I'm doing a lot of research on various crops that can handle higher heat, humidity, and precipitation, so it's not just "lol wheat".

Since the place once had a dragon lording over it, I'm thinking it stocked the mountains with goats or something similar, while the rain shadow is mostly birds, amphibians, and small-medium mammals no larger than a small deer. Maybe some smaller "extinct" creatures.

Sweet bread, per our lords and masters at Google, is the thymus gland (or, rarely, the pancreas) of an animal, especially as used for food. So no sugar involved. On a personal note: a dumb name.
Butter pickles (or more accurately bread and butter pickles) are just sliced and jarred pickles with a bunch of seasoning that doesn't even include sugar. On a personal note: also dumb name because neither butter or bread is involved.
They work on burgers, but by themselves they are not very good
