Sayonara Wild Hearts is fucking insane. I'm not sure I played anything like it. I feel like if Hackers was remade today, Crash and Burn would be playing Sayonara Wild Hearts in the arcade scene. What a short but wicked sweet shooter/rhythm game... Thank you @Orivon again for the gift!

Well it only took me until the end of November, but I finally finished a game in 2020.
First time seeing credits in Spelunky 2. Obviously I'm not "done" with the game, but I count that as the important first step after several dozens of hours.
edit: Hmm, actually according to my "Finished 2020" Steam collection, Spelunky 2 is my 4th finished game this year, after Ancient Enemy, Murder By Numbers, and the Thimbleweed Park side game.

Anybody have any time on Toejam and Earl: Back in the Groove? I loved the two classic Genesis games- does this one hold up?
I quite enjoyed it when I played it on release and they have been adding more content since then. It pays a bit too safe but for the price tag on that bundle definitely give it a try.
It has up to 4 player online or local coop but I only tried local. It has a kids friendly mode that lowers the difficulty just for selected players (less damage, less aggressive enemies...) while the rest play on the selected difficulty level.
People complained that the maps were quite smaller than the first game but I don't think that was a big deal. Still, they added a bigger (non random) maps mode last month along with an endless more.
The soundtrack was great and you get it if you buy the humble bundle.
Buying ToeJam and Earl in a bundle and giving all the money to charity is probably recommended. There have been some issues with alleged sex pests in both the publishing and promotion of that game.
@Stormwatcher sent me a humble bundle of a bazillion Conan pnp RPG books. Woo! These will be pretty handy - my gaming group plays Conan every other week, but we don't have all the sourcebooks.

I always do, no matter the bundle. Rather toss fifteen bucks at a charity instead of a company.
Though that makes this one, the Conan bundle, and maybe the Cyberpunk tabletop bundle I have to pick up...
Iron Brigade is funny. Shit is a pain to sort through, but there is a zen moment running around killing television lizards with an obtuse build because ya just want to see how it turns out.
Enemy Silhouettes are also good, tell at a distance how fucked I am.

Yeh. it doesn't work every map, but my favorite build is still double artillery and the tripod legs that lock down and increase reload speed.
Works better in multiplayer because other players can run more mobile builds.
Finished Yakuza 0 late last night. Picked it up closer to its release but put it down after multiple days of just doing the hostess club management side game instead of the main story. It's an enjoyable time but also shows its PS3 era age.
I want to note that despite its title and appearance, this is not an open world crime 'em up. This is a JRPG with action RPG combat a la the Tales series but with a one man party. The city streets are wonderfully detailed but you don't go to a lot of different places. This series is less GTA and more the spiritual successor to Shenmue.
Gameplay wise, it's fun but not great in terms of core mechanics. The interface is a little clunky (again, PS3 era game), you can spend a lot of time just running from place to place for missions, and the combat is honestly lackluster. That last one is a bit of a problem given how much of it there is. It's great for spectacle with over the top animations and being able to pick up traffic cones, bikes, chairs, and other objects as temporary weapons. The base mechanics leave something to be desired though with no target lock and very little tracking for your attacks and the ease with which enemies can stunlock you and change the way you're facing with their basic attacks. The combat animations are often goofy looking as well. From a technical perspective, Kiryu especially looks like a bad fighter just getting by on sheer strength. A lot of the mooks look like more skilled fighters and the bosses seem inspired by cheesy kung-fu movies so it's a bit of an odd aesthetic though Kiryu is only 20 years old in this game so I suppose a lack of training isn't out of character. Majima both looks a bit better and is more fun to play as. His fighting styles are even more out there but his Slugger style that lets you bring a bat to a fist fight actually has a stance and animations one does see in weapon based arts and the oddness is him doing them with a bat instead of a sword, nunchaku, or Escrima stick. His legendary style is hectic and frantic but was a lot of fun once I got a hold of how to set up combo finishers and then run around slashing people during the forced dash afterwards. The wide arcs on those cuts helped bypass the narrow hitboxes too. For all the jank, the combat does set the tone of much of the game though. Dungeons are often traversed by punching the last mook through a door to open the next room and this will happen multiple times in a row in a building.
The real draws though are the characters and atmosphere. There's massive tonal whiplash between the goofy sidequests and the melodramatic main story but both are enjoyable. Kiryu is similar to Geralt in that while he looks like he has a face that belongs on wanted posters, he's actually a warm person that will do silly things with a straight face. The game makes this very clear by having one of the first things you do be sing karaoke. The main storylines are convoluted, violent, have characters making stupid decisions, and tragic but still retain an over the top bent it during it. Main characters will yell about philosophy before fights, cry over each other without needing one to die, and somehow tear off a suit jacket, shirt, and tie in one motion before fights serious enough to demand fighting bare-chested. This is the shounen manga version of a crime drama. Frankly, Kiryu seems pretty unclear about what exactly yakuza actually do and fans of the series have noted that across the franchise he's spent more time kicked out or exiled from the yakuza than actually in it. It really seems more of a justification for him getting into so many fights in a modern urban setting with no one batting an eye. You will sit through a lot of cut scenes and dialogue during all this. I'm pretty sure there were multiple times later in the game where I would have one fight sandwiched between 10 minute story segments.
The game is unpolished in places, but shows a lot of love and passion not unlike many indie titles. Just seeing macho protagonists that don't need to soften up a jerk facade before showing warmth is a great change of pace from the usual video game murder dads.
8/10 random street punks beaten with a bike. Seriously, why are random jerks so eager to get pummeled

I have too many games going again and I'm actually interested in seeing them all through. Divinity Original Sin 2 is scratching that RPG itch and Jedi Fallen Order is scratching that puzzle/action adventure itch. Between the two I think I'm set for awhile. Then out of nowhere I got invited to try out amazon luna which is actually pretty good, and now I'm into Control as well. 2020 hasn't been the greatest year. We all know that, but with PC gaming, a new console gen starting, and cloud gaming taking off it's turning out to be an exciting time to be a gamer.

Question about House Flipper:
Is it like Surgeon Simulator where you control like a sack of meat or is it more like you are actually doing the remodeling. Maybe it's because I'm getting older but I kinda want to pick it up even though I am not handy and hate those renovation shows. Something about renovating a virtual house entices me. I used to love decorating in the Sims.

Either way, I want it lol.
House Flipper is a much more chill game than Surgeon Simulator, which is floppy physics based chaos.
It's more of a sim than Surgeon Sim is a sim, despite the name.
I've been waiting for it to go on deeper sale because I bought it once and had to refund it because of PC issues and then it never was that cheap ever again. Probably because it has officially licensed HGTV DLC now.
House Flipper is definitely about painting and cleaning and doing menial labor but in a relaxing way. It's good.
Yeah, that's the kind of post I want to see from someone I just gave my address to.
I am doing the sane thing. I am never giving out my address. Especially to Isy. I know you people well enough.
A few people have mine.
So far it hasn't backfired on me.
You've also made it very clear there would be actual consequences if that address is misused from what I remember when the topic came up a couple years ago.

Menu interface and selling items is poop from a butt.
Brutal legend had a better interface.
Why am I finding loot trash?
Needs to a be a social media surge on old multiplayer games with active servers.
