I have two mages and a what was a weenie leaguer {I refuse to use the other term for what was the level 19 pvping}
low level pvp is dead so I took my mage out and started to level them
I do have a rogue and priest problem 5 rogues and 4 priests
On things out of the way:
Did also managed to level a Priest on the side:
Chromie time is incredibly convenient, and Warlords has a great leveling experience...and is the fastest. Specially when you can just pick up flying at level 30.
Best part by far is the leveling experience. You get to experience a single storyline, and don't have to jump around. And is entretaining by itself, even if getting janked out at level 50 is a thing. Oh and it is faster and less tedious. I loathe leveling and even I managed to level a couple of characters from zero since prepatch day.
Second is the customization options. Almost everybody got something from it.
Third is the lifting of rep requirements for allied races, even if is still many hours of questing to unlock them.
Prepatch event: Honestly, it felt kinda lame and uninspired, but is functional enough.
Pretty much ready to move on. Also, the War Campaign ending limped at the end.
Decided to make what is effectively a Highborne/Shen'dralar (the Diremaul people who joined the Night Elves to teach them magic during Cataclysm) mage, and having an (arcane) blast with it.
Each mage spec feels powerful and flows differently, but I'm currently quite partial to Arcane; it simply melts entire swaths of enemies in WoD's Shadowlands and northrend's Borean Tundra.
Arcane is great for dungeons and groups. Really hits the ground running with that burst DPS, but for solo play I like Frost.
I haven't really had much use for the fire spec in quite some time, though.
I enjoy exploring the lore of WoW, and I wish there was more of it in-game.
Also I wish they'd let you experience shit you missed. I skipped MoP and most of WoD, and apparently there are entire epic quest chains for both that not only have rewards I can't get, but stories I can't even experience. It took a long time to even find out that Theramore had been blown up when I played through MoP.
They do a bad job of giving a briefing of what happened each expansion. I dipped out of BfA VERY EARLY, and would love to learn what happened in between.
I too learned late that Theramore was exploded. Explains why Jaina went WoW-Mad.

I still feel back in Cata they should have done a mini event for night elf mages showing they were from Dire maul and what lead them to rejoin the night elves
just it being a 1-5 or 10 thing Where they do mundane things like resealing the doors so the ogres cannot bust them down cleaning up and cataloging the books
But show how it goes all south when the adventures kill the price [just show how he has gone mad over the years] and pop the demon battery so they open up a portal to Darn and have you present your services to the night elves
Did my final round of inventory cleanup on my main. Double checked all his flasks, food, gliders, and other consumables. He's 100% ready to go. Camped him in front of Grommash Hold, where they send you to talk to Mograine to start the expansion.
Was farming gear for the Priest to have it around (I leveled the thing, so might as well), swapped to my main and got this:
Starting from zero so not much on the way of consumables except for gliders.
Got my fourth character up to 50 so I can have one in each covenant. I had a Demon Hunter I made and forgotten about pre-squish so they were Level 39, hit 50 in about 4 hours or so.
That means I have a Shaman, Paladin, Demon Hunter, and Priest ready to go. I think I'm going to go with Venthyr, Kyrian, Night Fae, and Necrolord respectively.
I have not been paying attention to the covenant and which is good for what class/spec
I know I have to really work at monday to complete my goal of getting my blood elf rogue to 50
Still I don't know what I will boost either my troll druid or undead hunter
I am ready for the launch tomorrow. But I haven’t done any kind of digging for min/maxing.
I have plenty of characters to choose from everything but a priest and rogue at level 50. Going with enha shaman and hunter for my mains as is my tradition and have a DH ready for tanking when I need a break.
Ended up hooking up with an old guildie to join their levelling group. Only thing missing was a healer which gave me the nudge I needed to finally decide on paladin as my main. I haven't played a WoW expansion 'seriously' since BC, but I had a bunch of leave built up so I've taken the week off for this. As long as the first few days are fun I'll be happy.
I meant like, get your m0s in this week as opposed to Monday night
And while yeah, you gotta do the covenant stories to unlock them, that didn’t really seem to me like something that fell within the domain of ‘min/maxing’
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I got to 51 and hit OroborousTown and did all the cinematics there before the game crashed hard as the West Coast devoured the servers. Oh well, 1/10th done!
Currently slummin' it up in Bastion and this place is wonderful. Everything has that new expansion smell and feel. It's been a while since I've been this excited for a game.
I have Thursday/Friday off and a day of PTO I have to burn this week. I'm stuck trying to decide if I should take off Tuesday or Wednesday. I wonder on which day the servers will be more unplayable. Intuitively you'd think Tuesday, but maybe Wednesday could get more crowded by people starting the long holiday weekend early.
Really one of the few upsides to the switcharo of working extra days this week {i had a three day weekend instead working 6+ days in a row} So I don't have to deal with the rush to level {I got tried of this back in Cata}
But I feel I will just play with my low level alts for a few since it's going to be people harassing for healers again

The only thing I wanted from Night Elf mages is a random elf go just say "DIdn't we have a war about this?".
I hadn't even considered the possibility shaman would be a competitive healer for M+ so the choice paralysis almost got me. But I made it.
I'm going to push through and start with paladin, because realistically I'm going to main hpally when the dust settles unless it's really awful.
I managed to do the all dungeon +15 achievement on my resto shaman, and it seems like the playing field's a little more competative this time around, so you should be fine.

Thus far (54, midway through Bastion), I am the most excited about this expansion that I have been for any expansion in awhile. Not necessarily because of the systems or class design, but because it finally feels like something new. Not old lore we all know, not retreading old ground, a new weird set of zones to explore and a story that I have no idea how it's going to evolve. God that's refreshing.

Although that said the fact that it's all gorgeous Darksiders/Joe Madd style art definitely helps.
Bastion is kind of grating towards the end, and it's very hard not to sympathize with the Forsworn. If I had free agency I'd probably try to burn the place down, too.

Ya as soon as they started talking about the temple of loyalty it was just "oh so forced re-education camps. cool cool"

Yeah I am just about to finish Bastion and I am hoping there is a lot more to it. Cause right now it’s hard not to feel like I’m on the wrong side.

That's what it makes all the "WoW 2: Remaking Azeroth" ideas so grating. Like, why? No really, why? There's an entire cosmology to explore, why stay limited to the same places, the same themes, the same looks?

Also the unfortunate implications of what is clearly a Tauren being forced into a human body - humans with a very specific greco-roman facial features.
Like I have to assume it's all intentional and that there's going to be some commentary on it later because if not, woof.
The Forsworn turn out to, you guessed it, working for The Jailor, aka the responsible for the anima drought, so don't have to feel bad for killing them.
The Bastion leadership kinda goes "well, they had a point" and said that they would think about it.
When Bastion is working properly, people who are like “Actually, fuck this I’m sitting out.” or earnestly try and fail their training are sent back to Oribos for a do-over with the Arbiter. However, with the anima drought it is impossible to send people back so people are just falling into deeper despair instead of going back for reassignment.
Note that this is not mentioned at all in the questing I have done, and may be fan conjecture. Either way it’s a pretty big writing failure on Blizzard to “reward” noble souls by forcing them to be part of the blue man group and forget all of their memories and have seemingly no recourse beyond siding with Warcraft Satan.

See, I heard that the souls that don't want to go through with their training get sent to the Maw, not back to Oribos.

I've been playing WoW on and off for 16 years, and I've only ever really played mage.
I have six mages. I like mage. It's good DPS. Easy DPS. Easy rotations. Good survivablity.
Plus it just kinda fits my personality, I guess. I like to play the "magic caster" class in basically any RPG that has one.

Tyrande is next for the evil madness, isn't she?

I could be missing something, but you'd think that Blizzard would put that additional context in their quests wouldn't you.
