Fun thing about this cabin is my father did the electric work himself in the seventies. So to turn on some lights you have to turn others off. And certain switches have to be done in certain orders. So I basically do live in a Myst puzzle.

I solved this with putting tape over switches when I got things where I wanted.

I'm not sure your life is real. Are you trapped in a video game, or a Truman show type situation? Blink three times if you need help.

Ohio just announced one of those stay at home orders. I've still got to work, though. I'm sad because I really wanted to lay around in my pajamas for two weeks.

so every other day I've been doing a set of Call of Duty Gun Game and FFA Deathmatch rounds, and then making myself do at least one perfect push-up for every death. Only after I can't do any more pushups without my triceps screaming at me do I let myself start playing Warzone

I have done. So. Many. Pushups. in the last week, and also gotten way better at CoD, but mostly better at pushups

Welp, if you end up spending a bunch of time out there it's the perfect opportunity to bring that wiring up to code?

Altering the wiring might disrupt the conductive glyphs that imprison the wild fae spirit which powers the cabin. I'm not sure Gus could mess with it safely.

I'm on a New Employee Orientation and for the first time I'm really grateful for mandatory work from home so I can turn off the camera, take off the headphones and do something useful while keeping half an eye on the screen. Trying to keep awake and fake-interested through this in a non-virtual space might have killed me.

As an expert on electricity and the wires that it loves I definitely highly recommend you start fooling around with the wiring of your prepper cache cowboy cabin

I listen to a ton of podcasts...during my commute. Which I'm not doing now.

I'm guessing I'm gonna have quite the backlog whenever I have to start driving to work again.

One of my friends is taking 20-minute walks/scooter rides around the neighborhood in the mornings while listening to her usual commuting podcasts, to try and get into the right rhythm for the day.

Today is my first day of quarantine in which my partner is also quarantined, and it is a very different experience so far.

It's definitely making me feel like... more self-conscious about how I get my work done (and currently, how little work I actually have to do).

My wife and I did the most important prepping of all. We took a few of bags of limes, juiced them and froze the juice into handy 1 ounce ice cubes so we won't be out of lime juice for gin and tonics. We just pop one in the glass, add the gin and tonic water and a little more plain ice and we're off to the races.

    Took a solid five minutes.

I went for a little mile run or so through downtown because I haven't been outside in what felt like 87 years.

It was kind of cold and grey and rainy but it felt super nice to just run. Made me wish I was better at it. My conditioning is great but my knees no likey.

I also had to pick a spot to turn around because I have a bad habit of just... not stopping whenever I go for walks or runs. Last time I went for a walk to clear my head I ended up going like almost 4 miles before I realized how far I had gone. Ended up being almost 8 miles round trip. I think I subconsciously want to pull a Forest Gump.

My wife works in the Central HR department of a large university. One of the largest in Canada.

Her office has about 100 people in it usually. As of today, all of those people are working from home except her, her direct supervisor, and the Vice President of the University who runs HR.

She and her boss have been trying desperately to explain to the VP that they can do all of their work from home (their entire computer system can be remotely accessed via VPN) except a handful of things, and it would be best if one of them came in once a week to check mail, receive deliveries etc. The VP, for who knows what reason, insists that she herself needs to be in the office, and she needs the help of the other two.

I'm getting seriously peeved about it. The VP doesn't want the hassle of hooking up her home computer or taking meetings online and because of that she's insisting on putting my wife and me and our 2 year old at much higher risk.

VisionofClarity had a similar hassle working in the HR department for a big, local uni/hospital until finally the decision was taken out of the administration's hands and everyone was ordered to go home and take whatever they needed home to do the work. Now we're sharing a desk and dual monitors in the spare room.

That could work for me if... I'm not sure how to explain it. Generally speaking, I need an auditory and a visual stimulus at the same time. Right now, for instance, I'm looking at this, and I have The Mandalorian going. Music also works. Podcasts, with their...progressive conversation? are tougher to follow. I can't switch my focus back and forth and have it make sense. TV, and movies, I can jump in partway through a scene and be able to tell what's going on. Podcasts, I think, require too much paying attention to what is being said so that the ongoing talk/scene/what have you makes sense.

Disassociating with my mind? Especially while I'm driving, that's a good way for something bad to happen.

My sourdough starter didn't pass the float test twice over the last two days, but then I realized the local flour mill I bought some rye flour a few months back sold starter! So I'm gonna wait for that to get delivered on Friday, which I'll be way more confident in

I also started doing podcasts and Gunpla which is nice, and two days ago I did a Muay Thai workout from one of my old schools and I am still in a lot of pain from punching, so my workout schedule is gonna be a little off

I've been replaying the Mass Effect series. Turns out those games are still really good. ME2 might have my favorite structure of any game I've ever played.
