How do you stall Volskasya without contesting the point?

To be honest, just forget that Sulfuras Smash is an option and commit yourself to Lava Wave. Ragnaros isn't what I'd consider a top-tier character by any stretch of the imagination, but I do think he can be situationally powerful in QM and up to about Platinum in Ranked, where he simply guarantees that your team (who are likely going to be completely uncoordinated, or making terrible gameplay decisions, or both) can't fall behind in Soak. Lava Wave ensures that you'll always be in the game in terms of XP, and later on, it can more-or-less completely negate the loss of a Keep in up to two lanes simultaneously.

You play Ragnaros, in my opinion, to make sure your team gets to 20 on time. You're kind of playing this meta where you know your teammates aren't going to soak, so you just do it for them, remotely with Lava Wave. It's kind of a similar situation with me and Nazeebo -- I have always played him a lot in QM because it is very likely that my entire team is going to be full of mouth-breathing morons, but I can literally just ignore them, soak to 20 and win the game myself.

Rags doesn't have that same power spike at 20, but he gets you there a lot faster.

In my particular game, we hit 10 at 7 minutes, and the match ended at 14 minutes. I don’t think 2 or 3 waves on a 2 lane map would have changed much.

You either rotate at the right time or you let it go. Winning the war doesn't mean you win every battle. Sometimes you gotta grind XP and just take out the core instead of grabbing merc camps.

I understand stall. One can stall Curse or Alterac by pelting the person channeling with any ranged attack. But for Volskasya you have to be physically present in a relatively small space. So.. how?

I assume 4 people can contest the point for a long time before losing it. You just need someone stepping in there every once in a while to stop the timer from completing on overtime. Obviously this works best in coordinated play, but also possible at higher ranks.

And maybe after Naz clears mid, he tosses some frogs on the point. This helps zone and gives the appearance of all 5 heroes being there to fight. If the enemy is an uncoordinated QM comp, then they may not notice Naz has left. Which lets be honest, is 100% the case if Ducks got 175 stacks before the first bot.

Not quite. They're still going to update the game and add in skins/heroes, just at a drastically reduced rate. My best guess would be 1 new hero a year, a handful of skins, and more focus on updating existing heroes (since that requires less new assets).

    Stuff:

Why would you ever take Echo Pedal on ETC? The talent that gives 300% extra damage on your W to stunned Q enemies does the same thing better.

There is never any reason NOT to take Tracer's "Locked and Loaded" talent. Just hammer 'D' whenever you see the reload bar, and you do way more damage than the other 2 reload talents.

Been trying out different Uther a ton:

-Don't see much point to taking anything other than Hammer of Lightbringer lvl 1. Solves your mana issue way better than the other choices. Stun CD reduction more useful than others.

-Almost always take Holy Shock. Maybe Inner Fire only if I'm against Vikings or Samuro.

-Almost always take Divine Storm. Divine Shield is only ever taken if we have a Zul'Jin, or suicidal Butcher.

-No reason to ever not take Benediction. Use it for double stun 90% of the time.

-I don't get why Divine Hurricane is such a popular lvl 20 choice over Divine Protection. The radius increase is meh, and the CD reduction is never much of an issue as long as you're halfway smart about engagements. Meanwhile, Divine Protection gives your whole team 50 armor half the time. How is that even a choice?

You take Echo Pedal because: (a) you don't always want to hit W after you land Q, (b) you pretty much never want to burn both Q and your W just to do something like clear a wave, and (c) it is significantly better for PvE damage in general (minions, mercs, objective mobs, etc.).

For Uther, the reason you see Divine Hurricane is because it's more fun and also because if you're taking Divine Storm then that probably indicates you drafted Uther for CC, in which case Divine Hurricane is more CC so it helps Uther do the thing you picked him for. But mostly because it's more fun.

For that ETC talent, you can just hit E and clear the wave faster without burning either of your CC cooldowns and pump some sustain. You can save the W to snatch the globe or whatever.

I mean, they are a tech company. Not to say that covid would have no impact at all...but yeah. My job is tech and was basically barely fazed. We transitioned to all remote (although I already worked remotely anyways) and it's overall had a fairly negligible (if any) impact based on the CEO's company talks. It can impact individuals for sure, some people can't/don't like working from home. But ultimately, if Blizzard couldn't handle a shift to remote work for at least a period of time, then they're worse off than I thought.

I personally don't think covid has hardly anything to do with the lack of any hero releases. I think it goes back to lack of devs for HOTS and what they're putting their priorities in right now.

COVID has absolutely effected the release schedule of their games and content. It’s why the time from patch 9 to 9.15 was the longest WoW has gone without a major content update.

I think it's also dependent on the size of each team. WoW for example is a very large production due to how many different hands you need to create a MMO-size game. Hearthstone, meanwhile, barely had any visible hiccup on its set releases. Remote work is an effect multiplier on things like co-ordinating between teams.

That's the thing, "press 'D' when the reload bar is in the blue" is easier to pull off than "unload every shot from the clip into the same target", and it does more damage.

I used to think you had to time it precisely right and only hit 'D' when it was in the blue zone, but it doesn't matter how many times you hit it as long as it's in the blue for one of those times. So just hammer the key when the reload bar appears.

You get double the damage bonus for a trivial non-skill thing.

lmao. They can say that all they want, but it's more likely because they built like 48 new subclasses that they needed to balance against 12 Soulbinds, with dozens of Conduit options, and almost 250 Legendaries, across PvE and PvP, while simultaneously stubbornly refusing to listen to the community about how all of that would never work, and it's a huge waste of time and resources, meaning they had to keep burning development time figuring out how not to pull the ripcord on Covenants and do away with Conduit energy and everything else.

    Also fuck Bluzzard.

oh no i like compulsively explaining things
So the current WoW expansion, right, you go into the Shadowlands, the afterlife. There's a variety of individual afterlives, but in order to gain power, what you do is you form a pact with one of the four most powerful factions in the afterlives - vampires, skeletons, angels, or trees. This is choosing a Covenant. As part of a covenant, you gain access to a new, class-specific ability, with each covenant's ability shining in a different scenario - one might be exceptional at burst aoe, while another might be best at sustained damage. You also gain a covenant-specific utility ability.

In addition, each Covenant has three "soulbinds", which can be thought of as talent trees inside the covenant. These provide a few passives specific to that soulbind, as well as a number of slots in which you can put Conduits. Conduits are simple, gem-like modifiers to abilities. Your Chaos Bolt Deals 10% More Damage, etc. Conduits have an item level like gear, and thus you want to rank them up and get the highest level versions of them.

While you are not literally choosing subclasses, these modifiers combine to the point where a Tree Paladin can wind up have very different specialties than a Vampire Paladin. And of course, WoW being what it is, not all of those specialties are always very useful. Vampire Paladins, for example, are basically the only way to play the class without buffs to the other abilities. And the Tree utility ability is a blink + MS buff, so if it's close to your best covenant, giving classes that don't normally have a blink that is very powerful!

Naturally all this can also shift and change from patch to patch.
