He was attempting to pull legitimately prior to that which is why I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Anyway, just had a quick play match where the other team’s tank quit at the very start and the game refused to backfill it for the rest of the game (2 rounds).

i've seen things like this happen a few times with various roles...it is terrible.
i'm with you on that. i logged in enough to get the new event skin for sym, although i still think her holi skin is the best. i did not like the sigma event thing, i couldn't see half the map. i keep getting placed in with people way better than me and i probably should just uninstall but i like the shootems and i'm not sure what i'd replace it with.
Paladins is still around and last I checked really good
I mean, I'll be the first to say that I still play it on occasion, but 'really good' is pushing it lately. There's been a lot of major bugs accumulating over time that really make you appreciate the technical stability of OW. Somehow, virtually none that can be done consistently or are favorable to you when they happen in any way, so that's a good thing, but having like a 1% of the match failing to shut down properly at the end, forcing you to Alt-F4 and then you get a penalty for leaving? That's been in the game for like two years. Or the sound bug where the match will start and you just... get no sound whatsoever except the ambience noises.
At least it's still releasing characters regularly though. And attempted to universally buff supports recently... in the dumbest fucking way possible.
Where he claims that there never was an issue with harassment in the company, it was just evil outside people trying to sabotage them out of spite. The only thing they did wrong was not attacking the people reporting on the issues forcefully enough.
Kind of want to believe this all had to be planned in advance and isn't some cynical corporate grab at goodwill but who knows.
I mean costumes probably take months of work but they also probably knew about the PvE situation for months...
They were going to do a big pride push because they lost the china license where that's a neddy no-no. They thought this would be some way to get more interest to offset the loss, but the PVE lie really pissed people off and this extra dose of "pride month but not really, no" makes this even more of your typical corporate fake bullshit.
And they aren't even doing anything beyond generic stickers and tags, many of which are just color swaps, so maybe a week max of work, more like 2-3 days. This being modern Blizzard, there's probably some major game breaking bug in swapping out the flags for Midtown that will require the map to be pulled for the season.
I think it's odd to get mad at Blizzard over this when most companies do literally nothing whatsoever for Pride. I can believe that the individual members of the Overwatch team have good intentions here, including the ones who felt that they couldn't launch this in countries with regressive laws.

I think individual members of the team do what they're told by management.
I think management is cynically cashing in on DINK folks with Pride while making sure they suffer none of the backlash for "supporting" Pride in places where it actually needs the support.

Personally, I'm of the mind that multiple truths are capable of existing in this situation and that there isn't an easy fix to "how do we change the perception that the pride stuff these people come up with in sincerity, is just a soulless corporate smokescreen"

It doesn't sound like there's any way for them to run a pride event that you would not consider to be cynical, other than to take a political stand against foreign governments. Ultimately everything a corporation does is profit-motivated, or at least not detrimental to profit. Everything they've ever done for this game has had that underlying motivation. I think we should simply accept that as a given within this framework, and give them credit when they manage to align those motivations with a positive cause.
Obviously Blizzard and Bungie are not the same, but I work at Bungie and I 1,000% without any reservation guarantee you that folks here would love the chance to work on fan-facing content/events that celebrate LGBTQ+ and diversity in general, and I doubt the rank-and-file at Blizzard is any different. They may be "doing what they're told" but in cases like this I promise you they care about it deeply on an individual level and wish desperately that they could bring it to as many countries/markets as possible. It's also likely true that all/most of their management is deeply cynical and sees this as just another opportunity to cash in on the desire of minority and marginalized folks to have any sort of mainstream support or inclusion.
And to be honest, their decision not to release the content in places where they could literally face criminal prosecution is pretty low on the list of things worth criticizing them for (of which there are plenty). That part is just like, common sense.
That just seems like a bug. Season 4 did a full SR (not MMR) reset. They re-anchored everybody's SR to match what the game currently thought their MMR was, and said it would stay anchored moving forward. This happened at the start of the season, before you even played any games.
Maybe there's a bug that set their MMR too high at some point and as a result they lost a lot in S4. But I think this is the first time anybody has ever had hard evidence of an extreme case like this, so it can't be common.
Something there is fucked, or perhaps it only appears to be fucked because the information Blizzard provides to measure its fucked-nes is possibly fucked.

-nerf to JQ commanding shout heal boost, increase to ult charge
-Wifeleaver will have some changes to heal output, smaller hitbox, and healing with lifegrab (they don't address how lifegrab is shit and trolling constantly, only had one person use it the right way this season)
-Widow and Hamzo have damage falloff changes, fall off distance basically stopped 30m sooner, so Widow can one-shot 200hp at 50m or below (feels too extreme but they'll trash her instead of touch tanks and supports), Hamzo can no longer one shot 250HP heroes and will have a more noticeable sonic arrow to avoid teams getting sniped when walking into position
-CC is coming back, they just can't admit it due to their hubris but it is, they're "softening their approach." Mei's primary will have a cumulative long slow effect but not complete freeze, and McCree's magnetic grenade will be a damage/slow/halt
Giving Cass an ability that locks out movement abilities will make him a stronger counter to Ball than Sombra is. OW2 remains a case study in taking what wasn't broke and fixing it straight into the grave.

One shots were mostly fine in 6v6 with two tanks, because they were mostly a punishment for being out of position and not utilizing your tanks as you should. One-shots in 5v5 with only one tank suck.
I feel like having CC coming back is ok especially if tanks still have their CC resistance. Playing a tank well is already stressful enough, we don't need to go back to the OW1 days of being stunlocked constantly.
I really feel like most of the ills of OW2 are caused by going to 5v5 with no actual idea of how to balance 5v5.
I feel like there are a decent number of people working on Overwatch now who are learning the hard way why some characters and mechanics worked the way they did in Overwatch 1.

I'm fully of the opinion they playtest this in-house with five stacks of the same skill and with people in the same room so communication is super easy. That and just jump right over to OWL pros. There is no in-between, which is why things like Ball being broken and Sombra still being strong, especially in solo queue, never seem to register.
(and also in seeing how the shit they do for PC breaks things on console and they just turn a blind eye to it)

They did it once while I was leaving the spawn with them and the other healer (both DPS were at the point). I was ready to throw.
This game does not have the coordination or skill at lower levels for that to be a beneficial ability. If I’m not trying to disengage, leave me be.
but your point still stands, of course

Bunch of free login cosmetics for Pride Thursday, plus a Pride version of Midtown.
They knew 7 months ago they weren't going to be able to deliver it that's a pulse bomb of a dab.
Community: can you fix the game and deliver PVE?
Blizzard: best we can do is make Pharah lesbian and Baptiste bisexual.
As it turns out - right now! 700 gold if not. bought with the bundle for 1,500. Bought it a'la carte.
Yeah about that.

From silver 5 to top 500 with a 20% winrate.

Yeah okay that should work. It shows a player who was moved from Silver 5 in season 3 to a current top 500 this season, by achieving a 20% win rate.
This is why I keep losing games and getting matched against harder and harder enemies.

They played for 4 hours in Season 4. That's, what? 30 games at most if they're all really short stomps?
They won 6 games and ended up in the middle of top 500.
Whoops, the clip shows they actually only won 5 games.
...also they're a Plat 1 Tank and a Diamond 1 DPS with zero games won on either?
Edit: Random google points towards folks saying it's a display glitch caused by crossplay.

Balance the new heroes against what was happening then
I’m not normally one to say “don’t change things” but they changed things in the wrong direction and the game is way less fun
(and also in seeing how the shit they do for PC breaks things on console and they just turn a blind eye to it)
Okay that change pisses me off, I like OW2 Mei, and if it doesn't freeze then Mei is in danger putting herself in M1 range with half DPS.
