I think the fossil mode is the best of the available options. The robot mode is really lanky with bizarrely long arms and is just a pain to get standing. It's pretty clear this design started with the dinosaur fossil.
The weapon "modes" are interesting, but it's more fun to ignore the instructions for that part and do what you want with them.
I've currently got Warpath holding him as a giant sword and back mounted grabby arms. Can take photos after work.
Clearly what I meant was "I might remember to take pictures after work, a brief nap, a trip to buy sandwich stuff for lunch and grabbing a quick dinner on the way home then watching some streamers on twitch playing Loop Hero.
But, I got to the photos eventually...
First off: Warpath, equipped with dead dinosaur power ups.
Second, the weapons, sans Warpath.
Sword, Grabby Arms and shoulder shield
Third: Mid "Transformation"
Sit Ubu sit. Good dinosaur.
(refer to image three for mid transformation here)
Robot mode. Well, a robot mode. You can make a bunch of different robot modes that probably look better than this one.
But this is the official one. Maybe. Some art has the upper arms swapped.
Slightly different angle on the robot mode showing that the legs really are that short, it's not just a trick of foreshortening.
Ok that is horribly creepy as a weapons addition to Warpath. I agree that the fossil mode is cool and the robot mode is... Creepy as all heck! I know the reprint one that is on Pulse scared me to no end and now I see the original is scary too.
Thanks for the photos! Also loved the description and nap. Naps are very important.

See, I'm happy any time ya'll spend this much because it makes me feel less like a weirdo for owning $500 dolls.
Definitely going to wait to see how the Centurion 3P turns out. They look good, but I'm worried about how the armor set pegs will work as it was mentioned in the linked thread that items slotted in will probably just fall out.
Now...if somebody wants to revisit 3P Dino-Riders, or if Mattel wants to stop screwing around and give us the real thing rather than mini playsets...

Buy allllll the toys.
I think it's important to point out that everyone here's a weirdo, and any one of us getting more weird actually makes everyone else become more of a weirdo. It's like... the Law of Multiplicative Weirdo or something. You're all complicit in my crimes, none of you are getting off the hook.
Anyway, OK, yes, instructions clear, I bought all the toys.

No no, not at all, this is a D&D player calling a D&D player a nerd; I absolutely will not manufacture tiers of geekiness to attempt to elevate myself above others.
I'll be honest. I had to go look those things up since I never heard of them. I remember those popper things, but never heard of that toy line.
I think there's an age difference between us, right? I'm 36, so when I think of "my childhood", I'm thinking primarily of the 90s. I think Snailiens and Body Wars were quite niche; I mean, there were TV commercials and everything, but it wasn't anything with lasting cultural impact. Mighty Max ruled extremely hard as a toy line and ruled extremely hard as a cartoon, but the other two have left no fossil record for a pop-culture archaeologist.

Yeah, that would make the difference. Mine is the 80s so like a 10 year or so difference. It is amazing what toys came out during that time that I'm getting introduced to.
I have that wave on the way right now actually from BBTS. Super excited for them to arrive (along with the fourth figure in the wave She-Ra.)

The other main expense from giant expensive dolls is, of course, clothes. For real, their clothes cost as much as clothes for me.
For example, I really want this t-shirt and sports bra set that was just released:
Danny calls this, and several items in his collection, "post apocalyptic", thus the mismatched sleeves. I like it a lot! In order to reduce staining, the clothes Danny makes are often in muted colors. Other doll producers just create stuff in whatever color they like then also sell nude-colored coverups for under the clothes so you don't stain. I generally prefer Danny's method, but it does mean your color choices are limited. Making things "post apocalyptic" helps with that.
Anyway, just that set costs about $73 US. I bought myself a dress and sports bra for about that a couple of weeks ago so. Yeah, as much if not more than human clothes. I still want it though.
Wow. Does he make his own clothes in his shop? I figured he did, but was wondering if that is true.
The price is indeed crazy, but can justify it if he's having staff making it in house. Although I haven't paid attention to how much clothes cost lately, but I do know that women's clothing is seriously crazy. Especially when you have to buy new stuff every year.

Yeah he and his staff make the clothes in shop.
One fun little trivia thing most people don't know (I certainly didn't at first) is that Danny Choo's dad, Jimmy Choo (yes THAT Jimmy Choo) designs the shoes for Smart Doll - based on what Danny wants, I assume, but Jimmy Choo is the shoe expert in the family. I say that it has to be based on what Danny wants because the classic Jimmy Choo pump is very pointy-toed, and Danny's doll shoes are never that pointy. I'd like for him to ask his dad to design them pointy just once, though.
Given that real Jimmy Choos cost about $800, the cost of Smart Doll shoes at $60 - $110 is uh, manageable at least?
At first I was annoyed that these clothes cost basically as much as human-sized, since you'd think the need for less material would come into play. But in trying to make the clothes myself I understand why it's more expensive - designing and building clothes for dolls is expensive in itself, and it takes a lot of man hours to complete a single garment. I wouldn't be surprised if he loses money on some of his garments.
Edit: For fun I did add up some items I bought recently - sports bra at $32.17 and a cotton dress for $38.95, and that comes to $71.12, less than that Smart Doll bra top and shirt (not even a complete outfit!) but, well, the items I bought were on sale so I guess they'd be more expensive without that. Danny Choo stuff rarely goes on sale but it seems like they sell on a small margin so that's understandable.

Wow, yeah that is awesome! No wonder he has the ability to have fun like he does.
I think if you did want to compare the doll clothes to the real world clothes you could look at the designer stuff that is sold on runways (super high end stuff? don't really know the names of them or what they would be called) to have an equivalent. Those are also limited are they not? So in a way those doll prices are deals and probably a better ratio comparison for pricing.
On one hand, my initial impressions were "Ooh, awesome!" It seemed a lot more cohesive than the other weaponizers and everything seemed pretty solid.
... And then I went to construct the spear.
The biggest issue is that a huge chunk of the chest isn't used in it. And it's not like it would've been hard to add it! Just add a couple more hinges and just one peg in the right spot. But no.. the official versions don't use the chest piece any, which is disappointing.
Next issue is how flimsy it is. The legs, back, and such lock together well enough. But the waist/hips don't lock in any way, and the arms (that make up the shaft of the spear) are naturally very loose. What's worse, the way they peg together isn't terribly secure! so the thing has a very scorpion look, but that's not what I'm looking for in a spear.
And finally, there's no real way I can see to lock the spear mode in Scorponok's hands! There are no 5mm pegs inside his pincers, so he just has to clamp onto the spear. And because they are wobbly-ish arms, it's tough to pull off a strong grip.
What I'm saying is that Scorponok just cannot grasp his shaft in a way that is pleasing to me.
*ahem*
Also I can't find a good place to store the upper torso yet, so it's just kind of dangling there. Maybe that'll change with the DNA design upgrades I have on order.
Here's what I came up with for Fasttrack for incorporating his torso.
The key to getting him held is to make sure the outside of his elbows are pointing to the whatever direction gravity is pulling from.

Oooh, I can live with that. It makes it more of a stumpy dagger than a spear, but let's be honest, it's fine. Maybe a couple more arm pieces would complete the look.
That said, he now joins the armed ones. I need to get out my other drones and put them with my Titans.

Sorry for the double post. Saw this on the Transformers Site I visit. Seems that Hasbro is bringing out some of the original Beast Wars Transformers. So far they show Megatron, Optimus Primal, Cheetor and Rattrap.

Gotta love a $5 1996 toy being sold for $20 in 2021.
I honestly find it a little weird these happened when Kingdom is also happening at the same time. The rumor was that these were going to be the Transmetal toys, which made a little bit more sense to me.
I bought a 3.5 inch Iceman figure because he was clear and blue, plus nifty packaging. It was 10 dollars for what is essentially a McDonald's toy. I mean I'm the sucker who bought it but still, wild. It does look nice next to my others.
