But the PS2 was way better than the Dreamcast.

Oh, speaking of SAO type stuff, I rediscovered a manga I was reading. It's basically a cross between SAO and Bofuri in that the story's about a guy who spends all his time playing this single player MMO-style game that was developed by a team of devs who simultaneously could not give a shit about proper coding practices and also had a hate boner towards their own playerbase. We're talking devs who implemented the ability to propose marriage to anyone or anything in the game, provided the player followed the necessary steps to trigger the event, but then made a successful proposal trigger a fail state in the game so it couldn't be completed and the player had to start a new file because they purposely made the game overwrite the save on the proposal .
He ends up getting sucked into the world of the game because of his friend's dumbass wish and the entire story is about him trying to complete the game with his extensive knowledge while avoiding or exploiting every glitch, trick, and bug he's ever known while doing his absolute best to avoid dying from increasingly bullshit mechanics.
It's called Kono Sekai ga Game
Now that I'm home here's some pages from it to get an idea.
Ok, so first you need to get a Scroll of Icarian Flight...
After finishing it with a friend, I have to say the Misfit of Demon King Academy might have been my favorite show of the season.
It had exactly 0 fucks to give about anything but being about cool guy demon king and didn't try to hide it. It also had two musical numbers in it for some reason.
Like most power fantasy stuff just comes off as kind of self insert wankery, but that show just goes all the way to 11 with it and we both found it pretty great. "You think I'd die just because you killed me?" Being delivered with total seriousness implied just sold early on.
Demon Slayer is the anti-Goblin Slayer in that it's extremely good and well made. Also watch out for Rise of the Shield Hero which also gets recommended with Goblin Slayer. Certainly it also has problematic elements in its story, but it's also just incredibly boring.
If you really want some classic D&D Anime, Record of the Lodoss War is a great purchase.
Yeah Shield Hero is slickly produced absolute trash that gets heavily marketed since it’s a Crunchyroll coproduction.
I have known people that get into it because of the hype around it without thinking about the really awful shit that happens in that series, from the misogyny to the pro-slavery messages to the magically aged up child love interest.
raphtalia is incredibly big yikes energy
They make her a child for one episode and is essentially raised by the protagonist, then they age and sex her up because magic so she can be a sexy love interest
Just skip that first bit! All it does is make things hella creepy! You'd only put that in because you're hella creepy!
Also she starts out as a slave of the protagonist (who he bought because he's so nice and the slave master was mean). Later her magic slave spells get broken but she says no I like being a slave, please cast the slave magics again, and then they do
That's not even getting into the other harem member who is a child the protagonist also raised who also wants to get with him
But Filo is a ninja chocobo queen, and that's hilarious.
I mean, I don't think she should hook up with Shield either, just to be clear.

It'll be a cold day in the hades before Aniplex streams Heaven's Feel, they want that otaku money.
It may not even be an option in a lot of places, depending on a) local regulation and b) Regal theaters shutting down. Doing some kind of rental stream for a few weeks would be the best option, because most weebs would be happy to pay $20 to see it.
God. I saw a video roasting a few episodes of that show.
I think literally the only thing I remember of it from my childhood is Godzookie in the intro song.
I did not recall stuff like the human crew being the blandest-looking characters ever

I saw this as one of the biggest Godzilla stans around
The Hanna Barbera cartoon was a bad show

Wait, Godzookie isn't just a weird way Matt McMuscles says Godzilla?

godzooky is Godzilla's kid from the Hanna Barbera cartoon who has wings, can only breath smoke rings, and is friendly with the crew of the ship. It makes zero sense and is annoying as hell.

There's also a technically distinct "young Godzilla" character from some of the worst movies in the series who is very similar to Godzooky in most ways and definitely was the inspiration for him. They both suck unbelievably hard.

RIP in peace
It'll be a cold day in HFIL before they get mine, then!
godzookie is the scrappy doo of kaiju
I don't know if that's possible.

They did this because her hit boxes were just too powerful while Naruto running and they couldn't figure out how to balance it
