IIRC, you have to play through Overtime mode in order to get Saint while getting the A ending. (If you rescue EVERYONE in the mall, you'll wind up with only 49 saved after the 3-day mark (Due to certain people dying, and due to certain people getting left behind.)

Spoilers for those you haven't beat the game
Basically, until you beat Overtime, Frank and Isabelle don't count for the total, so it's only a max of 49 after everyone who dies in the story dies. After beating Overtime, Frank and Isabella count as two and that makes 51. Technically you can miss one person and still get the achievemtn during that. If you're not going for an A ending, you can rescue up to 53 out of the 54 possible. (In order to rescue one person, you have to sacrafice another. Actually that's two for one.. But yeah.)

While you're at it, try to get Transmissionary too. (Just make sure to not head up to the roof for case files until Otis bugs you about them. You don't get those transmissions on the roof and they DO count towards the achievement.)

I'm thinking of letting the fat guy die. The one in the sandwich shop.

don't run from carlito. Go down into the underground with fully booked saws or even two katanas, assloads of nectars, and kick his ass. With him out of the way you will be able to easily find all the bombs. Systematically is the key.
key as in don't forget the key...in the main underground storage area
Don't forget, you have to be able to get out of the basement before the time is up.

    Good luck.

Thanks. I gotta find the book for saws. How do I get two saws? I cannot remember.

There are 2 right after the fight. Later on however I think its just the one. If you have all 3 books you dont really have to worry about 1 breaking for quite a long time so pick up a 2nd whenever you're nearby and its convenient.

I just finished Saint and I didn't get transmissionarry because I had to kill Ronald because his presence, combined with the amount of survivors that were folowing me at the time meant I never got the call from Otis regarding the Cop with her hostages. I can still probably get transmissionarry in my next run where I try to get all the PP stickers and get the Frank the Pimp achivement if it is possible to get those two in one go (apparentley, according to gamefaqs you have to kill some survivors to get the FTP award).

    Regarding Kent
This saint run (53 survivors, only Ronald and Barnaby died) was the first time I ever saw Kent's true colours, he is probably one of my favorite psycos now especially after what he does to that guy, and Frank if you fuck up the meeting time on the third day.

actually managed to kill two of the psychopaths on the jeep in leisure park, but only because of an AI glitch and they just stood still while I used the SMG on them.

Still couldn't get all three because of the zombies forced me to move, triggering the AI of the psychopaths and they promptly ran me and my escorts over :(

Decided to give it up and just level up some more. Not as fun, grinding like an MMO, but I guess it will help out later.

    also, Spoiler kent

Aye, ALL of the calls. This means you have to

-Not be in the area a call takes you to at the time of the call (I.E. You get a call about the fat guy at around 11am.. He's in paradise plaza. If you're in paradise plaza at the time, you won't get the call until you leave.
-There's not already too many people spawned. People spawn when you get their call added to your list of scoops. I think you can have a max of 8 people, so if you have 6 people spawned, and the next scoop would have 3 people, you won't get that call until those people are either dead or rescued.
-Not be on the roof, the helipad or in the security room.

Also, you have to get all the storyline related calls (You get them 1/2 hour before the Case File expires) AND all the mutiny/request calls. This means you absolutly HAVE to rescue all the people who would either mutiny or make a request (IIRC, Fat guy and the black guy with the shotgun mutiny, and the firebug, the old guy, the one chick who got bitten, and the hot girl from the movie theatre closet make requests.) Also, there won't be any muntinies if there aren't enough people in the same room as the mutineer. (So you can't just rescue those two; you have to make sure they got people in the room with them. I'm not sure how many you need though, which is why I just waited until I did Saint so I'd know I would have a full house.

So I picked this up on Saturday along with The Darkness and Fight Night Round 3, and I spent most of my weekend gaming with DR. Pretty awesome!

    So far...
    * Managed to get the couple on the roof back to the security room.

    * Found that prick Kent--he's an annoying douche. Are you supposed to escort him back to security, or just grab some PP taking photos of him? He just runs around and berates my photography skills but doesn't respond to escort commands.

    * Found the Mega Man gear in the movie theater--love the gun!

    * Made my way across the outside area in the center. Lawn mower!

    * Made my way into the food court and started the battle with Carlito but ended up running out of pistol ammo and it was dinner time anyway, so I stopped the game there.

    * WTF is up with the zombie's glowing red eyes cutscene at dusk? Don't spoil it for me, but that shit doesn't look good. At all.

I got up to level 3 by the time I finished playing last night. I'm starting over from the beginning on my next session and I'm going to try and trim as much time off of the above stuff as I can--I ended up wasting at least a couple of in-game hours just figuring out the layout of the first plaza and getting used to the control scheme.

    * You're supposed to take pictures of Kent doing certain things. One is a pose he does after he takes a picture. There's one or two others. If you do it right, he'll eventually ask you to bring him a 500+ PP Erotica photo. If you do this, later in the game he becomes a psychopath. He'll never be escorted. I think you can rescue a survivor from him, but I'm not sure, as I've never actually done him. I usually ignore him or kill him outright.

    * By completing certain achievements, you can get the entire Mega Man costume, except the helmet, you still have to get that from the theater. I just finished the Genocider achievement and got the real Mega Buster gun.

    * If you talk to Brad during the battle, he'll give you another gun or two.

Also, there's really no explanation given in game for the glowing red eyes. You may or may not notice what it means though (I didn't until somebody told me). Spoilered for you, by your request, just in case:
At night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM I think) Zombies are faster, more aggressive, hit harder, smarter, and tougher/harder to kill. Think of it as a witching hour or something.

[edit]Also, I'll echo what others have already said. This game was designed to be replayed multiple times. Don't worry too much about the story the first time through. The first time I did it, I did the first couple cases and stopped. If you follow Brad to the Entry Plaza, let him open the gate, and then turn back around and don't cue the next cut scene, you don't have to worry about the story at all for the rest of the 3 days, and can just explore the mall at your leisure, gaining levels. The game is far too frustrating to try and complete the story right off the bat.

Second time through I did the story and got the "A" ending. Third time through, I did some hocus pocus to prevent the story from triggering at all, and collected a handful of achievements (mainly Genocider).[/edit]

I got back into the game this weekend after letting it idle for a while -- I'm at Level 14 and I feel like it's way too early for me to tackle the main cases. I've triggered everything so far (I think I'm at Case 4?), but I think I missed my change to trigger the maintenance tunnels, and I've been avoiding the park so as to dodge the convicts.

Although the game gave me a scare last night -- I had just saved
the chick in the wodden box from the psychopaths outside the movie theater

But as I was running back to the Security Room, I got a "cannot read disc" error at the loading screen and it booted me back to the dashboard.

I think that's close to where I did my second play through. 14 or 17 or something like that. You should be able to do it.

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about with the maintenance tunnels trigger. They're always there, you just have to find the key.

The convicts aren't terrible. They can be avoided most of the time but...
I think it's completely stupid that they respawn at midnight, every day.

    The maintenance key:
The key is actually down in a room in the tunnels themselves. The only way to get into them is to enter through the park. Next spoiler tells you exactly where to go:
Specifically, it's in the warehouse. There's a dead-end area right in the middle of the tunnels on the map. (From memory (so I may be wrong) as you enter from the park (where the convertible is) you turn right, left, then right again). You go through a door and find yourself in a warehouse area. The key is in the back-right portion of the room (with your back to the door). There's also a sub-machine gun in there.

    The pharmacy key:
You'll "find" it when you go to Seon's to go to the pharmacy to get medicine for Brad.

    The empty store key:
You'll "find" it in Crislip's store in North Plaza.

    The Movie Theater Warehouse Key:
You'll "find" it if you do they "Strange Group" scoop.

You can download a bunch of keys to the lockers in the security room off xbox live. They unlock a bunch of different outfits for Frank.

That's all the keys I know about. Though Otis is a janitor, why hasn't he got a maintenance key?

Like, 28 Days Later Rage Zombie fast? D:

I got the way the save system is set up once I started playing, and so far, I really like it. I don't feel totally pressured to do everything the game has to offer on my first run, and the save/restart system is a great counterbalance to the hectic pace of the game. I rarely play through games a second time, but DR has been set up as a sandbox where you can pick what challenges/missions you want to tackle and you're able to save your level and start the entire game over and redo stuff or try out missions you didn't get around to doing on your previous run. That's a cool way to design a game.

Like, 28 Days Later Rage Zombie fast? D:
No. Some of them just shamble a bit faster. I think the increased toughness is the worst part about night, IMO.

Essentially this. You'll always be able to outrun a zombie, not matter what time of day, but at night, some of them are a little bit faster than they are during the day. More of them will charge toward you, rather than lazily ambling toward you. Also, they can lunge a bit further and a bit faster. Incidentally, I noticed that it's mostly the young women zombies that are the worst about this. They'll get you pretty good if you're not careful.

Is it just me or do the female zombies tend to... erm... bite my crotch a lot? I thought it was just luck that the female zombies ended up biting me in that fashion, but it seems to happen only with them. Zombie head is not something I really appreciate... ow!

It's exclusively a young woman zombie attack from a just a couple of the young woman models.

They will get you in other places once in a while, but they do love the crotch attack.

My pet theory is that the two or three or so models guilty of this are modeled after somebody's ex, and the guy responsible was quite bitter about the breakup.

Did anyone see the survivor death (ironic choice of words there) where he gets his crotch eaten by a female zombie? O_o

Not only that, but I took pictures of it!

Yeah, if you hold the left trigger, you can take pictures of those deaths. I only discovered this recently.

What I did was play through the game, and anytime I got stuck I just started over. I "beat" the game at something like level 30. In the mid twenties there was little difference between day zombies and night zombies, they both died about the same.

Quick question: can you save the survivors at the very beginning? I'm talking about the entrance when the dog runs out the door and into the pack of zombies and her owners opens the door. Is there a way to save those people? It seemed like pretty static, like, Frank goes here, triggers cut scene, a wave of zombies floods the entrance, everybody dies, Frank wakes up in the security room.

    No, you can't save them.

Now the big question is: Does that shot count as action or erotica?

You only get erotica points from scantily clad zombies or live women, and since the zombie doing the crotch biting is wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt, it sadly counts as action.
