I love plants and plant related things, and traditionally my main room has been fruit themed, so if anybody has furniture related to either of those things I would be thrilled if I could add it to my catalog at some point.

I have 2 plants I don't see in your picture. One of them is a DIY so I'm not sure if they catalog but I'll happily make some for you. Meet up tomorrow?

Also - can I catalog your plants?

For those who've found their way to the tarantula island, did you go during usual spider hours, or was it any time of day? My understanding was they came out at night usually.

This is my first Animal Crossing game, and while it's real chill and I'm enjoying it, it is super hard to break myself of a life of "must finish this game now" and realize that this isn't that kind of game and at some point I just have to....stop and turn it off. It feels wrong.

Infinite tarantulas is ~ 150k if you fill your inventory with them though. My wife got one and I was pretty jealous.

So we tried a complete restart and not having both players play at once from the beginning has corrected a lot of my issues. Our original island was just utterly fucked in every way. Completely restarting and messing with clock so we could catch up has fixed everything. Things that didn’t turn up at all for me are now available.

Looks like us always playing in coop confused the absolute shit out of the game

The work : payoff ratio there feels low to me. It's a solid chunk of change (although once you start adding rooms it's still only a partial payment) but catching ~30 tarantulas is a job I will pass on every time unless there was some hazmat suit you could wear so they couldn't attack you.

So once I upgrade my axe, is there a way to NOT chop trees, other than only hitting them twice?

There are two axes, stone and metal. The stone axe will never cut trees down.

For both, you have to craft a flimsy axe first

I keeping running into things I’m not supposed to do.

Like, ok great! I get to build a bridge! It’s right there in my crafting menu, and I almost have enough for TWO of them! And I want that because the river splits the island three ways.

So I grind for more wood to make logs, using flimsy axes to maximize the wood output without chopping down my beautiful trees.

Several flimsy axes later I learn I can only build ONE bridge, and then it’s gone from my crafting menu, AND I’ll need to wait a day for it to exist. So I did a ton of work that I’m sure I’ll use for other things, but it’s weird the game teaches the crafting menu a certain way, and then this happens against the way everything has been done so far.

Just to add to your list, use stone axes instead. More cost effective since they last much longer than flimsy axes. There's no risk of chopping down your trees with a stone axe, only the axe...axe....can do that.

    1. I had no idea that's what the stone axes were for!!!

    2. @Linespider5 you think that's bad, wait 'till you see the process for your second bridge. Sam Porter would be aghast.

Finally found a bamboo island last night. Got enough starters to make my own little bamboo forest and the perfect spot too.

Does anyone have any apples? That's the last fruit that I'm missing. I have a couple of peaches, pear, and coconuts or trade.

I live in constant fear of a shovel breaking mid-bell-rock-hit.

I don't know if it works that way. Like maybe it only loses durability on every dig, and not hits. But still.

I had my shovel break mid-rock hitting on a mystery island today. Fortunately it wasn't my town's bell rock, but it is a thing :(

I've just been making a new shovel at the start of each day and selling the old one. It's only one iron and gives me peace of mind.

They need to have some sort of durability stat on the item that you can view. It doesn't have to be perfect but at least show us that it's got some life in it.

But... There’s a workbench like, right there. You can just make a new anything ON the island.

I guess next time I open my gates I should put bamboo shoots out for grabs.

The bamboo does seem a little less invasive this time. I’ve had 4 planted for a couple days and no shoots have spawned yet.

I haven't figured out the tree growing restrictions yet. I planted some palm trees on my beach - five grew but like a large portion of the others are still sprouts and not growing.

Will have to figure that out at some point I think if I want to pay off the extension to my house, and if I want to move things around on the island.

I don't carry any materials on me if I can help it. I could carry my iron everywhere I guess, but I don't care to. I leave all my wood, rocks, and metal at home so I can bring more back. Tbh the only tools I really need doubles of are Axes and Shovels, I don't fish on the islands much and only go for rare bugs, so I just need stuff for harvesting ore and bamboo shoots.
