It would be Maester Kristmas because you're supposed to discard your family name upon becoming a maester.

There's been a number run over the years. They're definitely less plentiful than phalla. Generally, less information asymmetry, more roleplay. Usually more direct intervention from a GM-sort, as well.

Also, is it assumed that all armies are amphibious? I didn't see anything about water blocking movement.
That is correct. It’s assumed you have access to the necessary ships to travel via the sea if your crossing between territories connected by water.

Usually they use some sort of fantastic setting. For example, there was a global pandemic one a number of years back. It's actually a really fun read.
