I'm all for broccoli stems, but what I'm referring to specifically are the little woody, fibrous chunks that don't even seem like broccoli anymore. Blech. Probably more prevalent in the cheaper bags of frozen veggies and pot pies. It's been awhile since I bought much frozen food though.
No, those are great. When I buy fresh broccoli, I look to make sure I get something with a big ol' stem so I can slice it up and season it and broil it mmm boy yeah that's the good stuff
Hiking Weekend Plan: We're gonna stop at this great little bakery, get some (american) scones and a dense loaf of rye bread, then get some cheese and salad stuff and basically do sandwiches for the next few days, so we can save some money and don't have to plan around meal breaks.
Hiking Weekend Reality: Eggs benedict from a different cafe every morning, a confusing array of restaurant foods every afternoon (the 'mayan fusion' was especially fascinating), and a couple of late night "oh shit we still got this bread, better buy WAY too much cheese and eat it before bed while drinking litres of whisky+red wine" incidents.
Neither money nor my digestive tract was particularly saved, but otoh the food was mostly excellent.
I've had some good corn pizzas in the US, not caked in topping, mostly a nice thin crust cheese pizza with some corn kernels sprinkled on and some lime to squeeze juice on with as you eat it.

Stems are great but the florets are great for getting sauce because of all that surface area.

Sounds like someone's never had a roast sweet potato soup. Or sweet potato, beetroot, feta, and rocket salad. Or kumera chips.
Neither pumpkin or sweet potato should be constrained to just sweet or savoury applications.
My wife makes awesome sweet potato enchiladas. Super tasty and not terrible for you!
