(I mean Gear's in agreement. This is fucking shit whatever's being done, and probably seriously bad news if left as it is. I dont actually see a better option than freeing it)

You’re glad you’ve spent so much time researching things Gear.

Something wants to drain the life from the crab!

The pearls are acting as conduits. The life force enters them, then shoots off to... somewhere else. To some thing else. Something that needs to heal...

2/5th of Rogo-Rogo’s life have already been drained. Had you not arrived at this time the crab might soon be dead!

You can’t read the sigils but they’re arcane in nature, used to power the spell, and are crudely drawn. How can a spell-caster be powerful enough to conduct this ritual, but uncouth enough to scrawl his arcane sigils? It’s almost like he could barely hold onto to whatever sharp rock they used to scratch the sigils into the tiles.

The middle pearl begins to go dark.

    Make your next move.

(Did i learn anything about how to break the pearls?)

"...We have to break the pearls. Now. the white one's first. They're draining hte lifeforce from Rogo - he'll be dead shortly if we dont"

Gear swings her arm up and lets a firebolt loose at the middle pearl

    FWOOSH!

The ceiling of the dome casts a crab shaped silhouette as the sudden heat scatters the pearls. The first two turn to dust, and the other three roll to a stop behind the giant crab.

Cinders pop around Rogo-Rogo’s feet, and he takes a sharp intake of breath. He’s not frothing at the mouth any more. He looks like he’s preparing to do something! But what can he do?

[OOC: I didn’t say they needed breaking, but no, you learned what they’re for, breaking things is less Intelligence skill and more smashy smashy.]

Is anyone stepping into the dome? You don’t have to stand in front of the crab, you can use the rest of your movement to pick the safer side.

After inspection you gain all three pearls, Gear.

Rogo-Rogo fixates on Hado. Then after a brief pause where only Baber’s ocarina can be heard, it blasts Hado in the chest with a gout of compressed water!

Hado, succeed on a 12 DC Strength saving throw or be launched back 15 feet!

You manage to say, “HABUBUBRGUPUF!” before you are launched back into the water.

In the mere moments you spent discussing and attempted to calm the crab frosty mist has descended upon this underground lake.

Rogo-Rogo rage grows even more severe, you can hear it’s bonds strain from his sheer strength! He wants to be free right now!

Three seaweed blights have crawled out from a nearby ridge and over the top of the dome, and one has swung into the dome! It lands with a wet slap, then slowly brings itself upright on two ‘legs’.

Hado, the second you surface you’re dragged beneath the water! A large blight is pulling you under!

    Everyone roll for initiative!

Hado’s first goal will be to free himself and reach solid ground again. If he’s restrained, he’ll use his action to try to break free and move to the platform. If he’s not restrained, he’ll move to the platform and then look for a suitable place to cast Create Bonfire. He wonders to himself, “would a fire cut those seaweed bindings on the crab?”

  • Options

A blight (#3) sprints around the ridge and leaps into the water. It slithers onto the steps of the dome but gets no further.

Hado is restrained, but these things aren’t too tough to escape from. The bindings on the crab are quite dry.

Hado is up next, then Gear, then a blight, then Baber, then the last of the blights!

Hado tangles with the blight, and for a moment all is dark. It has no eyes, but it is looking, all the same. You are pulled deeper... and then from across the realm of spirits, a choir of voices speaking as one. Figures stand on a threshold, tall as mountains. Together they say, “No.”

You rip free from the blight and surface. It does not follow.

Panting, Hado makes it back to the dome.
