I am realizing now I should have picked this up on Xbox over PS5 given that RE2 and 3 generally performed better on the Series X. Oh well, I don't think Sony gives you any options to cancel a pre-order.
I should probably get back to and finish my B route run in 2make. I just had a huge panic because I forgot that b run mr x just bull rushes you way earlier in the game and I couldn’t deal with that moment and hid in the closest safe room for a few minutes and then noped out of the game for apparently a year now
There are mods for the RE4 demo (on PC obv). You can remove the bell, so the village encounter never stops, add infinite ammo and a whole bunch of other stuff. You can also put Leon into a maid outfit, if that's your thing
All the RE Engine games seem to be pretty easy to mod characters between each other, so I'm expecting mods to play as Claire/Jill/Ada/Carlos/Dante will show up in short order.
Along with mods to replace all the villagers with zombies or copies of Lady D.

Really? I thought you could call in and request a cancellation through Playstation customer support.
I look forward to all the memes that should come out from the new sarcastic remarks he’ll make in the remake. The bill me later is a good sign they will keep the corniness in… And the amount of time they make you wait for the bingo line is priceless.
Edit: This youtube video goes over the change in Leon from RE2 to RE4, seems pertinent to the comment from earlier.
I don’t remember the story to 4 much. What’s the reason why they send 1 guy in to find the presidents daughter? And not like a dozen secret service guys at least. And maybe some air support.

I believe it’s stated in the beginning, that they don’t know who did it so they are trying to keep it a secret that she got kidnapped so they are sending just one person, one they trust. Since otherwise, if they sent multiple, or an army, not only would it be possible that some of the people in on it could be sent and thus the mission would be compromised, but words would definitely get out that the president’s daughter was abducted and that a group was sent to rescue her. As such, since EVERYTHING in the US is reported on, her captors would know and likely move her or worse. Plus, it isn’t like it was expected that where Leon was being sent was hostile - especially to the degree that it ended up being.
I also got the impression that they didn't even know she'd be in the village, so they were basically just sending one guy to chase down a lead they didn't have any solid info on.
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
So, this mod's nuts. It's completely different from the regular game, not just enemies and items shifted around. I have no idea how they did it, but it's very impressive.
Also insanely hard. I just got to a room that locks you inside with two armored Garradores and one regular one. Plus 2-3 regular cultists and 2-3 more with helmets. Also all you've got is the starting handgun and shotgun. And the shotgun holds less ammo. And can't be upgraded. And there's no grenades. And Leon's max HP is halved.
I wish it was a little more reasonable so I could see more of it, but I'm probably giving up there. Hopefully the modder keeps working on it.
The boys at Digital Foundry did a fairly elaborate technical breakdown on the demo (you know, that thing that is not a final product by design), which I found pretty informative:
A lot of this recalls the last two Resident Evil Remakes:
They're not happy with how the game runs on Playstation 4 (and they assume Xbox One; they didn't test PSFro and Xbox One X). Granted, you either have an option here or you don't.
On the current generation hardware, the situation resembles RE2 and RE3 remakes--as in the previous titles, the Xbox Series X has a small framerate advantage and image quality advantage (a sharper, less dithered picture) over Playstation 5, which in of itself doesn't matter that much, but there's also the issue because of how the two consoles differ in their implementation of variable refresh rate (if you have a TV that does that, like a Samsung LED or high-end LG television), the VRR window is larger for Xbox, especially if you're set to a 120 hz output. The window on PS5 is smaller because of the different implementation on Sony's side, and the framerate also has a small (~5 FPS?) disadvantage, though the game can still reach the 60 FPS limit, unless...
Since Capcom is letting you turn on and off specific graphical features on console, rather than just having graphics profiles as usual, you can give up a certain number of frames per second (5 to 15) for, say, the new hair model or ray traced reflections. Ray tracing I sort of understand (though even the DF boys, who lust over it at every opportunity, acknowledge that it's rather subtle here, especially on Playstation 5, because of the game's art direction), but I really couldn't give a crap about the body and volume of Leon's hair; his basic hair looks fine. Guess I missed the whole "Leon Sex God Kennedy" train.
Though it has shaper image quality and slightly better performance, the Xbox Series's joystick sensitivity settings or possibly deadzones are very low compared to PS5. You can adjust these in the other remakes (or even in the Xbox settings themselves), but to be honest, I didn't notice because I have a bad habit of playing RE2 and RE3 with very low sensitivity for reasons I'm not entirely certain of (both games had much lower precision requirements than your average 60 hz third-person shooter, possibly because of how most of the zombie movement AI works, generally walking on very confined paths in confined spaces). This is an issue on PC as well (there you just need to turn up your mouse sensitivity); unlike image quality and framerate, you'd think this would be a relatively straightforward thing to change, but it's a demo so all this could be looked at potentially.
Snoop Dogg says turn off chromatic aberation-izzle. Especially on PS5; it produces a much softer picture and is on by default.
It does explain my uncertainty about a 120 hz "high framerate" mode on console, which the last two games eventually got.
The big reason they didn’t show any Xbox One footage is because it isn’t available for Xbox One. The only previous gen consoles RE4 REMake is going to be available for are the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
I’m glad they have a video up about the demo. I’ll be checking that out on my lunch.

I stand corrected; it appears they made the same mistake as well (they allude to the Xbox One more than once).
God I hate how games continue to be hamstrung by having to have previous console version versions because of the absolutely shit release of next gen.
And the massive installed userbase.
Seriously, even if there hadn't been the massive supply issues this gen, Capcom would probably still want to release a PS4 version because that's several million more sales.
I wouldn't mind a port later for other stuff, but like it feels like next gen has never started because they are constantly having to make both versions and thus next gen is still limited by map size, loads etc.

I really liked the demo. Took me back to the exact feelings I had when I played the original demo on Gamecube. I’m going to preorder the eff out of this.

Ragnarok IMO suffered a lot from this.
Hope the next game is PS5 only so we don't have endless loading corridors or movable rocks.

If Sony had bothered to ship a reasonable number of PS5s to Japan before this year I'd agree. But Biohazard is still too important a franchise at home to lock all those fans out right now. (Or at least without Sony money-hatting them like with Final Fantasy.)

Ehh... I want to be excited for RE4make, but it kind of feels less like RE2's and more like RE3's. RE2's felt fresh, like a ton of new things were added, it was almost a brand new game.
3 felt like nothing changed much from the original, only prettier, and 4 seems to be even more slavishly faithful to the original.
Which is great and all, why fix perfection, but... I feel like I'd be happy just replaying the original(and/or its gorgeous HD fan remake).

I mean, I've only played it for a few minutes, but "slavish" feels like the exact wrong word. We know the story is different in parts, the mechanics in the game are definitely different (knife and movement is completely new), and the maps have been redone.
3 changed a lot of stuff, including removal of the multiple choice paths, each of the boss fights, individual character beats, and a ton of locations (both removed and redone). True to the original, it was booted out the door to make some kind of deadline, and it suffered as a result.

Yes, that's point four (part one, technically).
I tried out the demo on both the Series X and the PS5. As Digital Foundry said, the Xbox is noticeable sharper and while I don’t think the controls are terrible per se, the game feels better on the PS5 due to a combination of better controller tuning and haptics.

RE2 remake Claire is the best, but RE2 remake Leon is a pissboy. This has been established
So basically same as the original.
Possible, I haven't played that in ages

He's corny Cthulu, basically.
Hey, they sent Mike!
But the truth is that one Leon is worth a hundred Secret Service Agents.

So quite a dilemma for folks with both consoles.
