Not sure I can take those odds, when doing 10K at a time is a guarantee
But the expected value! (-69k * 0.5) + (198k * 0.5) = 64.5k profit vs 20k profit (20k * 1.0)
(assuming actual 50/50 odds)
You're underestimating how bad at math I am
You just typed hieroglyphics for all intents and purposes. That being said, my newest home loan was 500k bells. It's just hard to stomach dropping in 1/5th of my loan on a gamble. I'm just not that brave.
If the odds are actually 50/50, then on average you'll make 64.5k bells per money tree if you bury 99k vs making 20k per tree if you bury 10k.
But it might feel very not nice to lose 69k bells a bunch of times, which the maths don't account for.
Yes that one. It's also depends on how it's presented. Since the trees take time to grow, it can take half a week to find out i lost money. That sucks, tbh I wouldn't do it for the same reason I don't buy Turnips when they're over 100. I play it too safe, just because I can't handle the low of getting burned. But if it was like, a slot machine? I might end up going broke because of my addictive personality traits, lol. I'm imagining a UFO catcher or gacha minigame with rare, resellable prizes. Or just bring back Redd.
Did they ever confirm whether you can move your house eventually? I want a mountaintop estate from which I can look down on the peons below.
You can move everything
Yes, you definitely can - but I've heard you can never move Nook's town square. It's there permabelly, apparently.
As for moving your house, you can do that once you unlock the ability to build bridges (as in more than just the one Nook has you build as a task) - but it's gonna' cost you a cool 30K.

I know it's silly to be thinking about the next Animal Crossing game but I hope they bring back trains next time. There's a certain wonder to old fashioned steam locomotives. The sea plane makes sense for this game but it just doesn't have the same charm to it. They'll probably come up with another mode of transportation - but eventually they're going to run out of options, right?
I set up a sweet little cafe near my house. It's lovely but the villagers only enjoy milling about.
And the beginnings of a Zen garden!
It's in the northeast of the island, across an unbridged river and up a slope I haven't paid off yet. I'm gonna' move my house next to the waterfall just to the west, so the garden'll be just out the door and 20 yards to the east.
Chance on

Just bury 30k and never see a loss ever.
If the trees are 10k you make all your money back. If not you get 90k. This also helps if the odds aren't actually 50/50, it doesn't really matter since at least you will never see a loss.
EDIT: This is based on the idea that the 50/50 odds are still anecdotal...30k would be a safe way to test that.

I reset the time back on a fresh save and we redid anything purely one player at a time. We no longer play together at the same time while the game does anything important (like donating to book or building museum the first time).
This has fixed an enormous amount of my problems with being unable to do a lot of things.
I haven't figured out the tree growing restrictions yet. I planted some palm trees on my beach - five grew but like a large portion of the others are still sprouts and not growing.
Will have to figure that out at some point I think if I want to pay off the extension to my house, and if I want to move things around on the island.
Is it not just having the full 8 squares around them clear? No trees I've planted have failed to grow and I've not worried about more than that. Could it just be odd shaped coast tiles making you think you have free space around when you don't? You could test by trying to dig all 8 tiles.
By the way, the way bamboo works: it's no longer as invasive. When a sprout grows fully, it generates buried sprouts around it, but only once. After that the bamboo tree is done and just stays as it is looking pretty.

Hm. That's a little annoying. I just used all five of my sprouts to make a lamp.

I've read that besides not being able to move Resident Services you also can't edit the river mouths leading into the ocean. Other than that you have free reign.
Once the turnip earnings start coming in and I'm sitting on millions of bells I'll be moving buildings around like leaves in a tornado.

I've been fishing for trash all day. I've found so many tires, some boots, a couple of rocks, but not a single damn can. I've got a DYI to use that needs peices of each trash.

The HD rumble in this game is really well done. Sea bass and football fish have really similar shadows but I'm able to tell which fish I'm about to catch based on how they feel struggling against the fishing rod.
A slight spoiler thing on fish and bugs that might be useful for people to know:
There is a Fish Guy and a Bug Guy who visit your town. They have special event type things for fish and bugs, but they also each will craft model fish and bugs for you, for the price of 3 identical fish/bugs. So if you want a model coelacanth, maybe don't sell your extras!

Sporky you're a gold mine. Here's two Qs:
What's all this then, about rain and fishing? You get better fish when it rains, is that the deal?
What's all this about wishin' on stars, then? So I look up, press A when I see a shooting star... is what happens next obvious?

Fish and bugs have particular seasons/times when available. There is 1 particular fish that is only available when it's raining.
The coelacanth
For shooting stars when you wish upon a star it makes no difference who you are because
star fragments show up on the beach the next day.

So is there a DB of AC friend codes somewhere like we used to have back in the day? My wife's island is sorely lacking in fruit variety :P

I just ate the coconuts.
However you don't want to transport the trees as they will not generate any more sprouts. They're just for looks/bamboo bits at that point.
