Anyway I just found it by googling "movie where students terrorize a teacher and his wife"

Class of 1984. I believe that was it. It rings a lot of bells. The whole gang aspect was kind of embedded vaguely in my memory too. I guess Roddy McDowall was in it, huh?

Why was Class Of 1984 released in 1982? Were they banking on school crime getting that much worse over the next two years?

I admire an hour-and-a-half action flick where the first 25 minutes are all exposition and Kurt Russell acting like a surly teen stepson.

To Lee van Cleef, no less.

    well, yeah

but there are always going to be idiots, it's the governments job at a time like this to make dangerous idiocy costly enough that most of the idiots have second thoughts

Our premier had a press conference a week ago where he basically called people idiots in an official capacity and announced that ignoring social distancing directives was now punishable by a $1000 fine/day for individual idiots and $7500/day for idiot companies

Watching an actor do an intimate and/or emotionally difficult scene is so weird. Because they go from small chat with crew to An Emotion in literally seconds. And there are dozens of people around watching.

And then they have to do the scene, like, twenty fucking times.

It's not the way it looks in movies about making movies, where people work for the perfect take and then move on. Because the scene needs coverage for the edit. Different angles, different shots, reactions from other characters in the scene. So they have to do this intimate and/or emotionally difficult thing, over and over and over.

Who would want to do that

It’s the most incredibly late 80s early 90s movie ever. It embodies the vibe so perfectly. Its a perfect amalgam. I love how the entire movie is just generic 80s action/tough guy scenes connected by the absolute thinnest of threads

The movie is completely uninterested in anything that isn’t the cool guys doing cool shit

Krzysztof Penderecki, probably most famous for his atonal compositions used in horror movies like The Shining and The Exorcist, has died at 86.

What a fucking loss. He was such an innovative and brave composer, especially given the circumstances of his early life. And despite falling out of fashion, his later work is often extraordinary.

I’m gonna listen to this and freak out for a bit. I’d recommend it.

"People from New York caused the outbreak in Florida" is the current conservative talking point for why Florida's having an outbreak (despite leaving all beaches and businesses open), so it's probably bullshit.
