Just a quick question, didn't see it in the thread and didn't see anything in the Wii manual but what are the USB ports for in the back? I tried using mine and that didn't work at all.

Thanks.

What are you trying to use them for?

Anything really. Pictures, game saves, etc. just playing with the functionality.

As of right, they're basically only used for either power (usb controller charging docks, stuff like that) or for the usb network adaptor. In the future, we're hoping for mass storage devices, but I don't think anyone's heard anything official about that kind of stuff yet.

We could really use an external hard drive.

There was some kind of patent thing going around for a mass storage device, I think.

There's also a cooling fan out there that uses one of the USB ports.

That's basically just to for drawing power, though. Besides the USB Network Adaptor, I don't think there are any devices that actually communicate with the Wii via USB yet.

There's going to be a USB mic for an upcoming game. High School Musical I believe.

it sucks that the only way to put pictures in the wii is through the SD slot. Can they allow you to use the USB port for this later on? The wii is pretty good for when you want to show a slideshow.

Actually it is also possible to send pictures to a Wii through email.

I'm REALLY hoping hard drive support via USB is coming, as the Wii needs it desperately for the Wii Store to really become viable.
