If weenie tokens let you get to 6 mana without winning they deserve to lose
It's not even difficult. It just requires you to stall a bit, which is hilariously easy in current standard, wipe them on turn 3 or 4 so you still have a bit of life, and then this just comes in and re-wipes on turn 6 and gets you hp back.
Star City Games have announced their new Arena-based tournament series. Daily challenges that offer SCG tour points and store credit, championship qualifiers that offer cash and more tour points, and seasonal championships that offers cash and automatic qualification for next-season's qualifiers and championship.
Historic has suspensions since it's digital only and they want to be flexible about cards being "on probation" before totally banning them. They may want Winota to have a chance with containment priest before being totally banned
They changed their verbiage around Historic a while back. Cards that are "suspended" are functionally banned, but philosophically are still under consideration depending on how the meta shakes out. I believe they've said that all cards in Historic will move to suspended before being either returned to the format or banned.
It's basically a way of saying "there's still a possibility this card will come back," rather than a true ban which is meant to be a more permanent "we don't see this ever being able to come back."
Historic is evolving rapidly, both from general play and because it's receiving new cards fairly regularly. To support it properly, we need a way to control the balance that works well with Magic's history of using bans and restrictions while allowing more flexibility to adjust as Historic changes.
Suspending cards gives us that mechanism. For gameplay purposes, a suspension works like a ban, in that the card will not be legal to use in the format while it is suspended. But unlike how we handle banning cards, we plan to use the flexibility that the digital format provides to move cards onto and off of the suspension list more commonly. The "off of" portion there is important. Suspension isn't a final verdict, it's an indication that we think this card may be causing issues, and we'd like to see what the meta looks like without that influence.
Suspension is also a temporary measure. All the cards we're suspending here will be removed from the suspension list by or before the Ranked Historic queue returning in March. Some may be returned to the playable pool (likely because we believe the new environment provides the appropriate answers or countermeasures), and the rest will move to being fully banned.
It's meant to be something of a step before outright banning in Historic, on account of how they're trying to make the format update a bit more dynamically.

Nothing about Massacre Wurm gets hp back.
I read the second sentence opposite way, turns out. Instead of making opponent lose life, I read it as you gaining life per death.
yeah massacre wurm usually ends the game when it does its thing
Although when it doesn't, the fact that the "lose 2 life" trigger is a completely separate thing from the ETB trigger always catches someone by surprise.
You can really ranch people in Commander by casting a Mascara Wurm before combat, swinging in, and then grabbing your pen and saying "and 5 of your creatures died so you lose ten" and they just immediately pick the card up to make sure you're not doing them a swindle.

Angelic Ascension
1W
Instant
Exile target creature or planeswalker. Its controller creates a 4/4 white Angel creature token with flying.
Interesting twist on the Beast Within/White Beast Within formula. The cost and speed are nice, but an Angel is a hefty creature to deal with. I can see this card being good friends with 3feri though. Either kill your opponent's creature/walker and then -3 to bounce the Angel and draw, or lay down a 3feri on turn 5, bounce/draw one of their things, then when they go to kill 3feri you hit it with the Ascension and start beating them with your new Angel.
But bans aren't permanent, anyway. There's no functional difference...right?
Historic doesn't get the same level of attention as every other format. As far as we know the suspensions are only determined by the Arena team with little-to-no-input from any of the people responsible for the B&R list. So keeping the name different helps keep that distinction in language as well as reality.

There is also the more white side of the equation where you basically use it as a god willing on your creature in response to an opponent's spell or after declaring blockers.
Actually what would the rules be for an opponent attacking your planeswalker and you blow it up in response. can you still block that creature with the angel?

Did you blow it up before or after the declare blockers phase? That’s your answer.

Yep
You can still block creatures attacking a planeswalker that left the board. This actually comes up in standard right now with things like Cavalcade of Calamity and Scorch Spitter

Pursued Whale
5UU
Creature - Whale
When Pursued Whale enters the battlefield, each opponent creates a 1/1 red pirate creature token with "this creature cannot block" and "creatures you control must attack each combat if able."
Spells your opponents cast that target Pursued Whale cost 3 more to cast.
Archdemon's Vessel
B
Creature - Human Cleric
Lifelink
When Archdemon's Vessel enters the battlefield, if it entered from your graveyard or was cast from your graveyard, exile it. If you do, create a 5/5 black demon creature token with flying.
I really like the Vessel design; an early drop that can block or be sacrificed that also works as a reanimation target? And for conditional reanimation like Call of the Death-Dweller or Unearth? Pretty sweet.
The whale is a fun Moby Dick design but probably not very good.

it wouldn't be a coreset with a funny but bad giant sea creature
it's a good moby dick though
But it’s blue
Moby Dick was famously white
I feel like there was a major flavor fail in not making it a white card. I know that this is blues area of the pie/sets, but make a bend for flavor in this instance.
