I know Jade’s dad, he’ll understand, probably more than I do.”, Officer Nu rambles on about this one hairy Tunglani he sort of liked when he was 16 but never put much thought into it until now.

The red-haired ghost (vision? spirit? memory?) might have to wait. Hado figures it probably wouldn't sit well with the others if he chased off after her when there's still a somewhat active scene back in the ruined bar. He has already run into her twice in three days, which can't be a coincidence. He'll slink around a suitable corner and, out of sight, transform back into his injured Ishtari form. He'll whisper an incantation to heal his burnt hand, in order to conceal that evidence of his chicanery, and then return to the group as his humanoid self.

A little time has passed without anyone asking much to Avad. Luce has left with the other guests. The two young ones are safe and sound tonight, that’s a fact.
The patrolmen are still working, but there’s fewer here as they’ve carted off the criminals.
“Hullo!”, says Officer Nu to Hado.
Avad raises an eyebrow, but just smiles at him.
“So... Shall we leave these fine people to their duty and go join Luce at the new venue?”, he enquires.
Together you exit the Nasty Surprise and hit the streets. The night’s festivities are in full swing at various taverns and towers, so at this point in the night the streets are empty. Just an hour or so more and plenty of folks will be heading home. But not now.
Hado, you note a dozen birds shrieking a call of danger from a spire you pass.
After a few minutes of quietly walking, each of you sharing glances around the abbot, he speaks up.
“You know, on this night they say spirits roam the city freely. It’s true, of course. You know this. But what so few put together, the obvious link... is that it works both ways.”, he takes a breath and sighs, “My intentions are only to ready New Zellatia, it’s a shame you’ll not be able to see my plans come to fruition.”

Baber, you look through a distant window, and see the jaws of partying people unhinge as they laugh. They change shape slowly as you watch, like liquid, like something terrible.
The stars blink out of existence one by one. Avad stands at an angle from you, still and sure as you stumble.
“When the hunger demon was slain I assumed I’d incurred the wrath of many foes. You should be proud of your achievement. Were it not for my ever vigilant ally...”, Abbot Avad hangs his head low, then speaks to someone you can’t see, “Follow them, make sure they do not suffer a long death at your brethren’s hands.”
You are in... a world isn’t the right world. It’s finite, you can see the cavern-like walls that enclose this entire space where you’d find the horizon in your own world. A small lopsided collapsing red sun hangs in the sky. Blood drips from it like an open wound. The landscape is jagged volcanic valleys and sudden sharp drops into nothingness. The heat from flowing lava is near unbearable. This space is impossible. This is where demons, devils and the like come from.
You see what appear to be giant succulent plants. They reek, and ooze a dark liquid.
Slightly behind to your left is a tall monolith that projects pained looking faces along its surface. You note there is a circular platform at its base with arcane sigils, some of which you know to mean ‘move’.
Far to the north you catch sight of a building made from bones.
Around the area are hills that are around 30 feet high at the top (light grey squares).
D1–9 are demons. Each one is unique. Each one is frightening to behold!
S1–4 are swarms of spiders with faces on their backs!

You’re not one for books, but you saw some pictures once of a Kaburin warrior doing a ‘open palm angel strikes the wicked’ and you just gave it your best impression. It worked! You shatter the crystalline thorax of the demon! It screams out but is quickly finished.
Just as suddenly you drop to one knee as pain courses through your body. On an instinctual level you know you’ll suffer more damage when hit as long as that giggling, many limbed thing still lives.
You’d have to climb up the rock face to get to it, and there’s a demon hunched on a precarious peak in the chasm nearby. Will it attack you as well?

Hado reels from the backlash. I guess I should have seen that coming he grouses to himself. He’ll back away from the demon and look for another approach.
Baber's echo moves towards the giggling demon, while Baber reaches down to tear one of the scythed limbs of the demon off. Gotta get a weapon of some sort! Maybe a shield or armor too, but that's not as likely.
The archer demon has a moment to look surprised at Gear's taunt, followed by it's own arrow lodging into it's throat! Milliseconds later, a lance of energy from Gear's monkey slams into the arrow, and the demon's head simply explodes into a shower of gore and chitinous fragments. Some of which are sent hurtling with enough force to take out the burning worms too!
The demon's headless corpse topples from it's perch and falls somewhere - gear didn't spot where!
That done, Gear moves up - she's seen flashes of combat, that indicate somethings up. She's pretty sure Hado and Baber are around here somewhere. Both her and her moneky ready an action - Gear will unleash a Fire bolt at the first demonic target in her sight, and the monkey will likewise do so with a force bolt!)

Behind you there is a humongous skeleton draped across a valley of flowing lava. It’d be a dangerous act, but you could run across it, if you dare risk the fall.

Hado reexamines D5, seeing how it moves to mirror his movements. He circles to its north, trying to set it up to back southward into the lava chasm, and then backs away (northward). As he moves north, does D5 mirror his movement towards the south?
((Hado is trying to trick D5 into backing into the lava canyon. If it becomes clear the demon is moving too slowly or otherwise won't be tricked into doing this, he'll change tactics but this is what he's trying for now))
As he moves north, Hado will Create Bonfire underneath one of the spider piles that just appeared near the monolith.

Surveying the disgusting demon before you, you notice it slowly inch it’s way backwards when you step away, and circle to the left when you step right. It’s too slow to properly mimic you, but it’s trying to.
If it hurt you when you struck it, perhaps the opposite would lead to a better result?
Below this hill you find yourself on is a huge monolith. You see a tiny wasp-like thing fly towards it, then vanish in a puff of silver mist. Who knows where it went?
Behind you there is a humongous skeleton draped across a valley of flowing lava. It’d be a dangerous act, but you could run across it, if you dare risk the fall.
For your keen investigation attempt, you gain advantage to any check you make involving the monoliths.

You don’t find anything else of use on the insectile demon.
A crackling noise and a puff of silver mist, followed by the same again rings out from a monolith near Hado’s position. Piles of spider things appears at the monolith’s base! They skitter about on the hunt for prey!

Baber, the demon overlooking the chasm from a thin peak spreads its wings. It continues to watch you, a clawed hand on its chin. You see it has a bow laid at its gnarled feet.
It speaks to you, “Mortal. Do you fear death?”
Make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 12) vs becoming frightened, Baber! Should you fail, you cannot willingly go near this demon.

Gear! Look out! Behind you, you hear a crackle, then feel the coldness of silvery mist dissipating between your feet.
Something casts a spell on you! Make a Charisma saving throw (DC 14) vs bane!

((Hado is trying to trick D5 into backing into the lava canyon. If it becomes clear the demon is moving too slowly or otherwise won't be tricked into doing this, he'll change tactics but this is what he's trying for now))
As he moves north, Hado will Create Bonfire underneath one of the spider piles that just appeared near the monolith.

The demons does indeed circle around! It takes a bit longer than you’d like, but it’s soon lined up with the lava valley!
The spiders burst into flames! All of them are going to head for you now, but that was surely inevitable.
