was looking at 50 years. That's amazing.

Positive Covid tests in a day in Florida over the last four weeks. Not totals, but daily number of people testing positive.
    11th of June: 1,698

    18th of June: 3,207

    25th of June: 5,004

    2nd of July: 10,000+

And that’s just people being tested!

Right before the day that people are going to get together and have BBQs.

Oh my god. This is just the hilarious worst. That NBA, so committed to activism and change, have collectively bargained for corporate approved messages on their jerseys.

    Check em out here:

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29405787/source-nba-union-agree-list-social-messages-put-jerseys

My favorite is, undoubtedly "group economics". Now there is a powerful, persuasive message sure to change hearts and minds.

Another good one is "ally", so folks can literally wear their virtue signalling on their sleeves (or wherever these end up).

I also get joy from the idea of someone seeing "love us" without any context of where this came from or what it's about. Just an NBA player running around with "love us" on their jersey.

There are some decent ones too, like "Black Lives Matter", "Say Their Names", and "I Can't Breathe". I'm sure it must have been an oversight, soon amended certainly, that "ACAB" "Fuck 12" and "Abolish the Police" didn't make the cut.

Hot take on Twitter was, "someone should put a support message for Hong Kong on their jersey and dare Adam Silver to punish them".

Today on the radio there was an old dude whose voice I didn’t recognize and he was supposed to be talking about the bubble but he just kept doing some stream of consciousness bullshit that touched on Bob Dylan and the Grateful Dead.

So i began to suspect who it might be even though i never heard that person speak before, but based on stories i had a pretty good idea. I then listened for awhile to see if I was right, and it turns out i was.

Everyone who talks about how terrible
    Bill Walton
    is? They are 1000% right.

    Three things.

As a Blazers fan, How Dare You Sir.

It's funny you didn't recognize the voice. If you had heard Bill Walton before, you would never mistake it.

Bill Walton is def an acquired taste, who i honestly believe knows what people expect of him (60s folk/ rock references, ridiculous hyperbole) and goes out of his way to deliver. I don't think he really believes what he says anymore, he's just giving the people what they want. I think it's fun for someone to exist in that lane.

It's interesting for a bit, but I usually prefer the commentary to be focused on the game that's happening. Dave Pasch sniping at Bill for not paying attention to the game is fun for about five minutes until you realize that it's all part of the shtick and will continue all game long

I agree. I think that Bill Walton's thing is tired. I just appreciate that he is trying something different. In a sense, I feel like he is trying to compose something like an improv homeric epic loosely based upon the game that's happening in front of him. He'll say ridiculous things like "Hassan Whiteside throws back that shot with the authority of Zeus sending lightning bolts to the peasants", or "This reminds me of Maurice Lucas, one of the 5 or 6 most honorable beings who has ever walked this Earth". YMMV on that, but I like that it's kind of experimental.

I also imagine that he has a producer in his ear all the time saying something like "C'mon Bill, you know what we brought you here for, say something about Bob Dylan now". Because I just can't feel like a person really connects so many situations to Grateful Dead songs without knowing that's what people expect of them.

I just appreciate that he takes a different swing at color commentary. I really don't need a hundred more Mark Jackson's coming up with their own inane version of "You have got to want it more" and "hand down, man down". I don't necessarily think B Dub is the best, but if someone wants to try a more creative/artistic approach to commentary, I'm all for it.

Most of the game doesn't really need commentary. Unless there is some deep strategy, or a weird defense. Its like listening to a podcast while watching the game.

Yeah play-by-play is largely unnecessary other than as a way to fill the silence. If you want good play-by-play, just turn on the radio because those people are great at it. Otherwise, if I'm watching on the screen then I'd prefer either meaningful analysis/commentary or nothing at all.
