Is it Jazz's birthday? I think it is.
I'm still playing Assassin's Creed Unity, mainly because I only get to play it in chunks where most of the previous games were played multiple hours a day several days a week. I'm honestly making better backlog progress over on the Switch, because 3 year old. It's much easier to play kid-friendly stuff in front of the wee one, and his favorite game is currently "dad pets Pikachu and makes him make noises and it's hilarious", which is known by the more official name Let's Go! Pikachu.
Still, I've been considering trying out a play of Armello so I can get the game backlog moving again. I really expected to hate Xenonauts so I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't quite the meat grinder that I was expecting (due to me saving and relaoding copiously because are you kidding me). I guess we'll see.

Armello is great, but be wary of playing around the kid. Lovely storybook aesthetic with animal people characters and.... some real Watership Down moments.

Maybe you'll just be eaten by weird floating conjoined spheres!
At the end of the day, aren't we all really just weird floating conjoined spheres?
I'm moving into a new apartment this weekend, and my internet options there are either Centurylink (DSL at up to 6mbps) or Comcast (I'm near fiber so up to 2gbps). I tell you, it was incredibly tempting, but I don't want to pay $300 a month for internet access so I'm just gonna stick with 100mbps.
Maybe sometime down the line I'll call them and be like "yeah bump me up to full blast just for the month" just so I can see what it's like.
Beat Final Fantasy IV today. First Final Fantasy I've beat since FF3 came out on DS nearly 14 years ago. First RPG I've beat since replaying KOTOR four years ago.
Pretty solid game. I missed a lot with the augment system, and probably a handful of sidequests. It drags a bit towards the end and I've very thankful for the quicksave system. Playing on the original save point system would be impossible for me with how short my sessions tend to be.
I only started playing it cause my FF7 doesn't do cloud saves on Steam and my laptop didn't have my save files.
“We remastered Persona 4 Golden, a title previously sold on the PlayStation Vita, and released it for sale on Steam this fiscal year. Because of the game’s critical acclaim and its low selling price, sales were much stronger than expected. We will continue to actively promote porting previously released titles to Steam and new platforms. We are also negotiating with platform holders for new games in the future, and we’re considering ways to sell under favourable conditions for each title. Among them are measures such as preparing PC versions of the titles from the beginning, with multi-platform releases in mind.”
Game developers just need to get their shit together and start standardizing game save locations. Then, all a person would have to do to give literally every one of their game cloud saves is to point the executable for whatever their cloud platform of choice is at that one specific folder. Blammo, now every game has cloud saves.
Instead, we can't even get developers to standardize saves for their own games (and we live in a world where you can have a My Documents folder filled with different folders for EA, EA Games, Electronic Arts, Electrontic Arts, etc).
I'm pretty sure Watership Down ruined my childhood.
The book right? Never saw the movie, but recall bits from youtube.
Yeah, the book. I've never seen a movie version.
The '78 movie version was that really 70s "dirty animation" style that only adds to how fucked the source material was. I won't post them here but a quick Google search will pull up some wonderfully grody GIFs.

Woooo finally got my new pc back after I returned it when I couldn’t put up with the fan noise anymore. Turns out it was something wrong with my gpu fan so they replaced it and now it sounds so much better. The grinding, whirring and constant buzzing is gone

wasn't there some super rad summon spell or sth where your crew flies in from space, exploding the earth?
damn i switched fallout 4 off my ssd, and now i cant figure out how to uncap the frame rate and also use the mod that fixes load times. The mods installed but the frame rate is still capping at 30 fps. it could be because the ssd worked differently from the hd, but surely that would just impact the mod not the uncapped frame rate
jesus christ bethesda maybe just include a way to uncap your damn game in the year of our lord 2020
Edit I think it’s cos there’s like 3 ini files and I need reset them all to read only or something and my god bethesda

Hi Steam thread, been awhile huh? I have two questions I'd like your help with, tangentially related:
I'd like to get a new controller for playing games on my pc. I've been using a wired Xbox 360, and I still really like it, but I would like to upgrade to something with a better d-pad. I don't have a bluetooth card in my pc, so it needs to be able to work via the USB cord. I'd also like to keep to US$60 or less. I've mainly been thinking of an Xbox One or DualShock 4. I've used the XBO at my brother in law's house, and it's pretty nice. I have not used a DS4, but it looks like a nice improvement on the old DS1-3 design, ergonomically if nothing else. What are your thoughts?
While babysitting my nephews earlier this week, I ran into a problem where I could not get my Steamlink and Portal 2 to play nice with the mix of controllers we were trying to use. Previously, we would occasionally have problems where both controllers were being treated as the same player, but could usually resolve it by exiting the game, disconnecting and then reconnecting the controllers. This time, it never assigned both to one player, but it would absolutely ignore the DS3 while acknowledging the XB360, or work with the DS3 but only accept the button inputs for the XB360 (sticks were doing nothing). On the menu screens it would intermittently work with both, but once you got into game it only ever gave full function to one controller at a time. Nothing I could think of (in the controller order settings or even shutting down the steamlink and restarting) seemed to fix it. What's even stranger is that we were playing Castle Crashers just before trying to play Portal 2 and that worked fine. They're supposed to be over tomorrow and I'd like to be able to avoid a repeat. Any ideas?

The DS4 is definitely an improvement over the DS1-3, ergonomically and comfort-wise, but personally I still find the Xbox One controller head and shoulders above. It really is personal preference, though; you can't really go wrong with either one. Both should work fine over USB; the XBO controller certainly does (I've not tried my DS4 with my PC, it just stays on PS4 duty).
The thing I hated about Skies of Arcadia, at least on Dreamcast, was the need to move around in early areas and then being ambushed by low, low, low level enemies who were still fast enough to run away from the battle I didn't want to bother with in the first place and thus denying me even that 1XP for the effort.
my original version xbone controller got the dpad dead, similar issue to drifting, shitty carbon pads got scratched and it doesn't register up
i read that some people also had that issue, but it's probably more than fixed in current models
I still like the DS4 a ton more. No contest for me.

The best part about this is that you didn't need to do anything to earn this, like find the technique or do a quest or anything. Just at some point pretty early in the story you just see this as an option in the special attacks.
Was usually way more worth it to use low cost specials though, like Cutlass Fury

There was also the one where your whole crew came out to lay into the enemy, which was fun.
So yesterday I started seeing 100% disk usage. This was obviously an annoying problem as everything took forever. After a lot of snarling, gnashing of teeth, and researching on another device I tried all of the standard things. I stopped the Windows search service. I made sure my page file settings were good. I rebooted several times. Nothing worked. Until I found a steam forum post where the answer turned out to uninstalling and reinstalling both Chrome and Steam. Using both of those pretty heavily I decided to give it a try. Things are running much better now, but I'm working through all of the orphaned "Add or Remove Programs" entries and deciding which games to reinstall.
So far I'm looking at Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3!?, Slay the Spire, and Monster Train.
And at hopefully keeping this thing more tidy going forward.

P3P please.
Persona 3 actually needs, like, an ultimate edition for a PC release
Picking either FES or P3P to release would be kind of unsatisfying, since one contains the epilogue and the other an entirely different protagonist
So stoked
Yeah, but if you gotta have one, female protagonist > epilogue any day of the week.
