Also a bit of backstory on all the wes and ours. I originally picked up AC for my wife since she was going to have some downtime, but she doesn't play a lot of games. So much of the time, it's me at the controls because she'd rather that, but she likes it enough to play on her own as well.
Although whichever of us is at the controls we're probably both watching/playing together. She definitely enjoys visiting other islands and seeing everything people have set out, and had fun with the fishing tourney visits we had.
We're both terrible with the chat tool. Half the time I type the whole thing out and then hit the cancel button thinking it'll add a space.
Going back and forth between PS4 and Switch is really messing with my default button functions.

Looks like Pascal doesn’t come when you catch a scallop while your gates are open. Think that happened in New Leaf too
As someone who has done exhaustive research* on Pascal in New Leaf, Pascal will not appear if:
1) Your gates are open (rookie mistake)
2) It is a major in-town holiday** (probably won't be able to test this for NH until summer Fireworks start but I suspect this one has changed)
3) The scallop you just collected filled your pockets (because he can't give you his present)
4) You are too close to the southern beach, pier, or the northern boundary rope (because there's nowhere for him to appear; he always appears above you)
I think that was everything.

Gullivarrr is finally here so I'll be sending the day time traveling forward and back so I can get a ton of Pirate stuff. I assume his items can't be purchased from the nook shopping to get duplicates like the normal Gulliver items.

I believe that's how normal Gulliver works, so I assume that's how Gullivarrr would work, too. For individual characters, though. Not for the whole island. So since you're doing it with 2 characters, you'll probably start to get some things from one character that the other character has already received.

I'll trade a few gold nuggets for it, I dont play regularly enough to get any one visitor consistently.

Also I am sure that the pirate clothing is color matched. Everything I've got is blue.
