Why does my music skip and cut when i have my phone in my pocket?

I have an iPhone 8 and a bluetooth headset. When i put my phone in my pants pockets, sometimes the music starts cutting abruptly repeatedly. As soon as i remove my phone from my pocket, it seems to solve the issue.

I'm confused because it doesn't do it all the time and i can't figure out the pattern to it. Sometimes it starts cutting seconds after putting my phone in my pocket, other times i can walk around for an hour with next to no issue.

This happens regardless of charge level for both the phone and headset.

I'm at my wits' end.... Anyone got insight on what could cause that?

I don't have an iPhone but a pretty modern phone as well, and my phone has weird odd behavior when in the pocket as well - I think these touch screens are just stupid sensitive. I'm going to try one of those clamshell type covers to see if that stops it.

If you point your screen away from your leg does it stop?

Also check in settings. Sometimes there's a shake to X setting that you can turn off.

Is it a decent quality headset? Maybe there is some signal loss across your body.

Skipping and cutting are common symptoms of poor signal reception by the headset. I had this problem all the time with my BT hearing protectors that I mowed the lawn with. If my phone was in the wrong pocket I could barely go a minute without skips and cuts. Eventually I settled on having my phone in my right pocket with upside down with the screen facing my leg to get it to work well.

You can try moving your phone around to improve reception. Beyond that, not much you can do, short of getting an entirely new headset.

Crappy or dying earbuds. I've had it happen multiple times. I had to rearrange my pockets so the primary earbud was on the same side as my phone. Eventually giving up and buying something else. Fixed the problem immediately.
